O presente trabalho visa conhecer e caracterizar as aprendizagens promovidas pelas principais instituições da freguesia de Vila Nova de S. Bento (concelho de Serpa), avaliando a presença relativa dos contextos formais, não – formais e informais. Realizámos uma abordagem teórica, com o intuito de precisar alguns conceitos chave como aprendizagem, ambientes de aprendizagem e território. Para concretizar o trabalho empírico, e tendo como base as questões subjacentes à investigação, utilizámos uma metodologia mista (quantitativa/qualitativa) com uma aproximação conceptual ao estudo de caso. O instrumento utilizado na recolha de dados foi o inquérito por questionário aplicado. Fizemos uma recolha, análise e interpretação de dados que nos permitiram inferir: As instituições objecto do nosso estudo constituem um potencial educativo no território analisado; Estas instituições desenvolvem um conjunto de actividades de aprendizagem que poderão ser um recurso para o território; Estabelecida uma relação de diálogo com a escola e outros parceiros locais, será possível potenciar novas ofertas educativas neste território. Terminámos este trabalho, com a apresentação de algumas recomendações e sugestões, que poderão vir a integrar novas investigações; ### Abstract: The present study aims to now and characterizes the learning’s promoted by the main institutions in the town of Vila Nova de S. Bento (Serpa), evaluating the relative presence of formal, non-formal and informal contexts. We made a theoretical approach, aiming to precise some key concepts, like learning ambient and territories. To realise the empiric work, and having as base subjacent questions to the investigation, we used a mixed methodology (quantitative/qualitative) as a conceptual approach to the case study. The instrument used in the recollection of data was an inquiry by applied questioner. We made a recollection, analysis and interpretation of data witch permitted as to infer: The institutions which we observed in our study have an educative potential, These institutions developed a series of learning activities that might be a good source for the territory, Establishing a relationship between the school and the other local partners, it will be possible to potentiate the learning offers. We end this study by presetting some recommendations and suggestions that might be integrated in new investigations.

CONSUMERS SENSORY EVALUATION OF MELON SWEETNESS AND QUALITY Agulheiro Santos, A.C, Rato, A.E., Laranjo, M. and Gonçalves, C. ABSTRACT The sensory quality of fruits is made of a range of attributes like sweetness, acidity, aroma, firmness, color. Taste perception and perception threshold of these attributes are variable according to the psychological and cultural development of individuals. To better understand the quality evaluation of melon by consumers, consumers were invited to taste melon samples, in supermarkets in Évora (South region), Lisbon (Central region) and Vila Nova de Gaia (North region). The present work explored the importance given by consumers to sweetness in order to classify the overall quality of melon. Furthermore, the relationship of the chemical evaluation of Total Soluble Solids (TSS) with sweetness of melon was studied. Fruits from the variety Melão branco picked randomly from those that were exposed for sale in supermarkets were used for analysis. Fruits were chinned along the equatorial zone and only the central part of the fruit, opposite to the part that leaned on the soil, was used to obtain homogeneous samples. Consumers were invited to taste four small pieces of each fruit, previously referenced with a code number, and answer a questionnaire with two questions related to sweetness and overall quality. Each question had five possible levels, identified from “Nothing sweet”, to “Extremely sweet”, in one case, and from “Poor” to “Excellent” in the other. Simultaneously, the values of TSS (measured in ºBrix) for each melon used in the study were evaluated by refractometry. This sensory analysis allowed us to point out the following findings: first of all, there is good agreement between the results obtained to classify “Sweetness” and “Overall Quality” (Cohen’s Kappa=53.1%, p<0.001), which means, for example, that fruits with excellent quality are in general extremely sweet. Moreover, fruits with less than 9.6 °Brix are considered of poor quality and nothing sweet, whereas fruits with values between 10 °Brix and 12 °Brix are considered good in terms of overall quality. It seems that the thresholds for the stimulus/intensity of sweetness lied between 10 °Brix to 14 °Brix for this melon variety. Esta investigação teve como principal objectivo avaliar da presença dos contextos institucionais não formais e informais no conjunto das aprendizagens reveladas pelos estudantes que ingressaram, na Escola Secundária Padre António Macedo, no ano lectivo 2009-2010, e averiguar qual o contributo das instituições locais no seu percurso de aprendizagem. A abordagem metodológica assentou num dispositivo de matriz quantitativa, com o recurso ao inquérito por questionário a uma amostra de alunos. Observámos um potencial educativo na cidade proporcionado por instituições, onde se destacaram amigos, familiares e clubes desportivos, procurados pelos jovens para satisfazer a sua necessidade de conhecimento e ocupar tempos livres. Sendo as áreas com mais episódios de aprendizagens, extra escolares: saúde, cidadania, desporto e artes, os jovens reconheceramse detentores de conhecimentos propiciados pela comunidade e instituições locais; ABSTRACT: This research had, as main aim, to assess the presence of formal and informal institutional contexts in all the learnings revealed by the students who enrolled Escola Secundária Padre António Macedo in the year 2009-2010, and also to determine what contribution local institutions had in their learning. The methodological approach was based on a quantitative matrix device, by applying a questionnaire survey to a sample of students. We saw an educational potential offered by institutions in the city, where the highlights were friends, family and sports clubs, popular among young people to satisfy their need for knowledge and to occupy their free time. The areas with more episodes of extra school learning were: health, citizenship, sport and arts. Young people recognized themselves in possession of knowledge provided by the community and local institutions.
