Resumo: Este artigo é uma súmula de um diagnóstico social, coordenado pelos autores, que teve como objetivo compreender as dinâmicas e as relações inter e intra organizacionais das Misericórdias do distrito de Évora. O trabalho desenvolvido tem por base uma metodologia de diagnóstico desenvolvida pelos autores deste artigo, tendo como estratégia analítica a análise de redes sociais e a análise prospetiva, através das quais se elabora um quadro sobre o estado atual das Misericórdias, procede-se a um mapeamento da rede e perspetivam-se estratégias de ação coletiva para as instituições. Abstract: This article is a summary of a social diagnosis, coordinated by the authors, which aimed to understand the dynamics and inter and intra organizational relationships of the Mercies of the Évora district. The work is based on a diagnostic methodology developed by the authors of this article, the analytical strategy to social network analysis and prospective analysis, through which draw up a picture of the current state of Mercies, proceed to a mapping network and perspetivam up collective action strategies for the institutions. This paper analyzes the impact of a geographical social grouping (neighborhood) and its relative perceived size in the spontaneous group’s identiication level and place satisfaction, as well as the intensity of and motives for discrimination against inhabitants of other places. Two studies are presented: an experimental one using the minimal group categorization paradigm and an onsite investigation of a city neighborhood. Consistent with the predictions, the results showed that smaller neighborhoods reported higher identiication and satisfaction with the place of residence, as well as higher discrimination of other neighborhoods. In line with the optimal distinctiveness theory (ODT), the indings showed that the motivation for discrimination varies as a function of the in-group size. Thus, the members of larger groups discriminate by increasing the diferentiation between the in-group and the out-group, whereas the members of smaller groups increased the value of the in-group. Furthermore, the results were consistent with a social identity theory and ODT explanation of diverse research that shows the non-trivial nature of geographical bounded social grouping and its importance in a diverse set of contexts and its impact in inter-neighborhood relationships.

Organizational Cooperation (OC) is a current concept that responds to the growing interdependence among individuals and teams. Likewise, Knowledge Management (KM) accompanies specialization in all sectors of human activity. Most KM processes are cooperation-intensive, and the way both constructs relate to each other is relevant in understanding organizations and promoting performance. The present paper focuses on that relationship. The Organizational Cooperation Questionnaire (ORCOQ) and the Short form of the Knowledge Management Questionnaire (KMQ-SF) were applied to 639 members of research and development (R&D) organizations (Universities and Research Institutes). Descriptive, correlational, linear multiple regression and multivariate multiple regression analyses were performed. Results showed significant positive relationships between the ORCOQ and all the KMQ-SF dimensions. The prediction of KMQ-SF showed a large effect size (R2 = 62%). These findings will impact on how KM and OC are seen, and will be a step forward in the development of this field.
