ABSTRACT: The Human Facet of the Industrial Complex of C.U.F.- a Heritage to Preserve The foundation of this Project is the historical heritage for which developed the interest in Portugal's industrial heritage from the last quarter of the past century. This project has the intention to contribute to the historical and heritage valorization of one of the biggest industrial complexes, which was the case of the Industrial Complex C.U.F. in Barreiro. This project has two parts, the first part will be about defining the theme of industrial heritage and its genesis and the historical setting as a concept and its perspectives of preservation and valorization; afterwards, we will do a small historical synopsis of Barreiro including the Industrial Complex of C.U.F., where we will also refer to the increase in population growth and the urban development, followed by the housing problem and consequently the increase of working class neighborhoods, even to the prices of leisure and culture activities related to the working class, not forgetting the health structures, assistance, leisure and social politics. ln the second part, we will also talk about the importance of valorizing industrial heritage, and subsequently the Industrial Complex, with a proposal of a valorization programme of the Complex with the creation of a museological core as well as an industrial heritage guide.

ABSTRACT: This study seeks to understand the relevance of the criteria used by the Portuguese VCs to select and assess early stage type projects. The data used for the study was collected through a questionnaire answered by 22 Portuguese VCs. We employed descriptive statistic techniques, non-parametric tests and cluster analysis. The conclusion of the study was that the personality and experience of an entrepreneur and of the management team are the most valued criteria. VCs with a majority of private share capital found the group of criteria related to the personality of the entrepreneur and of the management team to be more important than the companies with a majority of public share capital; additionally, the VCs that have not yet expanded internationally, consider the personality of the entrepreneur and management team and the group of criteria associated to financial aspects, to be more important than the VCs that have already expanded abroad. Throughout the study of the clusters we were able to identify three VCs groups: Creators of sustained wealth; Impatient Monopolists and Jealous.

Deeply connected with forest serial dynamics, and present in almost semi-natural landscapes of Iberian Peninsula, Dactylis hispanica subsp. lusitanica perennial grasslands antalis a major issue on biogeographical analysis, once it lacks on syntaxonomical solutions for its affiliation and respective positioning on serial dynamics of distinct territories, which edaphoclimatic envelopes suggest different floristic assemblages. Mainly part of Agrostion castellanae-Stipion giganteae alliance, the Lusitan-Extremadurean grasslands were studied, with the objective of updating that biogeographic Province, and several phytosociological relevés were made, allowing the syntaxonomical update as well to resolve the serial-dynamics arrangement where this peculiar grasslands makes part of. At last this communities belong to priority 6220 [*Pseudo-stepe with grasses and annuals (Thero-Brachypodietea)], habitat that interests as well for conservational matters, due to its peculiar flora.

Vegetation series, defined as the sequence of stages in a sucession, and know as sigmetum (synassociation), describes the set of plant communities or stages that can be found in similar tesselar spaces as a result of the sucession process. This establishes the concept of vegetation series; a climatophilous series is one that depends on the climate, whereas an edaphoxerophilous series depends on the dryness of the soil, and is found on crests, spurs, ledges and limestone and siliceous rock fields. Edaphohygrophilous series are located in valleys, dry water courses and river terraces, and depend on the water present in the soil, which may become temporarily flooded and thus condition the temporihygrophilous series; they represent the transition between the clearly edaphohygrophilous and climatophilous series. The vegetation permaseries represents the perennial communities of permatesselae or similar permatesselar complexes, as occurs in polar territories, hyperdesert, high-mountain peaks, and non-stratified communities lacking in serial communities. The edaphoxerophilous series may include -in addition to the series head- permaseries (permanent communities) and other habitats, such as annual and crevice habitats. A territory behaves undergoes soil-loss phenomena it may become an edaphoseries, if the loss of the soil factor produces a situation of rocky crest. Thus the edaphoseries may act as dynamic transitional stage between the climatophilous series and the permaseries.

In the chemical composition of olive oil (Olea europaea L.) it is emphasized the massive presence of oleic acid (over 70%), monounsaturated fatty acid part of the family of omega 9, a 7-8% linoleic acid (omega 6) and a small presence (0.5-1%) of linolenic acid (omega 3). For its high content of monounsaturated fatty acids, olive oil is the most stable and therefore the most suitable for heating, compared to oils with a dominance of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Interest in vitamin E has increased in recent years, thanks to its high antioxidant power and its role against related diseases with age-related, visual, dermatological, cardiovascular disorders Alzheimer’s disease and more. Vegetable oils are a major source of vitamin E through diet (Sayago et al., 2007), especially with the variety of olives “Hojiblanca”. Thanks to unsaturated fatty acids cell oxidation can be prevented: this helps prevent many illness, and even premature aging. So far, the advantages acknowledged to olive oil are those of lowering cholesterol, preventing cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. Among the most recent researches it is important to distinguish the studies carried out on their contribution to the prevention and treatment of breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers found that in addition to the benefi ts that give monounsaturated fats, in extra virgin olive oil, there is a substance called “oleocanthal”, which helps protect nerve cells damaged in Alzheimer’s disease. The importance of this discovery is enormous when one considers that only Alzheimer’s disease affects 30 million people around the world, with a different distribution depending on the type of oil in the diet (Olguín Cordero, 2012). The latest research endorses that oleocanthal works by destroying cancer cells without affecting the healthy ones, as it is stated in the Molecular and Cellular Oncology Journal. Studies carried out in different Spanish universities have concluded that thanks to the antioxidant power of olive oil, a disease such as Alzheimer can be prevented. In conclusion, we can say that the Mediterranean diet rich in extra virgin olive oil greatly infl uences on human health, reducing, delaying or even eliminating several diseases.
