This study evaluates the adequacy of the micro-theory of client operations to explain meaning construction in Life Design Counseling. Four adolescents were interviewed on their second counseling session. Their recollections were stimulated through the replay of counseling videotapes and the resulting transcribed interviews were qualitatively analyzed. Results confirmed a sequence of client operations evolving from the symbolic representation of experience and reflexive self-examination towards making new realizations and revisioning self. Moreover, clients reported negative and positive session moments evidencing that clients’ attention and activity during the session was not restricted to meaning construction operations. Practical implications for life design counseling are derived from the results and discussed.

It is well known that activated carbon with welldeveloped porosity is a promising material that have been used for several applications, from adsorption to catalysis. Research in this field has intensified in recent years, looking for new and improved characteristics and applications. Our research group, recently renamed Materials for Adsorption and Catalysis group (MAC) in LAQV-REQUIMTE, has also devoted many research work in this subject, and has developed several collaboration works with other national and international research groups in the field. Among our research group interests there is the study of catalytic properties of carbon materials and specifically mesoporous carbon. Some of the promising results were selected and summarized here, demonstrating that mesoporous carbon is an efficient and environmentally friendly heterogeneous catalyst.

The literature shows that category management is an important concept and tool for retailers and suppliers, but that there is a trend to move to a more shopper-centric category management approach, linked to the shoppermarketing approach. However, the knowledge on this issue is scarce on some retailing sectors, like convenience stores. The present study is focused on convenience stores, with the main purpose of finding out to what extent non-major food retailers successfully adopt a shopper-centric category management. The study is relevant in order to evaluate if a more shopper-centric approach is adequate to smaller companies/stores. To accomplish that goal, an exploratory qualitative study was conducted among convenience store retailers and suppliers. Six semistructured face-to-face interviews were conducted with Commercial Directors and Trade Marketing Managers. This data was complemented with thirteen interviews with shopper marketing experts. The data was analyzed using thematic content analysis technique, identifying themes, categories, subcategories, units of meaning and relations. The results revealed that convenience store retailers use some of the principles and techniques of the shopper-marketing and shopper-centric category management approaches, which they do in a non-standardized and non-formal approach or process. Their suppliers (the manufacturers) do it in a more formal and structured manner, probably as a result of previous interaction with major supermarkets chains. Both direct and indirect evidences of a shopper-centric approach were found, which, however, were slight, discrete and not formal.

In continental Portugal no information is available concerning the occurrence of entomopathogenic nematodes. During a survey in several different habitats from the southern regions of the country, several isolates where identified as Steinernema feltiae. This represents the first report of an entomopathogenic nematode genus for continental Portugal.

/ABSTRACT - This essay has as intention to inquire the applicability of automatic categorization or classification methodologies to the classification of current archives of the City councils, having the City council of Palmela as case study. Classification continues to be of basic importance at a time of proliferation of electronic documents and informatics systems that manage them and a solution that simplifies and speeds it maintaining its efficiency would be of major value. The purposes will be, in the first chapters, to characterize classification in archives and the importance of its definition and implementation since the origin, in City councils and enclosed in those systems, and in the last chapters, to characterize the task of automatic categorization or classification, its possible relation with archival classification and the possibility of automatizing it. A test and evaluation of its results were made. The experimental results validate the hypothesis placed.
