/Summary: Bacterial endotoxins are lipopolysaccharides found in the outer membrane of Gram negative bacteria and are responsible for the release of cytokines in the human body. These cytokines may exacerbate the symptoms of certain diseases, including pulmonary events, worsening their medical condition. The demand for better housing comfort with the creation of "artificial" micro-environments in the house, offers well-being, but often brings a greater quantity of indoor air pollutants, including bioaerosols. The influence of suspended indoor Gram-negative bacteria in basal levels of blood analytical markers of inflammatory and allergic rhinitis, is an important point to consider when attempting to raise the comfort level of a dwelling without negative implications for human health. This study proves that the presence of indoor bacterial endotoxin in the absence of acute pathology, do not affect humans and the improvement of living conditions does not degrade the physiological status of individuals.

The authors present a proposal to develop intelligent assisted living environments for home based healthcare. These environments unite the chronical patient clinical history sematic representation with the ability of monitoring the living conditions and events recurring to a fully managed Semantic Web of Things (SWoT). Several levels of acquired knowledge and the case based reasoning that is possible by knowledge representation of the health-disease history and acquisition of the scientific evidence will deliver, through various voice based natural interfaces, the adequate support systems for disease auto management but prominently by activating the less differentiated caregiver for any specific need. With these capabilities at hand, home based healthcare providing becomes a viable possibility reducing the institutionalization needs. The resulting integrated healthcare framework will provide significant savings while improving the generality of health and satisfaction indicators.

Abstract: Despite the existence of previous studies, both national and regional, studies that demonstrate a strong presence of slaves in Évora in the 15th and 16th centuries, locating them in documents from the city’s female religious communities and understanding their living conditions in those communities is not an easy task. Many of the references to their existence are indirect and related to a dowry or donation (being mentioned as assets with an assigned value), which could be associated with a will, a partition or a sentence. It is also difficult to ascertain the tasks they performed in the everyday life of cloistered communities, particularly the female ones, subject to the post-Tridentine requirements. Only by presenting a series of cases, other than the ones that are already known, will we be able to suggest considerations on this matter.

This paper describes working and living conditions of persons within diplomatic services from the perspective of stress and demands. The conditions of stress and demands described in this article are similar for leaders, volunteers, actors of international agencies and nongovernmental organizations. Scope and diversity of diplomatic tasks and connected psychsocial stress will be outlined. Families of diplomates are also affected. Mental health problems in the diplomatic corps are known, but they are considered as a taboo issue. Consequently, the basis of empirical research and literature is limited. It is mentioned that expatriates, migrants, refugees and students in foreign countries can develop similar problems. The role of psychology and psychotherapeutic interventions are discussed.
