ResumenLa información de las planillas semanales de la empresa González Flores para 1946 y 1961 sirve de base para un estudio de los ciclos laborales y sistemas de trabajo en varias plantaciones de café pertenecientes a ella. Junto con otros datos tomados del archivo de la empresa, de informantes y de fuentes secundarias, ello permite formular algunas conclusiones iniciales sobre los intentos de intensificar la producción mediante aplicación de más abonos e insumos laborales.AbstractInformation from weekly payrolls of the González Flores coffee firm, for the years 1946 and 1961, is applied to a study of labor cycles and systems on several coffee plantations belonging to the firm. Together with other data form the company archives, form informants and form secondary sources, certain initial conclusions are reached regarding attempts to intensify production by means of additional fertilizers and labor.

The aim of this study was to analyze the Quality of Life, Sense of Coherence and Job Satisfaction by teachers of technical schools in the Heredia´s region. A group of 81 educators (25 male and 56 female) joined the study. It was used the SF-36 Questionnaire, the Sense of Coherence scale and a list of items related to the Job Satisfaction. There were found three factors associated to job satisfaction: (1) social atmosphere and job recognition, (2) infrastructure conditions, salary and promotion and (3) amount of job and relationship with the students. In general the results showed scores up of average Quality of Life. However, there were found low scores in central aspects like “Vitality”. The highest factors scores were found by the physical function and the physical role. The sense of coherence scores related to the factors “Life” and “Feelings” were middle. Both factors were significant associated to some dimensions of Quality of Life and Job Satisfaction. In sum, the results showed up, that it is necessary to develop programs in order to enhance sense of coherence and quality of life. Likewise, it is important to promote job satisfaction. A good job satisfaction has positive consequences to the health, and increase the compromise levels and teachers identification to the profession.

Aún cuando el caso de México pueda considerarse como el de un exitoso país exportador a nivel internacional, los beneficios para la sociedad no se han visto plasmados en un incremento y fortalecimiento de la actividad productiva, del empleo y de los salarios y, por tanto en los niveles de bienestar de la población.La aparente competitividad de las exportaciones “mexicanas” se caracteriza por tres particularidades, derivadas del patrón de especialización exportador-maquilador que México adoptó desde inicios de los años noventa: por la exportación de mercancías elaboradas con crecientes insumos importados, por una consecuente destrucción de cadenas productivas nacionales de proveeduría y, además, por un incremento en la productividad de las ramas manufactureras exportadoras basado en salarioscada vez más deprimidos, es decir, mano de obra barata.
