Sobre el poema en prosa en Costa Rica

Se describe y analiza el cultivo y desarrollo del poema en prosa en las letras costarricenses, considerando que no ha sido objeto de suficiente atención por parte de la crítica. Una vez expuestos los aspectos históricos, conceptuales y teóricos, y la procedencia europea de esta modalidad discursiva, se exploran sus manifestaciones desde sus orígenes, a finales del siglo XIX, y el desarrollo posterior hasta sus manifestaciones en la literatura contemporánea.The development and evolution of prose poetry in Costa Rica is described and analyzed in view of the fact that critics have not given it the attention it deserves. A discussion of historical, conceptual and theoretical aspects, together with the European origins of this genre, provides the basis to explore its appearance around the end of the 19th century, and its later development up to the present time.

GEOMORFOLOGIA Y USO DEL SUELO

Se ha pretendido demostrar la importancia de los estudios geomorficos en la planificación del uso del suelo de un área y la manera en que pueden ser afectadas las zonas de expansión urbana por la omisión del factor geomorfológico. El área en Estudio es pequeña, comprende la sección SE de la hoja topográfica Abra, escala 1:50.000, pero se aplico una metodología en la que se hicieron intervenir el análisis de la carta topográfica, de las fotos aéreas y estudios de campo. Se hizo un mapeo de formas y otro de suelos. Se estudió el uso actual del suelo y el uso potencial. ASTRACT The author has attempted to demonstrate the importance of geomorphic studies in the land use planning of an area and the manner in which urban expansion can be affected by the omission of the geomorphologie factor. The small study area covers the southeast section of the Abra topographic map, scale 1:50.000. No matter the size of the study area, a methodology was used that permitted an extensive analysis of the forms and types of landforms encountered. Also studied was the actual and potencial land use of the area.

Modelos, lenguajes y abstracción (ING)

Every construction process (whatever buildings, machines, software, etc.) requires first to make a model of the artifact that is going to be built. This model should be based on a paradigm or meta-model, which defines the basic modeling elements: which real world concepts can be represented, which relationships can be established among them, and son on. There also should be a language to represent, manipulate and think about that model. Usually this model should be redefined at various levels of abstraction. So both, the paradigm an the language, must have abstraction capacity. In this paper I characterize the relationships that exist between these concepts: model, language and abstraction. I also analyze some historical models, like the relational model for databases, the imperative programming model and the object oriented model. Finally, I remark the need to teach that model-driven approach to students, and even go further to higher level models, like component models o business models.

Notas para una reseña de la literatura costarricense

El artículo proyecta una cronología de la literatura costarricense en diversas épocas y géneros. Primeramente el período colonial en donde se dan a conocer los antecedentes de la literatura costarricense. Seguidamente el siglo XIX que expone los hechos de gran significación que revisten en la literatura costarricense, la introducción de la imprenta y con ello la fundación de los primeros periódicos. Por último, los inicios del siglo XX y con este el realismo, el modernismo, el ensayo, la narrativa contemporánea, el género dramático y la lírica contemporánea.
