Recursos metodológicos utilizados por docentes de I y II ciclos de la educación general básica en la Dirección Regional de Heredia, al impartir los temas de probabilidad y estadística

Este artículo describe los métodos, técnicas de enseñanza y recursos didácticos, utilizados por una muestra de docentes de I y II Ciclo de la Educación General Básica en la Dirección Regional Educativa de Heredia al enseñar Probabilidad y Estadística, que surge como resultado de una investigación realizada en el 2009, en Costa Rica. Para obtener los datos necesarios se aplicó un cuestionario auto-administrado a dicha muestra de docentes. En relación con los métodos, dentro de los hallazgos más importantes se encontró una preferencia de los educadores entrevistados, hacia estrategias pedagógicas tradicionales (usan con mayor frecuencia los métodos: deductivo, expositivo, estudio de textos, colectivo). En cuanto a técnicas de enseñanza, se señalaron con uso frecuente la lluvia de ideas, las actividades lúdicas y el trabajo en grupos, que si bien son buenas herramientas para propiciar un proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje en donde el estudiante interactúe con situaciones problemáticas, también pueden emplearse en lecciones tradicionales. La técnica elaboración de proyectos resultó de uso poco frecuente. Además, dentro los principales recursos didácticos elegidos por los docentes, para enseñar Probabilidad y Estadística, se destacan la pizarra y el material fotocopiado; aunque también se mencionaron las actividades lúdicas y el material concreto. The virtual class as a knowledge democratization model

This paper presents the conceptualization and use of a virtual classroom in the course EIF-200 Fundamentos de Informática, first course in the Information Systems Engineering career of the Universidad Nacional of Costa Rica. The virtual classroom is seen as a complement to the class and is conceived as a space that allows to centralize teaching resources, thereby promoting the  democratization of knowledge among students and teachers. Furthermore, this concept of virtual classroom helps to reduce the culture of individualism, present many times in university teaching practices, and contributes to create new opportunities to learn from other colleagues within a culture of reflection, analysis and respectful dialogue aimed to improve the teaching practices.

Online Resources for Improving EFL Teaching and Learning

El presente artículo plantea el beneficio de utilizar recursos en línea en la enseñanza del inglés. Destaca que los estudiantes fortalecerán, no solo el uso de la lengua meta, sino también el de los recursos tecnológicos. Para ejemplificar, se presenta una serie de ejercicios en línea que desarrollan diversas habilidades de la lengua meta como también las ventajas y desventajas del uso de los mismos. Por último, se comparten los resultados obtenidos de una encuesta aplicada sobre el uso de recursos en línea en las clases de inglés.The benefit of using online sources in the EFL class is analyzed here starting from the perspective that this helps students improve not only their use of the language but also their use of technology. Sample online exercises focusing on the development of different language skills are described here, along with the advantages and disadvantages of using online sources. Finally, the results obtained from a survey on the use of online sources in the EFL classes are presented.

The Support Educational Commitee Participation in the Pedagogical Approach of an Educational Integration

Educational services are essential to social and economical development of people, mainly to the progress of all sectors of society. Establishing actions that can promote the participation of various social groups is essential to improve their quality of life and building more respectful and fair human rights without any discrimination or exclusion. In recent years, the Costa Rican education system has undergone significant changes due to the pedagogical approach of inclusive education in which students with educational needs may require different support and specialized resources for training and development. For this, the Basic Educational Division of the Center for Teaching and Research in Education, generated a concern of investigating the participation of the Committee of Educational Support in the process of educational integration, thus, determine the functions performed in the educational context, under the rules of the 7600 Equal Opportunity Act for people with disabilities, which is the entity that corresponds to regulate access to education by identifying the support required for students with educational needs and, advice and trains, administrative staff in schools both public and private in the country. In addition, there is also a concern for exploring the role of the Special Education teacher for this Committee, as well as learning the perceptions of teachers and parents about the functions performed by the committee.
