Cultura e educação indígena: limites do currículo escolar

Este trabalho traz uma reflexão sobre a Educação Indígena no Brasil, com base em dados históricos e estatísticos, de forma a melhor compreender e adequar o currículo escolar às diferentes realidades contextuais. Compreender a educação dos índios nos dias atuais requer uma breve recomposição da historicidade desse povo. Exige o reconhecimento dos 500 anos de história do Brasil, onde os povos indígenas foram expostos a um violento processo civilizatório que implicou em transformações na cultura e identidade desses povos. Mesmo com o desenvolvimento de política de proteção ao índio e com leis voltadas para lhes assegurar a cidadania, observa-se um quadro de exclusão social e cultural.. Entretanto, a cidadania indígena vem sendo negada ao mesmo tempo em que se legitimam discursos de respeito à diversidade e a diferença. A Escola indígena específica e diferenciada surge como um projeto pensado pelos movimentos indígenas com a finalidade de reparar a lacuna existente na história da educação nacional.

Modelling tyre-road noise with data mining techniques

The research aimed to establish tyre-road noise models by using a Data Mining approach that allowed to build a predictive model and assess the importance of the tested input variables. The data modelling took into account three learning algorithms and three metrics to define the best predictive model. The variables tested included basic properties of pavement surfaces, macrotexture, megatexture, and uneven- ness and, for the first time, damping. Also, the importance of those variables was measured by using a sensitivity analysis procedure. Two types of models were set: one with basic variables and another with complex variables, such as megatexture and damping, all as a function of vehicles speed. More detailed models were additionally set by the speed level. As a result, several models with very good tyre-road noise predictive capacity were achieved. The most relevant variables were Speed, Temperature, Aggregate size, Mean Profile Depth, and Damping, which had the highest importance, even though influenced by speed. Megatexture and IRI had the lowest importance. The applicability of the models developed in this work is relevant for trucks tyre-noise prediction, represented by the AVON V4 test tyre, at the early stage of road pavements use. Therefore, the obtained models are highly useful for the design of pavements and for noise prediction by road authorities and contractors.

Smart interior design of buildings and its relationship to land use

Architectural design is often associated with aesthetics and style, but it is also very important to building performance and sustainability. There are some studies associating architectural design to the choice for materials from sustainable sources, to indoor air quality, to energy efficiency and productivity. This article takes a step further to analyse how the use of efficient interior design techniques can impact the habitable space in order to improve building sustainability in land use. Smart interior design, a current trend related to the use of efficient and flexible furniture and movable walls in tiny or compact apartments, is analysed. A building with a standard design is used as a case study reference building and compared to a proposed theoretical design alternative using smart interior design techniques. In order to correctly assess sustainability performance, a quantifiable and verified method is used. Results showed that the use of smart interior design techniques can greatly reduce buildingsâ impact on the environment.

Study of the of the concept of community buildings and its importance for land use efficiency

Nowadays cities are facing several environmental problems due to the population migration to urban areas, which is causing urban sprawl. This way, it is very important to define solutions to improve Land Use Efficiency (LUE). This article proposes the use of community buildings features as a solution to increase land use efficiency. Community buildings consider the design of shared building spaces to reduce the floor area of buildings. This work tests the performance of some case-study buildings regarding LUE to analyse its possible pros and cons. A quantifiable method is used to assess buildingsâ LUE, which considers the number of occupants, the gross floor area, the functional area, the implantation area and the allotment area. Buildings with higher values for this index have reduced environmental impacts because they use less construction materials, produce less construction and demolition wastes and require less energy for building operation. The results showed that the use of community building features can increase Land Use Efficiency of buildings.

Para uns, a imprensa é um pilar estrutural e estruturante dos sistemas democráticos e, nesse quadro, os estados têm responsabilidades no sentido de garantir a pluralidade de vozes e a diversidade de olhares. Para outros, estes mecanismos de apoio promovem o imobilismo e distanciam os jornais da realidade objectiva dos mercados e dos interesses dos leitores. Qualquer que venha a ser a política futura nesta matéria, em Portugal, é notório que a imprensa regional é uma área com reconhecida importância social e à qual o Estado tem dado atenção: produzindo legislação específica, implementando decisões e despendendo, no processo, verbas do erário público.
