Surface electronic structure of the high-Tc oxides

Electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) has been employed to monitor surface conductivity changes in YBa2Cu3O7 as a function of temperature. Concomitant use of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) establishes that the formation of oxygen dimers with lowering of temperature is accompanied by a simultaneous increase of surface conductivity.

In the title complex, [Al(C8H13O3)(3)], a potential metal-organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) precursor, three bidentate ligand molecules are bound to the metal atom, forming an octahedral geometry. Two non-planar six-membered chelate rings adopt screw-boat conformations, while the third ring has a conformation that lies about halfway between an envelope and a screw-boat.

A short, formal synthesis of (+/-)-2-pupukeanone

A short approach to (+/-)-2-pupukeanone, starting from 2,6-dimethylcyclohexenone employing a combination of Michael-Michael reaction and an intramolecular rhodium carbenoid C-H insertion as key reactions, is described.
