CsHaN205, PL a = 6.438 (2), b = 7.486 (3), c = 8.048 (4)A, a = 72.2(1), fl = 80.8(1), y = 76.4 (1) °, D m = 1.65 (1) (flotation), D c = 1.64 Mg m -3, Z = 2. Final R = 0.095 for 1205 observed reflections. C28H48N2Oa.H2 O, Mr=494.7, orthorhombic,P2~2~2~, a = 7.634 (2), b = 11.370 (2), c=34. 167 (4) A, V = 2966 (2) A 3, Z = 4, D m = 1.095,D x -- 1. 108 g cm -3, Mo Kct, 2 -- 0.7107 ,/k, ~ =0.43 cm -~, F(000) = 1088.0, T= 293 K, R = 0.061 for 1578 significant reflections. The second-harmonicgeneration (SHG) efficiency of this compound is negligible (1/100th of the urea standard). The observed low second-order nonlinear response has been attributed to the unfavourable packing of the molecules in the crystal lattice.

The crystal and molecular structure of the title compound has been determined by direct methods from diffractometer data. Crystals are orthorhombic, with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions : a= 13.811 (10), b= 5.095(5), c= 12.914(10)Å, space group P212121. The structure was refined by least-squares to R 3.31% for 868 observed reflections. There is significant non-planarity of the peptide group and its nitrogen atom is significantly pyramidal. There is no correlation between the double-bond character and reactivity of the C–N bond of the terminal amide group in glutamine and acetamide

C17H17N3O2, M(r) = 295.34, orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 7.659 (1), b = 12.741 (1), c = 15.095 (1) angstrom, V = 1473.19 (2) angstrom 3, Z = 4, D(m) = 1.33, D(x) = 1.32 Mg m-3, lambda(Cu K-alpha) = 1.5418 angstrom, mu = 0.68 mm-1, F(000) = 624, T = 295 K, R = 0.031 for 1549 unique observed reflections with I > 2.5-sigma(I). The seven-membered heterocyclic ring adopts a boat conformation flattened at the nitroso end of the ring. The substituent phenyl rings occupy pseudo-axial positions and the nitroso group is coplanar with the C(2), N(1), C(7) plane of the central ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular N-H...O and weak C-H...O hydrogen bonds.

In this Letter, we examine magnetization in double- and zero-quantum reservoirs of an ensemble of spin-1/2 nuclei and describe their role in determining the sensitivity of a class of separated local field NMR experiments based on Hartmann-Hahn cross-polarization. We observe that for the liquid crystal system studied, a large dilute spin-polarization, obtained initially by the use of adiabatic cross-polarization, can enhance the sensitivity of the above experiment. The signal enhancement factors, however, are found to vary and depend on the local dynamics. The experimental results have been utilized to obtain the local order-parameters of the system. In this work, the effect of hybridizing micro-Ti with nano-SiC particulates on the microstructural and the mechanical behaviour of Mg-5.6Ti composite were investigated. Mg materials containing micron-sized Ti particulates hybridized with different amounts of nano-size SiC particulates were synthesized using the disintegrated melt deposition method followed by hot extrusion. The microstructural and mechanical behaviour of the developed Mg hybrid composites were studied in comparison with Mg-5.6Ti. Microstructural characterization revealed grain refinement attributed to the presence of uniformly distributed micro-Ti particles embedded with nano-SiC particulates. Electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD) analyses of Mg-(5.6Ti + 1.0SiC)(BM) hybrid composite showed relatively more localized recrystallized grains and lesser tensile twin fraction, when compared to Mg-5.6Ti. The evaluation of mechanical properties indicated that the best combination of strength and ductility was observed in the Mg-(5.6Ti + 1.0SiC)(BM) hybrid composites. The superior strength properties of the Mg-(5.6Ti + x-SiC)(BM) hybrid composites when compared to Mg-5.6Ti is attributed to the presence of nano-reinforcements, the uniform distribution of the hybridized particles and the better interfacial bonding between the matrix and the reinforcement particles, achieved by nano-SiC addition.

CuIn1-xAlxSe2 (CIASe) thin films were grown by a simple sol-gel route followed by annealing under vacuum. Parameters related to the spin-orbit (Delta(SO)) and crystal field (Delta(CF)) were determined using a quasi-cubic model. Highly oriented (002) aluminum doped (2%) ZnO, 100 nm thin films, were co-sputtered for CuIn1-xAlxSe2/AZnO based solar cells. Barrier height and ideality factor varied from 0.63 eV to 0.51 eV and 1.3186 to 2.095 in the dark and under 1.38 A. M 1.5 solar illumination respectively. Current-voltage characteristics carried out at 300 K were confined to a triangle, exhibiting three limiting conduction mechanisms: Ohms law, trap-filled limit curve and SCLC, with 0.2 V being the cross-over voltage, for a quadratic transition from Ohm's to Child's law. Visible photodetection was demonstrated with a CIASe/AZO photodiode configuration. Photocurrent was enhanced by one order from 3 x 10(-3) A in the dark at 1 V to 3 x 10(-2) A upon 1.38 sun illumination. The optimized photodiode exhibits an external quantum efficiency of over 32% to 10% from 350 to 1100 nm at high intensity 17.99 mW cm(-2) solar illumination. High responsivity R-lambda similar to 920 A W-1, sensitivity S similar to 9.0, specific detectivity D* similar to 3 x 10(14) Jones, make CIASe a potential absorber for enhancing the forthcoming technological applications of photodetection.

The nano ZnFe2O4 compound was prepared by eco-friendly hydrothermal method. The characterization of the sample for its structure, morphology and composition were done by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), dynamic light scattering, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta surface profiler and UV-Visible spectroscopy studies. The PXRD measurement reveals that the compound shows spinel cubic phase belong Fd (3) over barm (227) space group. Morphology of the compound from SEM and surface profile shows nearly spherical agglomerated particles with well defined grains and grain boundaries. The material shows the semiconducting behavior with E-g of 2.3 eV at room temperature (RT). The variation in the magnetic ordering was observed for wide range of temperature. The compound behaves like a soft magnetic material with ferrimagnetic at various temperatures except at RT. Both magnetic and EPR studies supports the superparamagnetic behavior of the the sample. The DC conductivity, dielectric and AC conductivity behavior of the 1000 degrees C pellets sintered for 2 h shows good frequency dependent transport properties. The present study facilitate in selecting the suitable materials for the nanoelectronics and spintronic applications. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
