Albert Einstein Commemorative Medal

Obverse: A likeness of Einstein according to the sculpture seen in the entrance to the Mathematics Institute of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Reverse: A mathematical formula in Einstein's handwriting.

Avdat Commemorative Medal

Obverse: In the center, the arch which served as an entrance to the Acropolis during the historical periods, to the left columns of different sizes, leaves and branches-motif from Nabatean bowl from Avdat, replica of astone relief motif from the late Roman period representing a bird. Reverse: Avdat coin minted by Nabatean King Aretas IV, in the center of the coin with a double cornucopia crossed at its base.

The design of each are drawn in the miniature style of postage stamps and include mock postage prices. Presumably the method was inspired by the shortage of paper in the camp.GURS in Southern France, where these works were done, but the format is also used to stress the Irony of the content, especially in the Trio of designs marked "Liberte-Egalite-Fraternite. Aside from one marked "Avion de Gurs", all other are simply labelled "GURS" at the bottom, as is this were the country of origin of a postal system.
