The memoir contains poems, eulogies and family photos and was written in 1995 in Connecticut. Recollections of the author's childhood in an orthodox Jewish family in the Leopoldstadt, the second district in Vienna. He was the third of four children. Momma's arc 1930-1945

The memoirs were written in New York in 1999. Description of the childhood of Rosemarie Schink, the author's mother, in the rural area of Meuszelwitz, Thuringia, where her grandfather, Franz Harnish, was the station manager. Rosemarie Schink eloped to Amsterdam with the Dutch Jew Judah Easel in 1931. The marriage fall apart soon thereafter, and Rosemarie was taken under the wings of her father-in-law Joseph Easel. The couple stayed officially married until their divorce in 1940, and Rosemarie worked in the pension of her in-laws. Dachau concentration camp - a memoir May to December of 1938

This memoir provides a detailed description of daily life and misery in the concentration camp Dachau. The first eight chapters are missing which would cover Felix Klinen's life in Vienna. The existing memoir then starts with his deportation to Dachau, and ends shortly before his transfer to Buchenwald concentration camp, covering the time from May to December of 1938. Unausloeschliche Erinnerungen 1933

The memoir was published by the Gymnasium Allee-Altona, Hamburg, Ms. Grove's high school, in December 1998. Therefore the main focus lies on Ms. Grove's memories of school life, and the changes after the Nazis' rise to power. Ms. Grove steps back and forth between own memoiries and wider reflections on her relationship to Germany. The memoir includes private and official corespondence, and photographs.

Escape to Shanghai, China, 1939-1949.

This memoir was written for educational purposes, particularly for its use in schools (7th and 8th grade), which is reflected in the style it was written. It also includes a map showing his emigration route from Vienna to Shanghai, a photograph, and many resources for teachers. It was originally published in the State of New Jersey Holocaust/Genocide Curriculum in 2002. The memoir starts with the family’s departure from Vienna, on January 23, 1939. It later on describes daily life in Shanghai and the later Jewish ghetto. The memoir ends with the Seiden family’s departure to Israel on January 1, 1949.

Visit to a Viennese cemetery /

"Visit to a Viennese Cemetary" is a personal reflection about Fireside's first trip back to Austria since his arrival in the USA. It was organised by the "Jewish Welcome Service" in September 2000. This trip brings forgotten memories back to life, questioning the role of Austrians in the Holocaust, and their denial afterwards. The author describes the trip, first days of sightseeing and conversations of his fellow travellers. On the last day, the group went to Zentralfreidhof, the main cemetery in Vienna.

Incredible but true 1921-2005

The memoir was subtitled "A Collection of recollections", and is a collection of various, all but two previously published, essays and articles which cover different aspects of Mr. Brown's life. They are organized in 4 main chapters, "From cradle to crash" (1921-1938), "Exile and Exhaustion" (1938-47), "Life and Liberty" (1947-87), and "Retired and Retried" (1987-2005). As Mr. Brown states, his stories are "true in essence but not in form".

Dreiundsechzig 1933-2005

Irene Runge wrote 14 books so far. This one was written for the occasion of her 63rd birthday - instead of a speech, it was printed and delivered to 63 of her friends. The book is a memoir, and jumps back and forth in time. It consists mostly of personal memories and anecdotes, but there is also an essay-style to it, with very reflective passages and analyses. It is divided into many chapters, which also resemble diary entries. Irene Runge is a member of the "second generation". She was born in the New York exile, but her parents moved back to Germany after the war, during a climate in the USA, which made it very difficult for sympathisers with the communist party. Her memories give rich insight into the life as an emigrant in New York, but also as re-emigrant in Germany. She writes about the their disappointments with the evolving German Democratic Republic (GDR), Eastern Germany, experiences, which repeated again in 1989/1990, when the reunification with West Germany took place. The year 1989 had practical consequences for her private life--she lost her job at the university, because her past seemed not compatible. She discusses the PDS, the party which evolved from the communist party of Eastern Germany, Berlin after the "Wende" (reunification), and life in Berlin after the reunification. At one point she asks whether the current Turkish-Muslim community in Berlin could be comparable to the living conditions of the Jewish community in the 1930. This is a rare memoir documenting many recent aspects of German-speaking Jewry.

In search of Gustav: The story of the Lilienfeld (later Lynfield) family covering the last 200 years 1800-1920

This is the first of three books about the history of Geoffrey Lynfield's family. It is about four Lilienfeld brothers--Geoffrey Lynfield's grandfather and his brothers. They were born in the Jewish enclave of Marburg and ended up in South Africa when and where the first diamonds were discovered. The manuscript also includes photographs and documents.
