We present a feedback control scheme that designs time-dependent laser-detuning frequency to suppress possible dynamical instability in coupled free-quasibound-bound atom-molecule condensate systems. The proposed adaptive frequency chirp with feedback is shown to be highly robust and very efficient in the passage from an atomic to a stable molecular Bose-Einstein condensate.

Using the technique of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage, we propose schemes for creating arbi- trary coherent superposition states of atoms in four-level systems: a A-type system with twofold final states and a four-level ladder system. With the use of a control field, arbitrary coherent superposition states are created without the condition of multiphoton resonance. Suitable manipulation of detunings and the control field can create either a single state or any superposition states desired. (c) 2005 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

量子相干控制前沿问题及应用研究是本世纪物理学前沿领域的重要研究内容.而基于暗态的量子相干控制技术已经导致了在相干布居捕获、绝热跟随、量子信息等多方面的应用.论文主要进行双暗态原子系统动力学行为的若干量子相干控制研究,包括双暗态四能级原子系统的绝热跟随特性研究,双暗态作用提高克尔非线性的新方案提出,自发辐射诱导相干实现非线性极化率的提高以及双通道高效四波混频过程的实现等.

Based on a multiparticle-state stimulated Raman adiabatic passage approach, a comprehensive theoretical study of the ultrafast optical manipulation of electron spins in quantum wells is presented. In addition to corroborating experimental findings [Gupta , Science 292, 2458 (2001)], we improve the expression for the optical-pulse-induced effective magnetic field, in comparison with the one obtained via the conventional single-particle ac Stark shift. Further study of the effect of hole-spin relaxation reveals that, while the coherent optical manipulation of electron spin in undoped quantum wells would deteriorate in the presence of relatively fast hole-spin relaxation, the coherent control in doped systems can be quite robust against decoherence. The implications of the present results on quantum dots will also be discussed. (c) 2005 American Institute of Physics.

We propose a universal quantum computation scheme for trapped ions in thermal motion via the technique of adiabatic passage, which incorporates the advantages of both the adiabatic passage and the model of trapped ions in thermal motion. Our scheme is immune from the decoherence due to spontaneous emission from excited states as the system in our scheme evolves along a dark state. In our scheme the vibrational degrees of freedom are not required to be cooled to their ground states because they are only virtually excited. It is shown that the fidelity of the resultant gate operation is still high even when the magnitude of the effective Rabi frequency moderately deviates from the desired value.

Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) of a relativistic laser in plasmas is studied in the framework of the standard equation set of a three-wave process. As far as every wave involved in the process is concerned, its evolution has two aspects: time-dependent amplitude and time-dependent frequency. These two aspects affect each other. Strict analysis and numerical experiment on the full three-wave equation set reveal that a fast growing mode of the instability, which could reach a balance or saturation point during a period far shorter than an estimation based on conventional analysis, could take place in a standard three-wave process without coupling with a fourth wave. This fast growing mode is found to stem from the constraint set by the background density on the amplitude of the driven Langmuir wave. The effect of various parameters on the development of the SRS instability is studied by numerical calculation of the history of the instability in different cases. In a Nd:glass microspherical cavity the enhancement and inhibition of spontaneous-emission processes that are due to cavity QED effects have been observed. The rates of the enhanced spontaneous emission are location dependent and reach a maximum value of more than 10(3) times the free-space value. The large enhancement strongly modifies the decay processes of Nd ions in glass, and the radiative properties of Nd:glass have been changed. As a result a new spectrum including new lasing wavelengths in the Nd:glass sphere has been observed.

简要介绍了固体拉曼激光器的研究现状,总结了几种常用的同体拉曼晶体[LiIO3,Ba(NO3)2,CaWO4]的受激拉曼实验特性,并对如何设计各种形式的拉曼激光装置以取得良好的频率转换做了分析。最后对同体拉曼激光器的发展做了展望。

由于硝酸钡晶体具有很强的对称振动(频率1047 cm^-1)和较高的拉曼增益,可以用来产生受激拉曼激光.采用单端泵浦的外置拉曼振荡腔与双棱镜分光装置进行了硝酸钡晶体拉曼激光实验,泵浦源为倍频Nd: YAG的532 nm激光,硝酸钡晶体通过水溶液降温法生长,尺寸为10 mm×10 mm×48 mm,采用特殊镀膜的腔镜对各阶斯托克斯光进行优化选择.在泵浦源达到65 mJ时,获得21 mJ一阶斯托克斯光,输出波长为563 nm,以及16 mJ的二阶斯托克斯光,输出波长为599 nm,受激拉曼散射SRS最大的整体

报道了利用重复频率为30HZ,波长为532nm的Nd:YAG倍频激光单次通过抽运硝酸钡(Ba(NO3)2)晶体(晶体由水溶液降温法生长,长度为48mm,横截面为10mm×10mm),获得高效率的一阶(563nm),二阶(599nm)和三阶(639nm)斯托克斯光的实验结果.硝酸钡晶体沿着[110]晶轴方向切割.观测到一、二、三阶斯托克斯光呈锥形环分布,一、二、三阶斯托克斯光的散射外边缘与抽运光轴线间的夹角大小分别为1.7°,3.5°,5.0°.同时也观测到Ba(NO3)2的SRS角度分布与抽运光强度无关.

利用1 064 nm的Nd∶YAG激光抽运振荡腔内的硝酸钡晶体,获得高效率、窄脉冲的喇曼激光输出.硝酸钡晶体由水溶液降温法生长,长度为48 mm.喇曼振荡腔由对抽运光、一阶、二阶斯托克斯光有不同反射率的双色平面镜构成.当抽运光功率达到4.5 W时,获得最高的一阶斯托克斯喇曼激光功率为1.48 W,相应的转换效率为32.9%,并测得斜率效率为40%.由于受激喇曼散射的作用,喇曼脉冲光由抽运脉冲光的19.8 ns压缩为2.4 ns,获得的喇曼激光脉冲波形具有的"上升沿陡峭、下降沿缓慢"的特性,对其形成过程作了

The interaction of shaped laser pulses with plasmas is studied in a strict theoretical framework without adopting the slow-varying envelope approximation (SVEA). Any physical quantities involved in the interaction are denoted as a summation of different real quantities of respective phases. The relationships among the phases of those real quantities and their moduli are strictly analyzed. Such strict analyses lead to a more exact equation set for the three-dimensional envelope of the laser pulse, which is not based on SVEA. Based on this equation set, self-focusing, Raman, and modulation instabilities could be discussed in a unified framework. The solutions of this equation set for the laser envelope reveal many possible multicolor laser modes in plasmas. The energy and the shape of a pulse determine its propagation through plasmas in a multicolor mode or in a monochromic mode. A global growth rate is introduced to measure the speed of the transition from the monochromic mode in vacuum to a possible mode in plasmas. (c) 2006 American Institute of Physics.
