As there exist some problems with the previous laser diode (LD) real-time microvibration measurement interferometers, such as low accuracy, correction before every use, etc., in this paper, we propose a new technique to realize the real-time microvibration measurement by using the LD sinusoidal phase-modulating interferometer, analyze the measurement theory and error, and simulate the measurement accuracy. This interferometer utilizes a circuit to process the interference signal in order to obtain the vibration frequency and amplitude of the detective signal, and a computer is not necessary in it. The influence of the varying light intensity and light path difference on the measurement result can be eliminated. This technique is real-time, convenient, fast, and can enhance the measurement accuracy too. Experiments show that the repeatable measurement accuracy is less than 3.37 nm, and this interferometer can be applied to real-time microvibration measurement of the MEMS. (C) 2007 Elsevier GmbH. Background: A time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA), based on anti-microcystin-LR (MCLR) monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) and europium-labeled antimouse IgG conjugate, was first developed for microcystin detection. Methods: Anti-MCLR MAbs were prepared by a standard method, and the attained MAbs showed a good cross reactivity with MCLR, MCRR and MCYR. The TRFIA was performed in an indirect competitive mode. The detection method of TRFIA was compared with indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Results: The TRFIA exhibited a typical sigmoidal response for MCLR at concentrations of 0.005-50 ng/ml, with a wide quantitative range between 0.01 and 10 ng/ml, indicating the broadest detective range and the most sensitive of all the methods for microcystins (MCs) detection. Additionally, the TRFIA maintained good reliability through its quantitative range, as evidenced by low coefficients of variation (1.6-12.2%). The toxin data of algal samples assayed from TRFIA were in the same range as those with ELISA and HPLC, implying that the method was reliable and practical for the detection of MCs. Conclusions: The TRFIA may offer a valuable alternative or a substitute for conventional ELISA for microcystin detection. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The in-site functionalization of 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) self-assembled monolayer on gold electrode at physiological pH yields a redox active monolayer of 4'-mercapto-N-phenylquinone diimine (MNPD). The functionalized electrode exhibits excellent electrocatalytic responses towards dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA), reducing the overpotentials by about 0.22 V and 0.34 V, respectively, with greatly enhanced current responses. Due to its different catalytic activities toward DA and AA, the modified electrode resolves the overlapping voltammetric responses of DA and AA into two well-defined voltammetric peaks by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), which can be used for the simultaneous determination of these species in a mixture. The catalytic peak current obtained from DPV was linearly related to DA and AA concentration in the ranges of 5.0 x 10-6 - 1.25 x 10-4 M and 8.0 x 10-6 - 1.3 x 10-4 M with correlation coefficient of 0.999 and 0.998, respectively. The detective limits (3sigma) for DA and AA were found to be 1.2 x 10-6 M and 2.4 x 10-6 M, respectively.
