We propose an approach to construct waveguide intersections with broad bandwidth and low cross-talk for square-lattice photonic crystals. by utilizing a vanishing overlap of the propagation modes in the waveguides created by defects which support dipole-like defect modes. The finite-difference time-domain method is used to simulate the waveguide intersection created in the two-dimensional square-lattice photonic crystals. Over a bandwidth of 30 nm with the center wavelength at 1300 nm, transmission efficiency above 90% is obtained with cross-talk below -30 dB. Especially, we demonstrate the transmission of a 500-fs pulse at 1.3 Am through the intersection, and the pulse after transmission shows very little distortion while the cross-talk remains at low level meantime. In the present talk, the simulation of vortex dominant and turbulent flows are primarily addressed. To cope with complicated circumstances in environmental flows we illustrate the strategy of combining simplified physical model and suitable algorithm by a few examples.

The experimental and theoretical investigations into the head-on collision between a landing droplet with another one resting on the PDMS substrate were addressed in this talk. The colliding process of the two droplets was recorded with highspeed camera. Four different responses after collision were observed in our experiments: complete rebound, coalescence, partial rebound with conglutination, and coalescence accompanied by conglutination. The contact time between the two colliding droplets was found to be in the range of 10-20 milliseconds. For the complete bouncing case, Hertz contact model was applied to estimate the contact time of the binary head-on colliding droplets with both the droplets considered as elastic bodies. The estimated contact time was in good agreement with the experimental result.

In near wall measurements with microPIV/PTV, whether seeding particles can be effectively used to detect local fluid velocity is a crucial problem. This talk presents our recent measurements in microchannels [1][2]. Based on measured velocity profiles with 200nm and 50nm in pure water, we found that the measured velocity profiles are agreed with the theoretical values in the middle of channel, but large deviations between measured data and theoretical prediction appear close to wall (0.25mm

A display hologram of an object can be recorded and reconstructed in three primary colors if the angular selectivity of volume recording media is exploited. Three holograms are recorded in the same medium, each at a different primary color. These three holograms are reconstructed by simultaneous illumination of the hologram with the original reference beams. By proper choice of the angles that the reference beams make to the hologram, it is possible to suppress strongly cross talk between the different reconstructions (e.g., the red object reconstruction in green light). The technique exhibits high resolution, high diffraction efficiency, and vivid colors. Through the addition of three holographically recorded volume gratings it is possible to reconstruct the hologram with a beam of white light. The saturation and brightness of each primary color in the reconstruction can be adjusted by selection of an appropriate thickness for the corresponding grating.

A previously suggested birefringence-customized modular optical interconnect technique is extended for lens-free relay operation. Various lens-free relay imaging models are developed. We claim that the lens-free relay system is important in simplifying an optical interconnect system whenever the imaging conditions permit. To verify the validity of various proposed concepts, we experimentally implemented some 8 x 8 optical permutation modules. High-power efficiency and low channel cross talk were experimentally observed. In general, the larger the channel spacing, the less the cross talk. A quantitative cross-talk measurement of the lens-free relay system shows that, for a fixed channel width of 0.5 mm and channel spacings of 0.5, 1, and 2 mm, a less than -20-dB cross-talk performance can be guaranteed for lens-free relay distances of 40, 280, and 430 mm, respectively. 报道了基于双面反射镜的N×N光开关器件。介绍了使用双面反射镜的2×2, 4×4光开关的集成光路设计和工作原理; 采用Benes网络, 以2×2和4×4光开关为基本单元的N×N光开关器件的整体结构, 并根据“一笔画”原理, 分析了4×4, 8×8和16×16光开关矩阵的可重排无阻塞特性和光开关矩阵的光路选择算法。最后, 基于2×2, 4×4光开关技术制备了16×16光开关矩阵。测试表明, 该器件具有良好的插入损耗、回波损耗、串扰和开关时间等性能, 从而验证了设计思想和工艺的可行性。在基于双面反射镜的光开关矩

赤霉素(gibberellins,GAs)和油菜甾醇(brassinosteroids,BRs)在细胞伸长和植株形态建成等方面发挥重要的生理作用,但它们在分子水平上的相互作用仍然未知。在本实验室前期的芯片工作中筛选到受GA诱导表达的GAST家族基因OsGSR1(GA-stimulated gene in rice) (GenBank AY604180)。该基因全长cDNA为588 bp,编码110个氨基酸,OsGSR1具有GAST家族成员的共同特点。OsGSR1基因的表达受GA3诱导,同时受PAC抑制。基因表达模式分析表明OsGSR1在水稻的根、茎、幼穗和小花等多种组织和器官中表达。前期工作已获得转基因水稻。 本论文研究表明,OsGSR1 RNAi转基因水稻表现为初生根缩短、叶片直立、节间缩短和结实率降低等与GA和BR相关的表型。OsGSR1 RNAi转基因水稻对外源GA3敏感性降低,Real-time PCR分析表明在OsGSR1 RNAi转基因水稻中OsGA20ox2和SLR1的转录水平增高,GC-MS分析显示内源GA4含量增高,这些结果说明转基因材料中GA信号削弱。因此,OsGSR1是GA信号途径的正调控因子。另一方面,实验证据表明,外源BL处理可以抑制OsGSR1基因的表达,OsGSR1 RNAi转基因水稻不但可以响应外源BL处理,并且在叶夹角实验中显现出对外源BL更加敏感的特性。在OsGSR1 RNAi转基因水稻中,BR受体基因OsBRI1与合成基因OsDWARF表达量上调。外源添加BL可以恢复OsGSR1 RNAi转基因水稻矮化表型,上述结果说明OsGSR1可能作用于BR生物合成途径。酵母双杂交筛选、体外Pull-down结果和体内BiFC实验都证实OsGSR1可以与DIM/DWF1互作。在BR生物合成途径中,DIM/DWF1催化从24-亚甲基固醇(24-methylenecholesterol)到油菜甾醇(campesterol)的转化。GC-MS测定内源BRs含量结果进一步证实,转基因水稻中DIM/DWF1催化反应产物积累量减少,说明该反应受到明显抑制。所以,OsGSR1是通过直接作用于BR合成酶来调控BR生物合成。 综上所述,OsGSR1是GA信号途径的正调控因子,并且OsGSR1通过调节SLR1的表达参与到GA信号转导途径。OsGSR1和DIM/DWF1的互作说明OsGSR1直接参与了BR的生物合成过程。因此,我们的实验证明OsGSR1介导了GA和BR这两条激素信号转导途径的相互作用,从而调节了水稻植株的生长发育。
