A novel hybrid photochromic composite film composed of Preyssler's heteropoly acid H-12[EuP5W30O110] (EuP5W30) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was prepared by dip-coating method. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to investigate the surface topography. The change of characteristic peak in the infrared spectra (IR) was investigated. The TG curve showed three steps of weight loss and approximately revealed the composition of the hybrid film. Ultraviolet-visible adsorption spectra (UV-VIS) and electron resonance spectrum (ESR) were used to investigate the photochromic behavior and mechanism of hybrid film. The photoluminescent behavior of the film at room temperature was investigated to show the characteristic Eu3+ emission pattern of D-5(o)-F-7(J). The occurrence of photoluminescent activity confirms the potential for creating luminescent thin film with polyoxometalates (POMs).

研究了单体及粘结剂等成份对全息光致聚合物薄膜光存储性能的影响。在相同引发条件下.以丙烯酰胺作为单体时,光聚物的衍射效率明显高于以丙烯酸和N羟甲基丙烯酰胺作为单体时光聚物的衍射效率。向丙烯酰胺中加入少量N-羟甲基丙烯酰胺,可以改善膜表面的光学质量.降低散射光强度,并提高膜的保存时间。在聚乙烯醇膜中单体聚合程度明显优于在聚乙烯吡咯烷酮中的程度,在大分子量的聚乙烯醇中的衍射效率及感光灵敏度高于在小分子量中的衍射效率和感光灵敏度,而且大分子量的聚乙烯醇能够制备厚膜,这是实现全息海量存储的一个重要因素。

The objectives were to investigate the effect of cryoprotectants on the hatching rate of red seabream embryos. Heart-beat embryos were immersed in: five permeable cryoprotectants, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), glycerol (Gly), methanol (MeOH), 1,2-propylene glycol (PG), and ethylene glycol (EG). in concentrations of 5-30% for 10, 30, or 60 min; and two non-permeable cryoprotectants: polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), and sucrose (in concentrations of 5-20% for 10 or 30 min). The embryos were then washed and incubated in filtered seawater until hatching occurred. The hatching rate of the embryos treated with permeable cryoprotectants decreased (P < 0.05) with increased concentration and duration of exposure. In addition, PG was the least toxic permeable cryoprotectant, followed by DMSO and EG, whereas Gly and MeOH were the most toxic. At a concentration of 15% and 30 min exposure, the hatching rate of the embryos immersed in PG was 93.3 +/- 7.0% (mean +/- S.D.), however. in DMSO. EG, Gly. and MeOH, it was 82.7 +/- 10.4, 22.0 +/- 5.7, 0.0 +/- 0.0, and 0.0 +/- 0.0%, respectively. Hatching rate of embryos treated with PVP decreased (P < 0.05) with the increase of concentration and exposure time, whereas for embryos treated with sucrose, there was no significant decrease in comparison with the control at the concentrations used. This paper reports a new patterning method, the complementary-structure micropatterning (CSMP) technique, to fabricate the undercut structures for the passive-matrix display of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). First, the polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) stripe patterns with a trapeziform cross-section were formed by micromolding in capillaries. Then the photoresist was spin coated on the substrate with the patterned PVP stripes and developed in water.

We first reported that polyvinylpyrrolidone-protected graphene was dispersed well in water and had good electrochemical reduction toward O-2 and H2O2. With glucose oxidase (GOD) as an enzyme model, we constructed a novel polyvinylpyrrolidone-proteeted graphene/polyethylenimine-ftmctionalized ionic liquid/GOD electrochemical biosensor, which achieved the direct electron transfer of GOD, maintained its bioactivity and showed potential application for the fabrication of novel glucose biosensors with linear glucose response up to 14 mM.

In the paper, we report an efficient method to prepare high yield (up to 97%) of silver nanoplates. Synthesis of silver nanoplates was carried Out in a binary solvent system of N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and toluene, in which DMF served as the reductant and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the capping agent. By increasing the ratio of toluene to DMF to 7:6, silver nanoplates can be Successfully synthesized; otherwise other shaped nanoparticles would be the major products. The nanoplate sample was characterized by TEM, HRTEM, SAED, XRD, AFM and UV-visible spectroscopy, proving the high nanoplate purity of this sample. The influence of toluene content, other solvents, AgNO3 concentration, preparation temperature and chloride ions was also examined, which suggests that the function of nonpolar solvents in this system is to enhance the PVP coverage on silver surface and, furthermore, to facilitate the preferential adsorption of PVP on two (I I I) facets of silver nanoplates.

A polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) capillary Ubbelohde viscometer was designed and constructed. The relative viscosities of aqueous solutions of a polyethylene oxide and a polyvinylpyrrolidone sample were carefully determined down to an extremely dilute concentration region. In comparison with the data obtained from the common glass capillary viscometer, slippage is believed to occur in the PTFE capillary due to its hydrophobic nature. While for the glass capillary viscometer, conventional viscous flow is operative and adsorption phenomena occur since both the solvent water and aqueous solution are wet and/or adsorbed onto the glass capillary surface due to the existence of hydroxyl groups on glass surface. The data were analyzed with a recently developed wall-effect theory and satisfactory results were obtained.
