A new non-cyclic ligand, tris(4-carboxy-3-oxabutyl) amine (H3L . HCl) and its lanthanum(III) complex have been prepared and their crystal structures determined. In the lanthanum(III) complex the metal ion is coordinated to one nitrogen atom, three ether o

Experimental stress-strain data of OFHC copper first under torsion to 13% and then under torsion-tension to about 10% are used to study the characteristics of three elastic-plastic constitutive models: Chaboche's super-positional nonlinear model, Dafalias and Popov's two surface model and Watanabe and Atluri's version of the endochronic model. The three models, originally oriented for infinitesimal deformation, have been extended for finite deformation. The results show (a) the Mises-type yield surface used in the three models brings about significant departure of the predictions from the experimental data; (b) Chaboche's and Dafalias' models are easier than Watanabe and Atluri's model in determining the material parameters in them, and (c) Chaboche's and Watanabe & Atluri's models produce almost the same prediction to the data, while Dafalias' model cannot accurately predict the plastic deformations when a loading path changes in its direction. The capacity degradation of bucket foundation in liquefied sand layer under cyclic loads such as equivalent dynamic ice-induced loads is studied. A simplified numerical model of liquefied sand layer has been presented based on the dynamic centrifuge experiment results. The ice-induced dynamic loads are modeled as equivalent sine cyclic loads, the liquefaction degree in different position of sand layer and effects of main factors are investigated. Subsequently, the sand resistance is represented by uncoupled, non-linear sand springs which describe the sub-failure behavior of the local sand resistance as well as the peak capacity of bucket foundation under some failure criterion. The capacity of bucket foundation is determined in liquefied sand layer and the rule of capacity degradation is analyzed. The capacity degradation in liquefied sand layer is analyzed comparing with that in non-liquefied sand layer. The results show that the liquefaction degree is 0.9 at the top and is only 0.06 at the bottom of liquefied sand layer. The numerical results are agreement well with the centrifugal experimental results. The value of the degradation of bucket capacity is 12% in numerical simulating whereas it is 17% in centrifugal experiments.

A compact non-stoichiometric molybdenum (VI, V) oxide of blue film was grown on carbon fiber (CF) microelectrode surface be cycling the potential between + 0.2V and - 0.70V in a freshly prepared Na2MoO4 solution containing 5 x 10(-3) mol/L H2SO4. The quantity-of the oxide is controlled by the charge passing the electrode. The electrochemical pretreatment of CF microelectrode not only mises the deposition velocity of molybdenum oxide on CF surface, but also improves greatly the cyclic voltammetric behavior of the molybdenum oxide film prior to the electrodeposition. The cathodic processes are believed to yield the hydrogen molybdenum oxide bronzes HxMoO3(0 < x < 2), or substoichiometric lower molybdenum oxides with the formula MoO3-y(0 < y < 1). The anodic response results from the reversible oxidation of molybdenum bronze/Mo(V) centers [or perhaps Mo(IV) in more reduced coatings], to Mo(VI). Further information was gained about the chemical composition and valent state of Mo from XPS and SEM.
