The effect of adding acetic acid on the product distribution in gas phase oxidative dehydrogenation of cyclohexane over alpha(1)-VOPO4 catalyst was investigated. The role of acetic acid in the reaction process was put forward. The proposed mechanism is that acetic acid take precedence of cyclohexane adsorbing on the active sites of alpha(1)-VOPO4 catalyst to form isolated active site. Thus, cyclohexene species can desorb quickly from the active sites, avoiding its deep oxidation dehydrogenation. Almost 100% selectivity to cyclohexene could be obtained when the molar ratio of acetic acid to cyclohexane was 12.9:1 at 450 degrees C, the conversion of cyclohexane was 6.9%.

We reported a simple and effective green chemistry route for facile synthesis of nanowire-like Pt nanostructures atone step. In the reaction, dextran acted as a reductive agent as well as a protective agent for the synthesis of Pt nanostructures. Simple mixing of precursor aqueous solutions of dextran and K2PtCl4 at 80 degrees C could result in spontaneous formation of the Pt nanostructures. Optimization of the experiment condition could yield nanowire-like Pt nanostructures at 23:1 molar ratio of the dextran repeat unit to K2PtCl4.

Green-emitting iridium dendrimers with rigid hole-transporting carbazole dendrons are designed, synthesized, and investigated. With second-generation dendrons, the photoluminescence quantum yield of the dendrimers is up to 87% in solution and 45% in a film. High-quality films of the dendrimers are fabricated by spin-coating, producing highly efficient. non-doped electrophosphorescent organic light-ernitting diodes (OLEDs). With a device structure of indium tin oxide/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiopheiie):poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/neat dendrimer/1,3,5-tris(2-N-phenylbenzimidazolyl)benzene/LiF/Al, a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 10.3% and a maximum luminous efficiency of 34.7 cd A(-1) are realized. By doping the dendrimers into a carbazole-based host, the maximum EQE can be further increased to 16.6%. The integration of rigid hole-transporting dendrons and phosphorescent complexes provides a new route to design highly efficient solution-processable dendrimers for OLED applications.
Wave propagation and the frequency domain Green's functions in viscoelastic Biot/squirt (BISQ) media
Resumo:
In this paper, we examine the characteristics of elastic wave propagation in viscoelastic porous media, which contain simultaneously both the Biot-flow and the squirt-flow mechanisms (BISQ). The frequency-domain Green's functions for viscoelastic BISQ media are then derived based on the classic potential function methods. Our numerical results show that S-waves are only affected by viscoelasticity, but not by squirt-flows. However, the phase velocity and attenuation of fast P-waves are seriously influenced by both viscoelasticity and squirt-flows; and there exist two peaks in the attenuation-frequency variations of fast P-waves. In the low-frequency range, the squirt-flow characteristic length, not viscoelasticity, affects the phase velocity of slow P-waves, whereas it is opposite in the high-frequency range. As to the contribution of potential functions of two types of compressional waves to the Green's function, the squirt-flow length has a small effect, and the effects of viscoelastic parameter are mainly in the higher frequency range.

We report a method for the selective introduction of fluorescent Ag nanoclusters in glass. Extinction and photoluminescence spectra show that a fraction of the Ag atoms are generated through femtosecond laser induced multiphoton reduction and then aggregate to form Ag nanoclusters after heat treatment. Red luminescence from the irradiated region is observed under blue or green laser excitation. The fluorescence can be attributed to interband transitions within Ag nanoclusters. This method provides a novel route to fabricate fluorescent nanomaterials in 3D transparent materials. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Nonvolatile holographic recording is performed with green light in LiNbO3:Ce:Cu crystals. The refractive-index change and the recording sensitivity are times better than those obtained by recording with red light, and higher optical fixing efficiency is obtained. Correspondingly, theoretical investigations are given.

The effect of laser fluence on the crystallization of amorphous silicon irradiated by a frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser is studied both theoretically and experimentally. An effective numerical model is set up to predict the melting threshold and the optimized laser fluence for the crystallization of 200-nm-thick amorphous silicon. The variation of the temperature distribution with time and the melt depth is analyzed. Besides the model, the Raman spectra of thin films treated with different fluences are measured to confirm the phase transition and to determine the optimized fluence. The calculating results accord well with those obtained from the experimental data in this research. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

An interesting fluorescence intensity reverse photonic phenomenon between red and green fluorescence is investigated. The dynamic range. of intensity reverse between red and green fluorescence of Er( 0.5) Yb( 3): FOV oxyfluoride nanophase vitroceramics, when excited by 378.5nm and 522.5nm light respectively, is about 4.32 x 10(2). It is calculated that the phonon- assistant energy transfer rate of the electric multi- dipole interaction of {(4)G(11/2)( Er3+) -> F-4(9/2)( Er3+), F-2(7/2)( Yb3+). F-2(5/2)( Yb3+)} energy transfer of Er( 0.5) Yb( 3): FOV is around 1.380 x 10(8) s(-1), which is much larger than the relative multiphonon nonradiative relaxation rates 3.20 x 10(5) s(-1). That energy transfer rate for general material with same rare earth ion's concentration is about 1.194 x 10(5) s(-1). These are the reason to emerge the unusual intensity reverse phenomenon in Er( 0.5) Yb( 3): FOV. (C) 2007 Optical Society of America.

Structural and infrared-to-visible upconversion fluorescence properties in ytterbium-sensitized erbrium-doped novel lead-free germanium bismuth-lanthanum glass have been studied. The structure of lead-free germanium-bismuth-lanthanum glass was investigated by peak-deconvolution of Raman spectrum, and the structural information was obtained from the peak wavenumbers. Intense green and red emissions centered at 525, 546, and 657 nm, corresponding to the transitions 2H(11/2) -> I-4(15/2), S-4(3/2) -> I-4(15/2), and F-4(9/2) -> I-4(15/2), respectively, were observed at room temperature. The quadratic dependence of the 525, 546, and 657 nm emissions on excitation power indicates that a two-photon absorption process occurs under 975 nm excitation. This novel lead-free germanium-bismuth-lanthanum glass with low maximum phonon energy (similar to 751 cm(-1)) can be used as potential host material for upconversion lasers. A colorless transparent, blue green emission material was fabricated by sintering porous glass impregnated with copper ions. The emission spectral profile obtained from Cu+ -doped high silica glass (HSG) by 267-mn monochromatic light excitation matches that obtained by pumping with an 800-nm femtosecond laser, indicating that the emissions in both cases come from an identical origin. The upconversion emission excited by 800-nm femtosecond laser is considered to be a three-photon excitation process. A tentative scheme of upconverted emission from Cu+ -doped HSG was also proposed. The glass materials presented herein are expected to find application in lamps, high density optical storage, and three-dimensional color displays.
