The fanning of Chinese mitten crab, a quality aquatic product in China and neighbouring Asian countries, has been developing rapidly in China since last decade. It reached a total yield of 3.4 X 10(5) tonnes in 2002. Due to the successive over-stocking year after year, many lakes in the mid-lower Yangtze Basin, the main farming area, are under deterioration, leading to a reduction of crab yield and quality, and, subsequently, a loss of fanning profits. Aiming at a normal development of crab culture and the sustainable use of lakes, an annual investigation dealing with lake environmental factors in relation to stocked crab populations was carried out at 20 farms in 4 lakes. The results show that the submersed macrophyte biomass (B-Mac) is the key factor affecting annual crab yield (CY). Using the ratio of Secchi depth to mean depth (Z(SD)/Z(M)), an easily measured parameter closely correlated to BMac, as driving variable, 10 regression models of maximal crab yields were generated (r(2) ranging 0.49-0.81). Based on the theory of MSY (Maximum Sustainable Yield), in combination with body-weight (BW) and recapture rate (RR) of adult crabs, a general optimal stocking model was eventually formulated. Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that is particularly toxic to crustaceans. It is therefore applied as a chemotherapeutant in farms for the treatment of pests. The effective concentrations of cypermethrin on the inhibition of Scenedesmus ohliquus growth at 96h (96h EC50) were determined to be 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250mg/L. Algal growth, pigment fractions, and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the algal cells were measured in the exponential phase after exposure to cypermethrin. The results show that higher concentration of cypermethrin is inhibitory for growth and other metabolic activities and the 96h EC50 of cypermethrin to S. ohliquus is 112 +/- 9 mg/L; the potential application of SOD activity in S. ohliquus as a sensitive biomarker for cypermethrin exposure is also discussed. Sustainable water use is seriously compromised in the North China Plain (NCP) due to the huge water requirements of agriculture, the largest use of water resources. An integrated approach which combines the ecosystem model with emergy analysis is presented to determine the optimum quantity of irrigation for sustainable development in irrigated cropping systems. Since the traditional emergy method pays little attention to the dynamic interaction among components of the ecological system and dynamic emergy accounting is in its infancy, it is hard to evaluate the cropping system in hypothetical situations or in response to specific changes. In order to solve this problem, an ecosystem model (Vegetation Interface Processes (VIP) model) is introduced for emergy analysis to describe the production processes. Some raw data, collected by investigating or observing in conventional emergy analysis, may be calculated by the VIP model in the new approach. To demonstrate the advantage of this new approach, we use it to assess the wheat-maize rotation cropping system at different irrigation levels and derive the optimum quantity of irrigation according to the index of ecosystem sustainable development in NCP. The results show, the optimum quantity of irrigation in this region should be 240-330 mm per year in the wheat system and no irrigation in the maize system, because with this quantity of irrigation the rotation crop system reveals: best efficiency in energy transformation (transformity = 6.05E + 4 sej/J); highest sustainability (renewability = 25%); lowest environmental impact (environmental loading ratio = 3.5) and the greatest sustainability index (Emergy Sustainability Index = 0.47) compared with the system in other irrigation amounts. This study demonstrates that application of the new approach is broader than the conventional emergy analysis and the new approach is helpful in optimizing resources allocation, resource-savings and maintaining agricultural sustainability.

The free living conchocelis of Porphyra yezoensis Ueda was treated with N-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine to induce pigmentation mutants. The artificial green pigmentation mutant of P. yezoensis conchocelis, which was composed entirely of green cells, was isolated through visualization with the unaided eye. The acquired green conchocelis was further developed into a green gametophytic blade. This mutant was relatively stable in color in both gametophytic blade and conchocelis phases. The gametophytic blade mutant was successively cultivated for commerce at some Porphyra farms in Rudong, China, and few wild type or sectorially variegated gametophytic blade occurred, indicating that the green mutant has commercial value. The green mutant was characterized as having lower phycoerythrin and higher phycocyanin content, and SDS-PAGE suggested that phycoerythrin was missing the gamma-subunit in comparison to the wild type. The wild type and the green mutant showed a clear difference in 02 evolution rates in white, green, yellow, and red light, which might be due to the qualitative and quantitative changes of phycoerythrin, and the quantitative difference of phycocyanin. In the current abalone hatchery in China, insufficient diatoms on vertically placed corrugated pvc plates at later stage often could not support the growth of postlarvae up to the stage that they can feed on live macroalgae. As a result, stripping the spats (35 mm) off by anaesthetization and switching the diet from live diatoms to artificial powdered diet in combination has to be performed in most of the abalone farms. This manipulation normally leads to more than 50% mortality. Here we report the direct use of the unicellular green alga Platymonas helgolandica Kylin var. tsingtaoensis as a potential alga to be used to settle the veliger larvae of the Pacific abalone Haliotis discus hannai and to feed the postlarvae. Settlement rate of 2-day-old veliger larvae in mono culture of P helgolandica could be as high as 92% ( +/- 4.2%) on day 10 in small scale trials, higher than that in the selected benthic diatom strain (53.6% +/- 12.7%) when settled in the water in which bacteria propagation was controlled by treatment of 2 ppm of benzylpenicillinum calcium and streptomycin sulfate. Postlarvae fed solely on P. helgolandica or the selected benthic diatom Navicula-2005-A grew at rates of 40.1 ( +/- 1.9) and 45.8 (+/- 13.4) mu m day(-1), respectively, when raised at 22 degrees C until day 50 postfertilization. P. helgolandica was shown to have distinct diurnal settling rhythm characterized with a peak of settled cells in the middle of the night for cell division and a peak of free-swimming cells in the middle of the day. High density of attached P. helgolandica cells on the inner surface of the culture facility in the night fits the nocturnal feeding behavior of the abalone spats. Judged by the promising larvae settling rate, growth and survival rates of the postlarvae fed with this alga, the free-swimming micro-green alga P. helgolandica constitutes a potential species for settling the veliger larvae and for supporting the growth of postlarvae as well. 本研究分为三个部分:1.以坛紫菜(Porphyra haitanesis Chang et Zheng)的叶状体和丝状体为研究对象,比较坛紫菜叶状体和丝状体的光合色素、色素蛋白的组成,并提取纯化藻红蛋白、藻蓝蛋白、藻胆体及类囊体膜和光系统。研究结果表明坛紫菜叶状体和丝状体色素及色素蛋白的含量不同,藻红蛋白是主要的色素蛋白,坛紫菜叶状体和丝状体的藻红蛋白的含量分别为2.9mg藻红蛋白/g鲜重、4.2mg藻红蛋白/g鲜重,这表明坛紫菜叶状体和丝状体藻红蛋白含量丰富,是提取藻红蛋白很好的材料。藻胆体的性质差异不大,但类囊体膜差异显著,从坛紫菜叶状体中分离到了两种不同的类囊体膜带,光系统Ⅰ(PSⅠ)和PSⅡ分别结合在两条类囊体膜带上,但从坛紫菜丝状体中也分离到两条类囊体膜带,它们的光谱性质和蛋白组成相似,仅放氧速率和DCIP活性有差异,从坛紫菜丝状体中我们仅分离到PSⅡ。坛紫菜叶状体PSⅡ有5种外在蛋白(33、20、Cytc 550、15、12kDa蛋白),而坛紫菜丝状体外在蛋白仅有4条,缺少12kDa蛋白。2. 以在中国江苏部分地区进行了大规模的商业化栽培的突变体条斑紫菜(Porphyra yezoensis Ueda)和野生型条斑紫菜为研究对象,比较其色素及色素蛋白组成、对不能光质的利用率及藻胆体的组成。条斑紫菜和突变型条斑紫菜对不同的光质利用效果有差异,在白光的照射下,野生型紫菜的放氧速率最大,而突变型紫菜在黄光照射下的放氧速率最大。条斑紫菜野生型与突变型色素含量上有明显的差异,突变型紫菜的藻红蛋白含量明显减少而藻蓝蛋白的含量增加。通过杂交的方法证实诱变所获得条斑紫菜突变体为细胞质突变,但是突变型紫菜却发生了由细胞核编码的γ亚基的缺失,这表明突变型紫菜藻红蛋白含量和性质发生了明显的变化。3. 为了找出淡水红藻-深紫美芒藻(Compsopogon coeruleus (Balbis) Montagne)分布狭窄及生物产量低的原因,本文对深紫美芒藻在不同的盐离子浓度下的放氧速率及藻胆体色素组成和结构上进行研究。结果显示:微量的NaCl(0.1mM)促进深紫美芒藻放氧,而深紫美芒藻在较高的NaCl(1、10mM), NaH2PO4 (0.1、1、10mM)和 NH4NO3(0.1、1、10mM)溶液中却没有检测到氧气的产生。这与深紫美芒藻生长的环境一致即深紫美芒藻生活在低盐浓度、低营养的泉水中。深紫美芒藻的藻胆体是由藻红蛋白、藻蓝蛋白及别藻蓝蛋白组成,上面结合α、β和γ亚基,含有藻红胆素、藻篮胆素,但缺乏缺少藻尿胆素。

滤食性贝类以水体中的浮游植物和有机碎屑为主要食物,养殖海域的初级生产力水平、水动力学特性等生态环境因子的差异,不仅直接影响养殖贝类的产量,而且也与贝类养殖活动对生态环境的压力密切相关。由于养殖的种类、密度、方式及养殖海域的特性不同,关于贝类对生态环境的影响往往有不同的结果。本文以我国北方大连獐子岛扇贝底播海区和荣成桑沟湾贝类筏式养殖区为研究对象,采用现场调查、室内受控实验及生态数值模型模拟方法,分析研究了滤食性贝类对海域生态系统的影响,对这两个海域贝类养殖的生态容量进行了初步的评价。 主要结果: 1. 獐子岛海域底播贝类养殖活动对该海域生态系统的影响较小。非参数统计—符号检验的结果显示,养殖区与非养殖区之间的溶解性无机氮、磷酸盐浓度、氮磷摩尔比及浮游植物群落结构没有统计学上的差异(p>0.05)。但是从变化的趋势上来看,贝类养殖活动对水域环境的某些参数有一定程度的影响。例如,獐子岛底播贝类养殖海域的溶解性无机氮以氨氮为主,可能与贝类的代泄活动有关;不论是叶绿素浓度,还是网采浮游植物的生物量都是贝类高密度养殖区<贝类低密度养殖区<非养殖区(7月份除外),这种趋势可能与贝类的摄食压力有关。 桑沟湾各环境指标表现出明显的区域性。除春季外,非养殖区的DIN浓度高于各养殖区。在春季和冬季,贝类区的磷酸盐浓度显著降低;而硅酸盐浓度在夏季和秋季显著增大。综合分析DIN、PO4-P及SiO3-Si三个参数的四季变化,海带区、贝藻区及贝类区发生显著性变异的概率分别为25%,42%和50%,贝类区的变异较大。浮游植物、小型浮游动物的生物多样性指数都是以非养殖区为最高,贝类区的多样性指数最低。尤其是浮游动物的丰度,贝类区显著低于非养殖区。 2. 利用挪威的MOM (Modelling-Ongrowing fish farms-Monitoring)评价系统,评价了桑沟湾长期大规模的贝藻筏式养殖活动对底质环境的压力。在桑沟湾设10个取样站位,共获得66个底泥样品。比较了MOM-B评价系统的3组参数的季节变化特性。结果显示,底质条件属于1级,说明桑沟湾贝藻长期大规模的养殖活动对底质环境的压力较低。结合桑沟湾的环境及养殖特点,分析了压力较低的原因。 3. 经计算,2006年中国海水养殖的贝类和藻类使用浅海生态系统的碳可达396万吨,并通过收获从海中移出至少136.9万吨的碳。从1995年至2006年,养殖大型藻类和贝类累计移出的碳分别约为365万吨和893万吨,总计达1258万吨。证明了浅海的贝类和藻类养殖活动直接或间接地使用了大量的海洋碳,提高了浅海生态系统吸收大气CO2的能力。 4. 采用模拟现场生物沉积法测定了虾夷扇贝的滤水率、摄食率等生理指标及其与贝类个体大小、水温的关系。虾夷扇贝单位个体的滤水率与组织干重的关系符合幂函数方程CR=a×DWb,b值在0.45~0.65范围内;水温对虾夷扇贝滤水率的影响极其显著(p<0.01),温度(T)与滤水率(CR)呈抛物线的关系:CR=-0.0009T2+0.0188T-0.0306,水温为10℃时,虾夷扇贝的滤水率、摄食较大。 5. 采用模拟现场流水法测定了3种滤食性贝类的食物选择性。紫贻贝、长牡蛎及栉孔扇贝分别对直径4m, 6m 和 8m颗粒的保留效率达到最大值;对小颗粒(直径2m)的保留效率分别为17%, 19% 和 8%。栉孔扇贝对食物数量和质量浓度的变化相对敏感,随着数量浓度的增加,栉孔扇贝倾向于摄食较大的颗粒;随着颗粒食物质量浓度的增加,倾向于摄食较小的颗粒。 6. 獐子岛海域四个航次的调查结果显示,叶绿素浓度在1.23~2.85mg.m-3范围内,均值为1.78±0.57 mg.m-3;初级生产力的变化范围为30.4~117.0 mg C. m-2.d-1,平均值为76.6±41.9 mg C. m-2.d-1。通过虾夷扇贝生物量断面调查,获得了虾夷扇贝的壳高频率分布情况,7月份的众数值出现在100 mm,10月份壳高的众数值为80 mm。利用以上测定的虾夷扇贝的滤水率等基本生物学特性,结合虾夷扇贝的年产量、海域面积和有关的水文状况等数据,计算了滤水效率、摄食压力、调节比率3个食物限制性指标参数,全年的均值分别为0.048, 0.31和 0.16,都小于1,说明目前该海域虾夷扇贝的养殖量未达到养殖容量。 7. 利用STELLA软件,建立的桑沟湾贝藻养殖的数值模型,模拟了叶绿素a浓度及氮磷营养盐的周年变化情况,及其对贝类养殖生物量变化的响应。以叶绿素a浓度为指标,初步探讨了桑沟湾贝类的生态容量。

Fed fish farms produce large amounts of wastes, including dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus. In China, fish mariculture in coastal waters has been increasing since the last decade. However, there is no macroalgae commercially cultivated in north China in warm seasons. To exploit fish-farm nutrients as a resource input, and at the same time to reduce the risk of eutrophication, the high-temperature adapted red alga Gracilaria lemaneiformis (Bory) Dawson from south China was co-cultured with the fish Sebastodes fuscescens in north China in warm seasons. Growth and nutrient removal from fish culture water were investigated in laboratory conditions in order to evaluate the nutrient bioremediation capability of G. lemaneiformis. Feasibility of integrating the seaweed cultivation with the fed fish-cage aquaculture in coastal waters of north China was also investigated in field conditions. Laboratory seaweed/fish co-culture experiments showed that the seaweed was an efficient nutrient pump and could remove most nutrients from the system. Field cultivation trials showed that G. lemaneiformis grew very well in fish farming areas, at maximum growth rate of 11.03% day(-1). Mean C, N, and P contents in dry thalli cultured in Jiaozhou Bay were 28.9 +/- 1.1%, 4.17 +/- 0.11 % and 0.33 +/- 0.01 %, respectively. Mean N and P uptake rates of the thalli were estimated at 10.64 and 0.38 mu mol g(-1) dry weight h(-1), respectively. An extrapolation of the results showed that a 1-ha cultivation of the seaweed in coastal fish fanning waters would give an annual harvest of more than 70 t of fresh G. lemaneiformis, or 9 t dry materials; 2.5 t C would be produced, and simultaneously 0.22 t N and 0.03t P would be sequestered from the seawater by the seaweed. Results indicated that the seaweed is suitable as a good candidate for seaweed/fish integrated mariculture for bioremediation and economic diversification. The integration can benefit economy and environment in a sustainable manner in warm seasons in coastal waters of north China. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
