Self-assembled In0.9Ga0.1As, In0.9Al0.1As, and InAs quantum dots (QD) were fabricated in an InAlAs matrix lattice-matched to an InP substrate by molecular beam epitaxy. Preliminary characterizations were performed using transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence, and reflection high-energy electron diffraction. Experimental results reveal clear differences in QD formation, size distribution, and luminescence between the InAs and In-0.9(Ga/Al)(0.1)As samples, which show the potential of introducing ternary compositions to adjust the structural and optical properties of QDs on an InP substrate. Starting from metal nitrate aqueous solutions and H3BO3, Y0.9-xGdxEu0.1Al3(BO3)(4) (0 <= x <= 0.9) phosphors were synthesized by spray pyrolysis followed by annealing at high temperature. The obtained phosphor particles have spherical morphology with size in the range 0.5-2 mu m. Independent of the x values in Y0.9-xGdxEu0.1Al3(BO3)(4) (0 <= x <= 0.9) phosphors, the Eu3+ ion shows its characteristic D-5(0), (1)-F-7(J) (J = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4) transitions with D-5(0)-F-7(2) red emission (612 nm) as the most prominent group. The photoluminescence intensity of phosphors increases with the increase of x value in Y0.9-xGdxEu0.1Al3(BO3)(4) (0 <= x <= 0.9) due to an energy migration process like Gd3+-(Gd3+)(n)-Eu3+ that occurred in the host materials.

采用溶胶-凝胶法合成(Ce0.9Nd0.1)1-xMoxO2-δ(x=0.00、0.02、0.05、0.10)氧化物,通过X射线衍射(XRD)、场发射扫描电镜(FESEM)等手段对氧化物进行结构表征,交流阻抗谱测试电性能.结果表明:所有样品均为单一萤石立方结构;少量MoO3的加入提高了材料的致密性,降低了材料的总电阻、晶界电阻和晶界电阻在总电阻中所占比例,提高了材料的电导率.1200℃烧结样品24h,测试温度700℃时,(Ce0.9Nd0.1)1-xMoxO2-δ(x=0.00)总电导率和晶界电导率分别为0.05和0.19S·m-1,掺Mo材料(Ce0.9Nd0.1)1-xMoxO2-δ(x=0.02)的总电导率和晶界电导率分别为2.42和3.96S·m-1.

A simple, sensitive, and mild method for the determination of amino compounds based on a condensation reaction with fluorescence detection has been developed. 9-(2-Hydroxyethyl)acridone reacts with coupling agent N,N-carbonyldiimidazole at ambient temperature to form activated amide intermediate 9-(2-acridone)oxyethylcarbonylimidazole (AOCD). The amide intermediate (AOCD) preferably reacts with amino compounds under mild reactions in the presence of 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (base catalyst) in acetonitrile to give the corresponding sensitively fluorescent derivatives with an excitation maximum lambda(ex) 404 mn and an emission maximum at lambda(em) 440 nm. The labeled derivatives exhibit high stability under reversed-phase conditions. The fluorescence intensities of derivatives in various solvents or at different temperatures were investigated. The method, in conjunction with a gradient elution, offers a baseline resolution of the common amine derivatives on a reversed-phase C-18 column. The LC separation for the derivatized amines shows good reproducibility with acetonitrile-water including 2.5% DMF as mobile phase. The relative standard deviations (n = 6) for each amine derivative are <4.5%. The detection limits (at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3) per injection were 0.16-12.8 ng/mL. Further research for the field of application, based on the AOCD amide intermediate as derivatization reagent, for the determination of free amines in real water samples is achieved.

What the real trade-off is among fig-supported wasps and the viable seeds of figs is heatedly debated in the studies of fig/fig wasp mutualism. In the present study, we collected wasp offspring (galls) and the viable seeds of premature fruits, and determined the foundress number in receptive fruits and all the types of wasps supported by Ficus racemosa L. during both the rainy and dry seasons in Xishuangbanna, China. The data show that the galls were positively correlated with viable seeds (n=32;r=0.74; P < 0.001) when the proportion of vacant female flowers (PVFF) was high, in April (68.0%), and were negatively correlated with viable seeds (n=48;r=-0.59; P < 0.05) when PVFF were limited (PVFF 42.6%) during a colder month (January). The mean foundress number per fruit during the colder months is significantly lower than during the warmer months (F-5,F-603 = 27.9; P < 0.001) and pollinator wasps can live longer during the colder months, During the colder months, the proportions of non-pollinators and wasp offspring are higher than those found during other months, whereas the proportion of viable seeds is not different compared with that of other months. Non-pollinator wasps tend to oviposit the female flowers that have been oviposited by pollinator wasps. The non-pollinators only negatively affect pollinator wasps and there is no obvious negative effect of non-pollinator wasps on viable seeds, so ovipositing by non-pollinator wasps will not result in the extinction of the figs during the process of evolution. The results of the present study indicate that figs can allow less foundresses to be in fruit cavities when PVFF are limited, which provides supporting evidence for the previous assumption that the plants have developed a mechanism to maintain a stable system because of the conflicts between the parties involved.

以克拉维酸产生菌棒状链霉菌Streptomyces clavuligerus CCRC11518(ATCC 27064)III50为出发菌株, 首先比较各种物理和化学诱变剂处理对其克拉维酸生物合成的影响, 确定了亚硝基胍为棒状链霉菌诱变育种的诱变剂及其处理剂量: 2mg/ml、40min. 经浓度为2mg/ml的亚硝基胍处理40min后, 采用新颖理性化筛选方法, 通过逐步筛选自身代谢产物抗性突变株、克拉维酸抗性突变株和链霉素抗性突变株, 最终得到一株克拉维酸高产菌VI118(效价633μg/ml), 其克拉维酸效价是出发菌株(效价377μg/ml)的167.9%. 该高产突变株在琼脂斜面培养基上连续传接10代, 克拉维酸效价保持稳定. 通过单因子和多因子摇瓶正交试验, 对高产菌株VI118的发酵条件进行了研究, 确定最佳发酵条件: 甘油60g, 水解植物蛋白 60g, KH2PO4 0.5 g, 玉米浆 7.5g, MnSO4•H2O 0.34g, MgSO4•7H2O 0.99g, FeSO4•7H2O 0.56g, 蒸馏1000ml, pH 7.0, 发酵培养基装量20ml/250ml三角瓶, 接种量10%, 培养温度28ºC, 220r/min摇床培养72h后测定效价. 在最佳发酵条件下克拉维酸效价达到651μg/ml, 同时把初始发酵培养基的昂贵成分替换为廉价的工业原料. 通过摇瓶分批补料试验, 得到最佳补料物质和补料方式:在上述最佳发酵条件下, 分别在发酵培养48h、56h、64h、72h时补加4ml无菌水, 80h发酵结束, 克拉维酸效价达到905μg/ml. 在不增加原料成本的情况下通过摇瓶补料方式克拉维酸效价为未补料的139.0%, 总产量为未补料的264%. By a novel rational screening method, mutant Streptomyces clavuligerus CCRC11518(ATCC 27064)III50(titres 377μg/ml), as the clavulanic acid-producing parent strain, was treated by NTG (2mg/ml) for 40min, and the self-generated metabolites resistant mark, the clavulanic acid resistant mark and the streptomycin resistant mark were added step by step. Finally, the mutant VI118(titres 633μg/ml)with the three marks was obtained. The clavulanic acid productivity of this mutant was increased by 167.9% compared with the parent strain. After reproducing 10 generations on the agar medium slant, the productivity of this mutant was stable. The optimum fermentation conditions were established as followings: glycerol 60g, acid hydrolyzed vegetable protein 60g, KH2PO4 0.5g, corn steep liquor 7.5g, MnSO4•H2O 0.34g, MgSO4•7H2O 0.99g, FeSO4•7H2O 0.56g, distilled water 1 liter, pH 7.0, 20ml in 250ml shake-flask, inoculation 10%(v/v), fermentation temperature 28ºC, rotation speed 220 r/min, time 72h. The clavulanic acid productivity was 651μg/ml, while used the low-priced industrial raw materials. After studying on fed-batch in the shake-flask, the optimum fed-batch manner was obtained: under optimum fermentation conditions, at 48h, 56h, 64h and 72h, adding 4ml distilled water into each flask, fermentation ending at 80h. The clavulanic acid productivity was increased by 139% compared with no fed-batch, meanwhile the total yield was increased by 264%.

Purpose: To investigate the effects of gamma-ray radiation on the physiological, morphological characters and chromosome aberrations of minitubers. Materials and methods: Minitubers of one potato cultivar, 'Shepody', were irradiated with 8 doses of gamma-rays (0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 Gy [Gray]) to investigate the effects of radiation on emergence ability, plant height and root length, morphological variations, chromosome aberrations, M-1 (first generation mutants) tuber number and size of minituber plants. Results: Compared with the non-irradiated controls, the whole period of emergence was prolonged by 10-15 days for minitubers treated with gamma-ray radiation, but low doses of radiation (10, 20 and 30 Gy) promoted the emergence percentage of minitubers. With an increase in radiation dose, the emergence percentage, plant height and root length of minituber plants were significantly inhibited at 40 and 50 Gy. No emergence occurred at 60 Gy and higher doses. After radiation, a series of morphological variations and chromosome aberrations appeared in minituber plants. Radiation with 20 Gy promoted tuber formation, and the average number and diameter of M-1 tubers per plant were significantly increased over the control by 71% and 34%, respectively. Conclusion: Low doses of radiation (10-30 Gy) might be used as a valuable parameter to study the improvement of minitubers by gamma-ray radiation treatment.

Ce6-xDyxMoO15-delta (0.0 <= x <= 1.8) were synthesized by modified sol-gel method. Structural and electrical properties were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The XRD patterns showed that the materials were single phase with a cubic fluorite structure. Impedance spectroscopy measurement in the temperature range between 350 degrees C and 800 degrees C indicated a sharp increase in conductivity for the system containing small amount of Dy2O3. The Ce5.6Dy0.4MoO15-delta detected to be the best conducting phase with the highest conductivity (sigma(t) = 8.93 x 10(-3) S cm(-1)) is higher than that of Ce5.6Sm0.4MoO15-delta (sigma(t) = 2.93 x 10(-3) S cm(-1)) at 800 degrees C, and the corresponding activation energy of Ce5.6Dy0.4MoO15-delta (0.994 eV) is lower than that of Ce5.6Sm0.4MoO15-delta (1.002 eV).

229 SSRs (simple sequence repeats) were identified among 10,443 ESTs (expressed sequence tags) of Chinese shrimp (Fenneropenaeus chinensis). The average density of SSRs was one SSR per 19.1 kb of EST sequence screened. The dinucleotide repeats appeared to be the most abundant SSRs detected. Nine EST-SSR markers were detected polymorphisms of the thirty SSR primer pairs derived from F chinensis ESTs. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 5 to 15, with an average of 9.1 alleles per locus. The observed heterozygosity of nine loci ranged from 0.47 to 0.87. These loci were used successfully for pedigree analysis in three families of Fenneropenaeus chinensis. Two of the nine microsatellite loci showed the existence of null alleles. Assuming the existence of null alleles at Fc07 and Fc14 loci, the allelic inheritance mode of the EST-SSR DNA markers (Fc04, Fc06, Fc07, Fc10, Fc14, Fc18, Fc22, Fc24, and Fc27) was consistent with Mendelian segregation. The ciliate community structure and seasonal dynamics in a solar saltern of the Yellow Sea were studied based oil 4 sampling dates and 8 stations with salinities from 27.7 parts per thousand to 311.0 parts per thousand. The effects of the type and concentration of the fixative used (Lugol's and Bouin's) were tested at the first sampling date. Fixative type and fixative concentration had significant effects on ciliate abundance and blovolume, with 1% Lugol's giving the best results. A detailed investigation using live observations and protargol staining techniques revealed a total of 98 morphospecies from 8 sampling stations. There was obvious seasonal variation in species composition at most of the stations, but this tended to be less distinct with increasing salinity, as the dominant ciliate group shifted from oligotrichs to heterotrichs. Ciliate abundance varied from 4.40 x 10(1) to 2.11 x 10(5) cells l(-1) and biomass ranged between 2.39 and 9.87 x 10(3) mu g Cl-1 (at a salinity of 147.6 parts per thousand). Both abundance and biomass decreased abruptly when salinity exceeded 100-150 parts per thousand. Statistical analyses Suggested that the dynamics of ciliate abundance and biomass were regulated by both salinity and by season, but those of diversity and species richness were mainly controlled by salinity and both significantly decreased with increasing salinity.
