Within the framework of a nonlinear chiral Lagrangian we explore the nontrivial nature of f(0)(600) and f(0)(1370) in terms of quarkonium, tetraquark and gluonium components. The mass constraints are obtained and the strong and radiative partial widths are calculated to demonstrate and discriminate these components. The static properties of f(0)(1500) and glueball are also studied. Our results are confronted with the experimental and theoretical data available as well as the upcoming measurements. In this paper, BPO4-xSiO(2) (X: SiO2/BPO4 molar ratio, 0-70%) and BPO4-xAl(2)O(3) (X: Al2O3/BPO4 molar ratio, 0-20%) powder samples were prepared by the Pechini-type sol-gel (PSG) process using glycerol and poly(ethylene glycol) as additives. The structure and optical properties of the resulting samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), diffuse reflection spectra, photoluminescence (PL) excitation and emission spectra, kinetic decay, and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), respectively. It was found that the Pechini-type sol-gel-derived BPO4-xSiO(2) annealed at 1000 degrees C and BPO4-xAl(2)O(3) annealed at 960 degrees C exhibited bright bluish-white emissions centered at 428 and 413 nm, respectively. The luminescence decay curve analysis indicates that each sample has two kinds of lifetimes (more than 0.4 ms and less than 10 ns) and two types of kinetic decay behaviors, which can be fitted into a double-exponential function and a single-exponential function, respectively.

Shear may shift the phase boundary towards the homogeneous state (shear induced mixing, SIM), or in the opposite direction (shear induced demixing, SID). SIM is the typical behavior of mixtures of components of low molar mass and polymer solutions, SID can be observed with solutions of high molar mass polymers and polymer blends at higher shear rates. The typical sequence with increasing shear rate is SIM, then occurrence of an isolated additional immiscible area (SLD), melting of this island into the main miscibility gap, and finally SIM again. A three phase line originates and ends in two critical end points. Raising pressure increases the shear effects. For copolymer containing systems SID is sometimes observed at very low shear rates, preceding the just mentioned sequence of shear influences.

Phase behaviors and heats of mixing of the miscible blends of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) with different molecular weights were investigated by DSC. A method proposed by Natasohn and Ebert et al. was adopted to estimate the binodal temperatures and the enthalpies of mixing from onset temperatures and values of areas of a series of endothermic peaks (corresponding to heats of demixing), respectively, in their heating scanning thermograms obtained with different heating rates. Phase diagrams and heats of mixing of this blending system were also predicted by using Sanchez-Lacombe lattice fluid theory. A very good agreement was obtained for both. phase behaviors and heats of mixing obtained with two different methods.

The aim of this work is to describe the most recent achievements in the field of the physical chemistry of mixing. The systems studied have been classified according to the amount of thermic effect due to the blending and its interpretation. When polystyrene (PS) and poly(alpha-methylstyrene) (P alpha MS) are blended, the interaction is weak and Delta(mix)H is close to zero. The presence of polar atoms and/or groups increases the stability of the blend and, therefore, Delta(mix)H becomes more negative. Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), poly(methyl acrylate) (PMA), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(vinylacetate) (PVAc), when mixed to form binary systems, show large differences from their properties when pure. If hydrogen bonding takes place, the interactions are readily detected and a large effect is calorimetrically determined. Cellulose diacetate (CDA) and poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) have been studied as an example of a strongly interacting system.

An on-line controlled 7 1 sterilizable photobioreactor was used for the optimisation of a culture of gametophytes of Undaria pinnatifida. The gametophytes, which had been stored for three years in a culture cabinet at 16 degreesC, could rapidly grow in the photobioreactor under controlled conditions. The rate of increase of dissolved oxygen and pH were used to monitor the photosynthetic activity. Optimal gametophytes density changed varying the light intensity. The optimal cell densities were 3.24 and 3.45 g FW l(-1) when the cultures were exposed to 61.7 and 82.3 muE m(-2) s(-1), respectively. The optimal cell density was higher under a high photon flux density (PFD) than under low PFD. On the other hand, the optimal light intensities were different for different cell density cultures. The light saturation point was higher at high cell density cultures than at low cell density cultures. The optimal rotational speed was 150 rpm for high cell density culture in the photobioreactor. Thirty-six basalt samples from near East Pacific Rise 13N are analyzed for major and trace elements. Different types of zoned plagioclase phenocrysts in basalts are also backscatter imaged, and major element profiles scanned and analyzed for microprobe. Basalts dredged from a restricted area have evolved to different extents (MgO=9.38wt%-6.76wt%). High MgO basalts are modeled for crystallization to MgO of about 7wt%, and resulted in the Ni contents (28 ppm) that are generally lower than that in observed basalts (> 60 ppm). It suggests that low MgO basalts may have experienced more intensive magma mixing. High MgO (9.38wt%) basalt is modeled for self-"mixing-crystallization", and the high Ni contents in low MgO basalts can be generated in small scale and periodical self-mixing of new magma (high MgO). "Mixing-crystallization" processes that low MgO magmas experienced accord with recent 226Ra/230Th disequilibria studies for magma residence time, in which low MgO magmas have experienced more circles of "mixing-crystallization" in relatively longer residence time. Magma mixing is not homogeneous in magma chamber, however, low MgO magmas are closer to stable composition produced by periodical "mixing-crystallization", which is also an important reason for magma diversity in East Pacific Rise. Zoned plagioclase phenocrysts can be divided into two types: with and without high An# cores, both of which have multiple reversed An# zones, suggesting periodical mixing of their host magmas. Cores of zoned plagioclase in low MgO (7.45wt%) basalt differ significantly with their mantle in An#, but are similar in An# with microlite cores (products of equilibrium crystallization) in high MgO (9.38wt%) basalt, which further shows that plagioclase phenocryst cores in low MgO basalts may have formed in their parental magmas before entering into the magma chamber.

Stokes drift is the main source of vertical vorticity in the ocean mixed layer. In the ways of Coriolis - Stokes forcing and Langmuir circulations, Stokes drift can substantially affect the whole mixed layer. A modified Mellor-Yamada 2.5 level turbulence closure model is used to parameterize its effect on upper ocean mixing conventionally. Results show that comparing surface heating with wave breaking, Stokes drift plays the most important role in the entire ocean mixed layer, especially in the subsurface layer. As expected, Stokes drift elevates both the dissipation rate and the turbulence energy in the upper ocean mixing. Also, influence of the surface heating, wave breaking and wind speed on Stokes drift is investigated respectively. Research shows that it is significant and important to assessing the Stokes drift into ocean mixed layer studying. The laboratory observations are supporting numerical experiments quantitatively.

Sandstone-type uranium deposits are frequently found close to oil fields or uraniferous sandstones contain bitumen or petroleum. However, few evidence has been presented to indicate the association of uranium mineralization with petroleum oxidation. Thus, Dongsheng uranium deposit in Ordos Basin and Qianjiadian deposit in Kailu Basin are taken for examples to solve the puzzle. Integration data from sedimentary petrology, mineralogy, race elements geochemistry, isotope geochemistry and organic geochemistry, the uranium and petroleum sources, and diagenetic paragenesis of the host sandstone are analyzed, and then the genetic relationship between microbes, petroleum and uranium deposits are discussed. The observation under microscope shows that the host sandstone samples from Middle Jurassic Zhiluo Formation in the Dongsheng deposit contained different kinds of metamorphic rock fragments, which should have been derived form outcrops north to this basin. The LREE/HREE ratios of gneiss and amphibolite sampled from outcrops were close to the highest and the lowest LREE/HREE ratios of the sandstones with well-compared chondrite-normalized REE patterns, respectively. So these results consistently indicated that parent rocks of sandstones were mainly contributed from these two kinds of metamorphic rocks. There was very high Th/U ratio for granite gneiss, which was a mainly potential U resource. Hydrocarbon inclusions and adsorbed hydrocarbons are observed under fluorescence microscope in the host sandstone of Dongsheng uranium deposit, suggesting that the sandstones may have been utilized as oil migration pathways. Based on biomarker parameters, it is indicated that the inclusion oils and adsorbed hydrocarbons were marginally mature to mature, and were derived from humic-sapropel type organic matter under poor reducing freshwater to semi-saline environment. The features are similar to those of organic matter extracted from Triassic sandstone and source rock, but are different from that of cretaceous sandstone. Thus, it can be concluded that the inclusion oils and adsorbed hydrocarbons were mainly derived from Triassic lacustrine facies source rock. Observation results under Scanning Electron Microscopy and Electron Microprobe with Energy Spectrum Analysis show that, in Dongsheng area, the main uranium ore mineral is coffinite. The coffinite is intimately intergrown or coexists with pyrite and calcite, thus, the solution during mineralization stage is inferred to be alkaline. The alkaline environment is not favored for uranium to be pre-concentrated by absorption, and then be reduced abiogenetically. δ34S of pyrite and δ13C of calcite indicate that pyrite was formed by bacterial sulfate reduction (BSR) and part of the carbon of calcite has been dirived from oxidation of petroleum, respectively. Additionally, petroleum is found biodegraded. All the lines of evidence consistently indicate that petroleum was involved in uranium mineralization. Coffinite with microbe-like structures is found in the high U sandstone samples and is composed of nanoparticles, indicating the coffinite is biogenic. The conclusion are also supportted by laboratory experiment studies, which have shown that SRB are capable of utilizing U(VI) as the preferred electron acceptor for respiration and reduce U(VI) to U(IV) directly, coupled the oxidaton of organic matter and sulfate reduction. Based on the research results mentioned above, in the Dongsheng area, coffinite is likely to have formed by mixing of brine containing petroleum derived from Triassic with uranium-bearing meteoric water from outcrops north to Ordos Basin. SRB utilize hydrocarbon as carbon source, and directly reduce U(VI) resulting in precipitation of coffinite. The product of metabolism, H2S and CO2, was precipitated as pyrite and calcite during mineralization stage. Petroleum in fluid inclusions and adsorbed type in host sandstone from Lower Cretaceous Yaojia Formation in Qianjiadian uranium deposit, Kailu Basin, are derived from Jurassic Jiufotang Formation in this basin and the uranium mineral consists mainly of pitchblende. The δ34S and δ13C values of pyrite and calcite during mineralization stage indicate SRB have likely degraded petroleum, which is similar to that of Dongsheng deposit. The alkaline environment as indicated by the diagenetic mineral assemblage calcite, Fe dolomite, pyrite and pitchblende deposit suggests that U ore in the Qiangjiajiadian has a similar origin, i.e., direct reduction by SRB. However, less part of pitchblende is intergrown with kaolinite, suggesting the solution during mineralization stage is acidic. The environment is favorable for U(VI) to be adsorded on quartz or other mineral, and then reduced by H2S produced by SRB. Thus, it can be concluded that U(VI) reduction with petroleum oxidation by SRB and other microbes is an important ore-forming mechanism in petroleum-related sandstone-type uranium deposits. The finding is significant in that it provides a theoretical basis for exploration of both uranium and petroleumr.
