The seafloor of central Eckernförde Bay is characterised by soft muddy sediments that contain free methane gas. Bubbles of free gas cause acoustic turbidity which is observed with acoustic remote sensing systems. Repeated surveys with subbottom profiler and side scan sonar revealed an annual period both of depth of the acoustic turbidity and backscatter strength. The effects are delayed by 3–4 months relative to the atmospheric temperature cycle. In addition, prominent pockmarks, partly related to gas seepage, were detected with the acoustic systems. In a direct approach gas concentrations were measured from cores using the gas chromatography technique. From different tests it is concluded that subsampling of a core should start at its base and should be completed as soon as possible, at least within 35 min after core recovery. Comparison of methane concentrations of summer and winter cores revealed no significant seasonal variation. Thus, it is concluded that the temperature and pressure influences upon solubility control the depth variability of acoustic turbidity which is observed with acoustic remote sensing systems. The delay relative to the atmospheric temperature cycle is caused by slow heat transfer through the water column. The atmospheric temperature cycle as ‘exiting function’ for variable gas solubility offers an opportunity for modelling and predicting the depth of the acoustic turbidity. In practice, however, small-scale variations of, e.g., salinity, or gas concentration profile in the sediment impose limits to predictions. In addition, oceanographic influences as mixing in the water column, variable water inflow, etc. are further complications that reduce the reliability of predictions.

Using heterogeneous vegetation in alpine grassland through grazing is a necessary component of deintensification of livestock systems and conservation of natural environments. However, better understanding of the dynamics of animal feeding behaviour would improve pasture and livestock grazing managements, particularly in the early part of the spring season when forage is scarce. The changes in behaviour may improve the use of poor pastures. Then, enhancing management practices may conserve pasture and improve animal productivity. Grazing behaviour over 24 In periods by yaks in different physiological states (lactating, dry and replacement heifers) was recorded in the early, dry and later, germinating period of the spring season. Under conditions of inadequate forage, the physiological state of yaks was not the primary factor affecting their grazing and ruminating behaviour. Forage and sward state affected yaks' grazing and ruminating behaviour to a greater extent. Generally, yaks had higher intake and spent more time grazing and ruminating during the later part of the spring season, following germination of forage, than during the earlier dry part of the season. However, the live weight of yaks was less during pasture germination than during the early dry part of the season because the herbage mass is low, and the yaks have to expend much energy to seek feed at this particular time. It was the objective of this study to compare the suitability of different extractants for predicting the availability of sulfur (S) in natural grassland in a sulfur response trial on three different soil types in the Inner Mongolia steppe of China. For soil analysis, seven different extractants have been employed. The inorganic SO4-S concentration was determined by ion chromatography. Additionally, in the Ca(H-2-PO4)(2) extract the total soluble S was determined employing turbidimetry. Weak salt solutions (0.15% CaCl2, Ca(H2PO4)(2), and KH2PO4) extracted similar amounts Of SO4-S. Extraction with 0.025 M KCl provided the lowest SO4-S values. Deionized water dissolved significantly more SO4-S in the control plots than most weak salt extractants. The concentration of soluble organic S decreased in the control plots after 100 days of plant growth, indicating that the organic S pool contributed significantly to the S nutrition of the forage crops. Significant relationships among the SO4-S in the soil determined in different extracts and crop yield, sulfur content in the forage, and total sulfur uptake were only found for the Ca(H2PO4)(2) extract. In general, the correlation coefficients proved to be unsatisfactory for field experimentation.

A Cu-Zn-Al methanol catalyst combined with HZSM-5 was used for dimethyl ether (DME) synthesis from a syngas containing nitrogen, which was produced by air-partial oxidation of methane (air-POM). Air-POM occurred at 850 degreesC, 0.8 MPa, CH4/air/H2O/CO2 ratio of 1/2.4/0.8/0.4 over a Ni-based catalyst modified by magnesia and lanthanum oxide with 96% CH4 conversion and constantly gave syngas with a H-2/CO ratio of 2/1 during a period of 450 h. The obtained N-2-containing syngas was used directly for DME synthesis. About 90% CO per-pass conversion, 78% DME selectivity and 70% DME yield could be achieved during 450 h stability testing under the pressure of 5.0 MPa. the temperature of 240 degreesC and the space velocity of 1000 h(-1). The exploration and development of natural gas in the north of Ordos basin have been one important part in China’s energy stratagem. Reservoir in upper Palaeozoic group is of lithological trap and its prediction is a crux in a series of works. Based on foregoing seismic reservoir prediction, seismic data are re-processed with some optical methods and pre-stack information is used in corresponding inversions. Through the application of diverse methods, a series of techniques for reservoir prediction come into being. Several results are achieved as flowing: 1. A set of log processing and interpretation methods is developed. Porosity, permeability and gas saturation models are rebuilt. 2. Based on the petro-physics analysis of reservoirs in upper Palaeozoic group, the equations about lithology, property, hydrocarbon and elastic parameters are established. 3. Forward modeling based on elastic wave theory is first applied in the study area and increases the resolution of modeling results. 4. A series of techniques such as pre-stack time migration and others are combined to improve the data quality. 5. Pre-stack seismic inversion is first employed in the north of Ordos Basin and brings the results of EI, P-impedance, S-impedance and other elastic parameters. 6. In post-stack inversion, logs indicating reservoir parameters are rebuilt and boost the resolution of lithology inversion. 7. Amplitude, coherence, frequency-discomposed amplitude, waveform and other sensitive attributes are extracted to describe sands distribution. Seismic modes standing for sands of P1x3, P1x2 are established. 8. Among 9 proposed wells, 8 wells encountered sands and became production wells. The output of DK13 amounts to 510,000 m3 per day. Keywords:the north of Ordos Basin, reservoir prediction, pre-stack inversion, post-stack inversion, seismic attributes.

Permian reservoir in Sulige area of Ordos Basin, on which this paper focused, belongs to fluvial-delta lithofacies. The majority formations in this area are complicated channel sand deposit with serious inhomogeneity which makes natural gas exploration be very tough in this area. This inhomogeneity can be found everywhere both in large horizontal area and vertical profile of inner and interbedded formations. This paper studied the inhomogeneity characteristic of Permian formation in sulige area of Ordos Basin according to the logging data.Correlating with core data, a criterion to distinguish different type of reservoirs by using logging data is determined after the study of logging response is done considering the diverse conditions of deposit environments, lithology and reservoir space. The characteristic relationships between the various type formations and logging responses fully and systemically are established. It investigated reservoir parameter calculation methods amply. Combining the conventional and special logging data, basing on the feature of low porosity -permeability formation of sulige area, a set of methods to calculate reservoir parameters was formed including primary porosity, secondary porosity, fracture porosity, permeability and water saturation under the conditions of both low porosity-permeability and inhomogenous reservoirs. One thing should be pay close attention is the parameter M for calculating saturation. It is found that the M in low porosity -permeability formation decreases as the porosity decrease, which is opposite to the law that M increases as the porosity decrease in the formation with intermediate to high porosity and permeability. This view has innovated the traditional theory and offered theory basis for the logging interpretation of low porosity - permeability reservoir. Meanwhile it also improved the Arqi formula theoretically and enhanced the logging interpretation accuracy and rescued a number of formations which has been thought to be hopeless according to the old theory.By using advantage logging interpretation procedure, a territorial synthetic geology evaluation to the inhomogeneous reservoir was completed basing on the single well interpretation. All the reservoir evaluation parameters including sand formation thickness, primary porosity, secondary porosity were calculated and evaluated. The rules of changing and development for sand formation thickness, sand physical properties and secondary porous were found at different formations of upper part of the Member 8 of Shihezi, lower part of the Member 8 of Shihezi, the Member 1 of shanxi and the Member 2 of shanxi individually. Evaluation and Correlation of these five formations were also completed and one conclusion was arrived: upper part of the Member 8 of Shihezi formation has the best performance followed by the lower part of the Member 8 of Shihezi, the Member 1 of shanxi and the Member 2 of shanxi formation. After studied the relationship between reservoir deposition characteristic and the natural gas richness, it is regarded that reservoir inhomogeneity is the key issue of the impaction on the natural gas. Natural gas in Sulige gas field was mainly accumulated in sands of channel bar, distributary channel and debouchure bar. Especially, the quartz sand with rich of secondary porous space has obvious better physical properties than other reservoir and usually can forms the concentration of natural gas.
