The pantherine lineage of the cat family Felidae (order: Carnivora) includes five big cats of genus Panthera and a great many midsized cats known worldwide. Presumably because of their recent and rapid radiation, the evolutionary relationship among pantherines remains ambiguous. We provide an independent assessment of the evolutionary history of pantherine lineage using two complete mitochondrial (mt) genes (ND2 and ND4) and the nuclear beta-fibrmogen intron 7 gene, whose utility in carnivoran phylogeny was first explored. The available four mt (ND5, cytb, 12S, and 16SrRNA) and two nuclear (IRBP and TTR) sequence loci were also combined to reconstruct phylogeny of 14 closely related cat species. Our analyses of combined mt data (six genes; approximate to 3750 bp) and combined mt and nuclear data (nine genes; approximate to 6500 bp) obtained identical tree topologies, which were well-resolved and strongly supported for almost all nodes. Monophyly of Panthera genus in pantherine lineage was confirmed and interspecific affinities within this genus revealed a novel branching pattern, with P. tigris diverging first in Panthera genus, followed by P. onca, P. leo, and last two sister species P. pardus and P. uncia. In addition, close association of Neofelis nebulosa to Panthera, the phylogenetic redefinition of Otocolobus manil within the domestic cat group, and the relatedness of Acinonyx jubatus and Puma concolor were all important findings in the resulting phylogenies. The potential utilities of nine different genes for phylogenetic resolution of closely related pantherine species were also evaluated, with special interest in that of the novel nuclear beta-fibrinogen intron 7. Numerous observations in clinical and preclinical studies indicate that the developing brain is particular sensitive to lead (Pb)'s pernicious effects. However, the effect of gestation-only Pb exposure on cognitive functions at maturation has not been studied. We investigated the potential effects of three levels of Pb exposure (low, middle, and high Pb: 0.03%, 0.09%, and 0.27% of lead acetate-containing diets) at the gestational period on the spatial memory of young adult offspring by Morris water maze spatial learning and fixed location/visible platform tasks. Our results revealed that three levels of Pb exposure significantly impaired memory retrieval in male offspring, but only female offspring at low levels of Pb exposure showed impairment of memory retrieval. These impairments were not due to the gross disturbances in motor performance and in vision because these animals performed the fixed location/visible platform task as well as controls, indicating that the specific aspects of spatial learning/memory were impaired. These results suggest that exposure to Pb during the gestational period is sufficient to cause long-term learning/memory deficits in young adult offspring. (C) 2003 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

基因转换是指同源序列之间遗传信息的非交互的传递.该现象最早是在真菌上发现的.近年来,随着研究的不断深入,发现它普遍存在于所有的生物类群中.目前有关它的分子机制已有较多研究并提出了多种分子模型,其中以DSBR模型和SDSA模型具有较强说服力被较普遍认可.本文对近些年来的这些新进展傲一综述,并对该领域的研究进行了分析和展望.

目前国际上的着丝粒蛋白研究工作几乎全是以酵母和高等生物为材料进行的. 为了从起源与进化的角度考察着丝粒蛋白, 作者以人喉癌培养细胞 Hep Ⅱ作为对照材料, 以两种 ACA 血清和 CENP-B 单抗、多抗以及 CHO 动粒蛋白单抗为探针, 用间接免疫荧光和免疫印迹技术对嗜热四膜虫(Tetrahymena thermophila)作检查. 免疫荧光结果表明, Hep Ⅱ细胞的着丝粒抗原在间期核中呈点状分布: 与 HepⅡ 细胞的不同, 嗜热四膜虫的着丝粒抗原在问期核中的分布呈不规则的斑块状。

利用复合垂直流构建湿地系统去除邻苯二甲酸二丁酯 (DBP) ,在处理DBP浓度为 9 84mg·l- 1的进水实验中 ,显示了良好的去除效果 .复合垂直流构建湿地系统独特的结构和水流方式 ,为湿地微生物活动制造了更有利的生境 .系统基质对DBP具有很强的吸附作用 ,以DBP为碳源的细菌和真菌对DBP的降解起了主要作用 ;处理系统下行流池具有较高的微生物丰度 ,是DBP降解的主要场所 .植物在构建湿地系统去除DBP的过程中起到了不可忽视的作用 .总之 ,复合垂直流构建湿地中基质、微生物和植物协同作用有利于D

应用RT-PCR技术检测草鱼出血病病毒。建立了一种快速、简易而可靠的dsRNA模板的制备方法。应用该方法制备模板进行RT-PCR扩增,可以有效地检测出病鱼组织及病毒感染的培养细胞裂解液中的草鱼出血病病毒,且全过程只需3~4h,大大缩短了检测时间

本文报道1980年6月采自江苏省吴江县的鲤科鱼类一新种,小口小鳔Micrco-physogobiomicrostomussp.nov.新种的口唇和鳔囊结构等性状与凌河小鳔M.linghensisXie相近似,而又以其口唇的发达程度、胸腹部裸露区的大小和位置、尾柄长与高之比以及体色斑纹的差异等与后者相区别。

ZnO thin films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) on glass substrates with growth temperature from room temperature (RT) to 500 degrees C. The effects of substrate temperature on the structural and optical properties of ZnO films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission spectra, and RT photoluminescence (PL) measurements. The results showed that crystalline and (0 0 2)-oriented ZnO films were obtained at all substrate temperatures. As the substrate temperature increased from RT to 500 degrees C, the ratio of grain size in height direction to that in the lateral direction gradually decreased. The same grain size in two directions was obtained at 200 degrees C, and the size was smallest in all samples, which may result in maximum E, and E-0 of the films. UV emission was observed only in the films grown at 200 degrees C, which is probably because the stoichiometry of ZnO films was improved at a suitable substrate temperature. It was suggested that the UV emission might be related to the stoichiometry in the ZnO film rather than the grain size of the thin film. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Epitaxial growth of Zn-doped InGaAs on InP substrates has been carried out at 550degreesC by LP-MOCVD. Hole concentration as high as 6 x 10(19)cm(-3) has been achieved at the H-2 flow rate of 20 sccm through DEZn bubbler. The lattice constant of Zn-doped InGaAs was found to be dependent on the flow rate of DEZn, and the tensile strain mismatch increases with increasing H-2 flow rate of DEZn. The negative lattice mismatch of heavily Zn-dopped InGaAs may be due to, the small covalent bonding radius of zinc and the combination of butane from ethyl of DEZn,and TEGa. And the latter accelerates the pyrolysis of TEGa, which is the dominant mechanism in determining the negative mismatch of Zn-doped InGaAs. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

This work investigated analytically the band structure of photonic crystals (PCs) with alternate layers of left and right-handed materials in one-dimension. It was found that, under certain conditions, new peculiar band structures not seen in all right-handed material PCs appeared. We transformed the analytic dispersion relation into two cosine terms, and obtained an interesting band structure using the new form of dispersion equation.
