Er^(3+)-doped Na2O-WO3-TeO2 glass consistent with standard ion-exchange technology has been fabricated and characterized. The measured absorption and emission spectra of the glass were analyzed by the Judd-Ofelt and McCumber theories. The intensity parameters are Ω2 = 7.01

We report spectral properties and thermal stability of Nd3+-doped InF3-based heavy-metal fluoride glasses. Fluoroindate glasses in the chemical compositions (in mol%) of (38-x)InF3-16BaF(2)-20ZnF(2)-20SrF(2)-3GdF(3)-1GaF(3-)2NaF-xNdF(3) (x = 0.1, 0.5, 1, 2, 3) have been prepared under a controlled atmosphere in a dry box. Strong UVblue upconversion emission from a green excitation wavelength has been observed and the involved mechanisms have been explained. Near-infrared emission occurs simultaneously upon excitation of the UV-blue upconversion emissions with a cw Ar(+)laser. The upconversion spectra have revealed four dominant emissions at 354, 380, 412 and 449 nm, which belong to the transitions of D-4(3/2) -> I-4(9/2), D-4(3/2) -> I-4(11/2) and P-2(3/2) -> I-4(9/2), D-4(3/2) -> I-4(13/2) and P-2(3/2) -> I-4(11/2), D-4(3/2) -> I-4(15/2) and P-2(3/2) -> I-4(13/2), respectively.

This paper reports on the optical spectroscopic properties and thermal stability of Er3+-doped TeO2-BaO (Li2O,NaO)-La2O3 glasses for developing 1.5-mu m fiber amplifiers. Upon excitation at 977 nm laser diode, an intense 1.53-mu m infrared fluorescence has been observed with a broad full width at half maximum (FWHM) of about 60 nm for the Er3+-doped TeO2-BaO (Li2O, Na2O)-La2O3 glass with 10 mol% of BaO. The calculated fluorescence lifetime and the emission cross-sections of the 1.53-mu m transition are 2.91 ms and similar to 9.97 x 10(-21) cm(2), respectively. It is noted that the gain bandwidth, a, x FWHM, of the TeO2-BaO-La2O3Er2O3 glass is about 600, which is significantly higher than that in silicate and phosphate glasses. Meanwhile, it is interesting to note that the TeO2-BaO-La2O3-Er2O3 glass has shown a high glass thermal stability and good infrared transmittance. As a result, TeO2-BaO (Li2O, Na2O)-La2O3 glass with 10 mol% of BaO has been considered to be more useful as a host for broadband optical fiber amplifier. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Porous glass with high-SiO2 content was impregnated with Nd ions, and subsequently sintered at 1100 degrees C into a compact non-porous glass in air or reducing atmosphere. Sintering in a reducing atmosphere produced an intense violet-blue fluorescence at 394 nm. However, the sintering atmospheres almost did not affect the fluorescence properties in the infrared range. A good performance Nd3+-doped silica microchip laser operating at 1064 nm was demonstrated. The Nd-doped sintering glasses with high-SiO2 content are potential host materials for high power solid-state lasers and new transparent fluorescence materials. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. In this paper, we present results on upconversion luminescence performed on Yb3+-doped yttrium aluminum garnets under 940 nm excitation. The upconversion luminescence was ascribed to Yb3+ cooperative luminescence and the presence of rare earth impurity ions. The cooperative luminescence spectra as a function of Yb concentration were measured and the emission intensity variation with Yb concentration was discussed. Yb3+ energy migration quenched the cooperative luminescence of Yb:YAG crystals with doping level over 15 at%. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

总结了飞秒激光与晶体和玻璃相互作用产生的新现象,如光致折射率改变、光致晶体相变、光还原稀土离子及光致发光等。并分析了它们可能的应用。同时简要的介绍了各种现象产生的机理,展望了飞秒激光与其它物质相互作用可能的研究方向及可能出现的新现象。指出了进行这些研究时可能采用的新方法。

Absorption and emission spectral properties of GdVO4 single crystal doped with Ho3+ ions were investigated at room temperature. Polarized absorption cross section is calculated in the range of 400-2200nm. Results were analyzed and parameters were calculated based on Judd-Ofelt theory, the emission spectrum shows that the emission intensity around the wavelength of 546 nm associated with transition S-5(2) -> I-5(8) is much stronger than other bands in the observed range and potentially enable the green light output around this emission band in this crystal. In this paper, some results on visible luminescence performed on Yb3+-doped gadolinium gallium garnets under 165 and 940 nm excitation were presented. The upconversion luminescence was ascribed to Yb3+ cooperative luminescence and the presence of rare earth impurity ions. The gain cross-sections of Yb:GGG crystal as a function of excited-state population fraction P were studied. Emission spectra under 165 nm at 20 K showed there was no charge transfer luminescence in Yb:GGG. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

An Ho3+-doped YAlO3 (Ho : YAP) single crystal has been grown by the Czochralski technique. The polarized absorption spectra, polarized fluorescence spectra and fluorescence decay curve of the crystal are measured at room temperature. The spectroscopic parameters are calculated based on Judd-Ofelt theory, and the effective phenomenological intensity parameters Omega(2,eff), Omega(4,eff) and Omega(6,eff) are obtained to be 2.89 x 10(-20), 2.92 x 10(-20) and 1.32 x 10(-20) cm(2), respectively. The room-temperature fluorescence lifetime of the Ho3+ 5I(7) -> I-5(8) transition is measured to be 8.1 ms. Values of the absorption and emission cross-sections with different polarizations are presented for the I-5(7) manifold, and the polarized gain cross-section curves are also provided and discussed.

蛋白质组学是研究细胞内全部蛋白的动态表达及其相互关系的新兴学科,是功能基因组学研究的重要组成部分和战略制高点,广泛应用于生命科学的各个领域,研究对象涵盖微生物、动物和植物等。   稀土元素(rare earth elements),亦称镧系元素(lanthanides),是性质相似的15种金属元素。随着稀土元素在工业、农牧业和医疗等领域的应用日益深入,它们对生物体的作用机制亟待研究。生物固氮作用为生命世界提供75%的绿色氮源,根瘤菌是重要的固氮微生物,具有基因组结构简单、培养周期短等特点。酿酒酵母是与人类关系最密切的一种酵母,不仅因为传统上其用于制作食品及酿酒,而且是现代分子生物学和细胞生物学中的真核模式生物。为了全面地了解稀土元素对细胞的作用,我们运用高分辨率的蛋白质双向电泳分离技术和高通量的蛋白质质谱分析手段以及生物信息学等方法,分析了稀土元素钆(Gadolinium,Gd)在原核生物费氏中华根瘤菌(Sinorhizobium fredii)USDA205和真核生物酿酒酵母(Saccharomyces cerevisiae)YM4271的生物效应。   结果表明,经1mM Gd(NO3)3处理12小时后,费氏中华根瘤菌USDA205中 22个蛋白质表达有差异。这些蛋白质可根据功能分为8类,包括转运蛋白、胁迫相关蛋白、代谢相关蛋白等。其中13个蛋白质表达量增加,9个蛋白质表达量下降。膜蛋白在差异蛋白中占有很大比重。另外,我们分析了不同浓度的钆处理后蛋白质表达的变化情况,发现蛋白质组的变化是与处理浓度密切相关的。研究中还发现同种浓度的钆与另一种稀土元素铒(Erbium,Er)相比,离子半径较小的铒离子对根瘤菌的抑制作用更加明显。   比较不同浓度的钆对酿酒酵母YM4271的影响,发现酵母对稀土元素的反应不及根瘤菌敏感,对数生长初期的酵母经钆处理12小时或24小时后均无显著变化。   本研究首次用蛋白质组学的方法研究稀土元素对微生物的作用,鉴定了一些有价值的蛋白质,并得到了它们的表达特点和相关数据,为更好地理解稀土元素的生物效应提供了有力的分子生物学证据。

为了阐明蕨类植物铁芒萁(Dicranopteris dichotoma Bernh.)体内稀土元素的分布及其光合特性,采用电感耦合等离子质谱分析了中国江西省龙南县轻、重稀土矿区和非矿区铁芒萁植物体内的稀土元素含量,并采用透射电子显微镜对其叶片细胞内的稀土元素进行精确定位。还比较系统的研究了自然条件下的铁芒萁与高浓度稀土元素处理条件下的非稀土元素富集植物黄瓜(Cucumis sativus Linn)的光合特性。结果表明: 1、0.5 mmol•L-1 LaCl3处理黄瓜后,可以诱导激发能向PS II分配。1和2 mmol•L-1 LaCl3处理黄瓜后,对黄瓜幼苗抑制作用表现在对其生长率,光合放氧活性和叶绿体完整率的抑制。这是由于LaCl3对黄瓜细胞结构和叶绿体膜结构的破坏所致。其表现为对类囊体膜结构的破坏,而导致PS II光合活性下降,并最终抑制黄瓜生长。 2、铁芒萁可以富集稀土元素,轻、重稀土矿区铁芒萁植物稀土元素的分布规律为叶片>根>土壤>茎>叶柄,非矿区铁芒萁植物稀土元素的分布规律为叶片>根>茎>叶柄。稀土元素在铁芒萁体内的运输和迁移过程中,发生了明显的分异作用,茎、叶柄、叶片中的重稀土相对贫乏,叶片中可以富集高浓度的轻稀土元素。 3、稀土元素可以进入完整的铁芒萁表皮细胞和叶肉细胞中,但多以沉淀的形式聚集在一起。非矿区铁芒萁叶绿体中的稀土元素含量约占其叶片中含量的5%。轻稀土矿区铁芒萁叶绿体中的稀土元素含量约占其叶片中含量的10%。部分稀土元素定位于富含PS II的基粒片层上。 4、铁芒萁富集稀土元素受环境和遗传特性的双重影响,但主要由其自身的生理、生化特性决定。其富集稀土元素的机制是隔离稀土元素在细胞壁、液泡中和分泌结合物质使稀土元素成为沉淀沉积下来,从而避免对光合活性的破坏。 5、与非矿区铁芒萁相比,轻稀土矿区植物叶绿体膜的全链电子传递速率增加了34.9%,PS II的电子传递活性增高了252.9%,PS I的电子传递活性增加了16.8%。轻稀土矿区铁芒萁全链电子传递活性的增加主要来自PS II电子传递活性的大幅提高,这可能与其调节激发能更多向PS II分配,提高PS II反应中心色素蛋白复合体(67.0%)和捕光色素蛋白复合体的含量相关。 6、与非矿区铁芒萁相比,重稀土矿区植物叶绿体膜的全链电子传递速率增加了46.3%,PS II的电子传递活性增高了23.8%,PS I的电子传递活性增加了60.4%。重稀土矿区铁芒萁电子传递活性的提高主要来自PS I电子传递活性的大量增加,这可能与其PS I反应中心蛋白复合体含量的提高(60.0%)有关。 铁芒萁富集并吸收稀土元素主要是由自身的理化特性决定的。它能够将稀土元素以沉淀的形式固定在细胞内部,并通过改变生理代谢来避免高浓度稀土元素对其光合作用的影响。可以在治理稀土元素污染的环保工程中用作植物修复材料。

 为了寻找治疗艾滋病的新药,研究了8 种稀土金属(镧、铒、镝、钆、镨、镱、钐、钕) 配合物和铂 配合物的抗HIV 活性。我们以C8166 细胞系为指示细胞,测定样品对HIV - 1IIIB诱导的细胞合胞体形成 的抑制作用,并以MTT方法测定它们对细胞存活率的影响,以研究稀土和铂配合物对细胞的毒性。根 据公式,计算出其CC50和EC50值,并进一步计算出其TI 值。结果表明,镧配合物、钐配合物和铂配合物 的EC50值分别为0. 006μg/ ml 、74. 28μg/ ml 和21. 54μg/ ml ,它们的治疗指数分别为63、21 和45 ,具有一定的 抗HIV - 1 活性。其它的配合物具有很低或者不具有抗HIV - 1 活性。

The toxic effects of La3+ on Tetrahymena thermophila have been studied by microcalorimetry at 28 degrees C. The metabolic rate constant (r) and peak time were linked to the concentration of La3+. The changes of metabolic rate constant indicated that low-concentration La3+ (0-75 mg/L) had no significant effects on the metabolism of Tetrahymena cells but high-concentration La3+ (100-175 mg/L) could inhibit their metabolism. From the results obtained by cell counting and fluorescence depolarization measurements, the inhibition of metabolism resulted from the decrease in cell number and the reduction in cell membrane fluidity. According to the results, it is clear that the metabolic mechanism of Tetrahymena cells has been changed with the addition of high-concentration La3+. In addition, microcalorimetry of Tetrahymena could be a sensible, easy-to-use, and convenient method for monitoring the potential effects of rare earth elements on cells and the freshwater ecosystem.

The objectives of the study were to investigate the effect of a feeding stimulant on feeding adaptation of gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio Bloch) fed diets with replacement of fish meal by meat and bone meal (MBM), and whether or not the juvenile gibel carp could adapt to higher MBM level in the diet. Juvenile and adult gibel carp were tested. Two and one replacement levels were used for juvenile and adult fish respectively. Each group of diets was set as two types with or without a unique rare earth oxide: Y2O3, Yb2O3, La2O3, Sm2O3, Nd2O3 or Gd2O3 (only the first four rare earth oxides were used in adult diets) for four adaptation periods of 3, 7, 14 and 28 days respectively. After mixing, an equal mixture of all six diets for juvenile or four diets for adult was offered in excess for 2 days. During the last 2 days of each experiment, no feed was offered and faeces from each tank were collected. Feeding preference was expressed as relative feed intake of each diet, which was estimated based on the relative concentration of each marker in the faeces. Given some adaptation period, such as 3-28 days, the effects of MBM and squid extract inclusion on the preference to each diet were reduced. After 28 days adaptation, the preferences between groups were not significantly different.
