The structure and optical properties of In(Ga)As with the introduction of InGaAlAs or InAlAs seed dot layers are investigated. The area density and size homogeneity of the upper InGaAs dots are efficiently improved by the introduction of a buried layer of high-density dots. Our explanation for the realization of high density and size homogeneity dots is presented. When the GaAs spacer layer is too thin to cover the seed dots, the upper dots exhibit some optical properties like those of a quantum well. By analyzing the growth dynamics, we refer to this kind of dot as an empty-core dot. (C) 2003 American Institute of Physics.

When the GaAs spacer layer is too thin to cover the seed dots, the upper dots exhibit the characterization of a quantum well. A Function Definition Language (FDL) is presented. Though designed for describing specifications, FDL is also a general-purpose functional programming language. It uses context-free language as data type, supports pattern matching definition of functions, offers several function definition forms, and is executable. It is shown that FDL has strong expressiveness, is easy to use and describes algorithms concisely and naturally. An interpreter of FDL is introduced. Experiments and discussion are included.

The formal specification language LFC was designed to support formal specification acquisition. However, it is yet suited to be used as a meta-language for specifying programming language processing. This paper introduces LFC as a meta-language, and compares it with ASF+SDF, an algebraic specification formalism that can also be used to programming languages.

We propose a new functional programming language(FPL) which differs in some aspects from most well known FPLs[l].We descrihc the prohlmm domain, the language, explain why we need it.

Here we reported the fatty-acids and their δ 13C values in seep carbonates collected from Green Canyon lease block 185 (GC 185; Sample GC-F) at upper continental slope (water depth: ∼540 m), and Alaminos Canyon lease block 645 (GC 645; Sample AC-E) at lower continental slope (water depth: ∼2200 m) of the Gulf of Mexico. More than thirty kinds of fatty acids were detected in both samples. These fatty acids are maximized at C16. There is a clear even-over-odd carbon number predominance in carbon number range. The fatty acids are mainly composed of n-fatty acids, iso-/anteiso-fatty acids and terminally branched odd-numbered fatty acids (iso/anteiso). The low δ 13C values (−39.99‰ to.32.36‰) of n-C12:0, n-C13:0, i-C14:0and n-C14:0 suggest that they may relate to the chemosynthetic communities at seep sites. The unsaturated fatty acids n-C18:2 and C18:1Δ9 have the same δ 13C values, they may originate from theBeggiatoa/Thioploca. Unlike other fatty acids, the terminally branched fatty acids (iso/anteiso) show lowerδ 13C values (as low as −63.95‰) suggesting a possible relationship to sulfate reducing bacteria, which is common during anaerobic oxidation of methane at seep sites.
