Hydrate equilibrium data of the CH4 + tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) + water have been measured by using the isothermal pressure search method for four components of TBAB aqueous solutions. The three-phase equilibrium lines obtained in the present study are shifted to the low-temperature or high-pressure side from that of the stoichiometric TBAB solution. Moreover, methane uptake into semi-clathrates is confirmed by a shift in the clathrate regions when methane is present. The experiments are carried out in the pressure range of (0.5 to 11) MPa and in the temperature range of (281.15 to 295.15) K.

The structural evolution of the ordered N-N' dibutyl-substituted quinacridone (QA4C) multilayers (3 MLs) has been monitored in situ and in real time at various substrate temperatures using low energy electron diffraction (LEED) during organic molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Experimental results of LEED patterns clearly reveal that the structure of the multilayer strongly depends on the substrate temperature. Multilayer growth can be achieved at the substrate temperatures below 300 K, while at the higher temperatures we can only get one ordered monolayer of QA4C. Two kinds of structures, the commensurate and incommensurate one, often coexist in the QA4C multilayer. With a method of the two-step substrate temperatures, the incommensurate one can be suppressed, and the commensurate, on the other hand, more similar to the (001) plane of the QA4C bulk crystal, prevails with the layer of QA4C increasing to 3 MLs. The two structures in the multilayers are compressed slightly in comparison to the original ones in the first monolayer.

In order to study the extraction pattern of protactinium in different types of extracting agents and compare the similarity of patterns of extraction with dubnium and thereby unraveling its chemistry, solvent extraction of protactinium(V) with methyl-iso-butyl carbinol (MIBC) and methyl-iso-butyl ketone (MIBK) was studied using Pa-233 as a radiotracer. The extraction efficiencies of Pa were determined as a function of shaking time, concentrations of mineral acids, and extractant concentrations using the two extractants. The results show that MIBK is more suitable for the extraction of protactinium than MIBC in benzene. Furthermore, the effect of the F anion is also discussed.

A one-dimensional isothermal pseudo-homogeneous parallel flow model was developed for the methanol synthesis from CO2 in a silicone rubber/ceramic composite membrane reactor. The fourth-order Runge-Kutta method was adopted to simulate the process behaviors in the membrane reactor. How those parameters affect the reaction behaviors in the membrane reactor, such as Damkohler number Da, pressure ratio p(r), reaction temperature T, membrane separation factor alpha, membrane permeation parameter phi , as well as the non-uniform parameter of membrane permeation L-1, were discussed in detail. Parts of the theoretical results were tested and verified; the experimental results showed that the conversion of the main reaction in the membrane reactor increased by 22% against traditional fixed bed reactor, and the optimal non-uniform parameter of membrane permeation rate, L-1.opt ,does exist. Thermal properties and crystallization-behavior of ultrafine fully-vulcanized powdered rubber (UFPR) toughened poly propylene (PP) were studied by Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) measurements. It was found that the fraction of beta-form in the PP crystal increased at first, then sharply deceased up to zero with increasing UFPR content

The deformation mechanism of a styrene/n-butyl acrylate copolymer latex film subjected to uniaxial tensile stress was studied by small-angle X-ray scattering. The influence of annealing at 23, 60, 80, and 100 degrees C for 4 h on microscopic deformation processes was elucidated. It was demonstrated that the microscopic deformation mechanism of the latex films transformed gradually from nonaffine deformation behavior to affine deformation behavior with increasing annealing temperature.

Random multimode lasers are achieved in 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-tert-butyl-6(1,1,7,7-tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTB) doped polystyrene thin films by introducing silicon dioxide (SiO2) nanoparticles as scatterers. The devices emit a resonance multimode peak at a center wavelength of 640 nm with a mode linewidth less than 0.87 nm. The threshold excitation intensity is as low as 0.25 mJ pulse(-1) cm(-2). It can be seen that the microscopic random resonance cavities can be formed by multiple scattering of SiO2 nanoparticles.

Ultrafine full-vulcanized polybutadiene rubber (UFBR) in particle sizes of ca. 50-100 nm has been used for modifying mechanical and processing performances of polypropylene (PP), and PP-g-maleic anhydride (PP-MA) has been used as a compatibilizer for enhancing the interfacial adhesion between the two components. The results show that PP/UFBR possesses rheological behaviors such as highly branched PP when UFBR content in blends reaches 10 wt%, while in contrast, the much low content of UFBR combining small amount of PP-MA endows the material with rheological characteristics of high melt strength materials like highly branched PP.
