Coarse Particle sedimentation is studied by using an algorithm with no adjustable parameters based on stokesian dynamics. Only inter-particle interactions of hydrodynamic force and gravity are considered. The sedimentation of a simple cubic array of spheres is used to verify the computational results. The scaling and parallelism with OpenMP of the method are presented. Random suspension sedimentation is investigated with Mont Carlo simulation. The computational results are shown in good agreement with experimental fitting at the lower computational cost of O(N In N).

Adiabatic shear localization is a mode of failure that occurs in dynamic loading. It is characterized by thermal softening occurring over a very narrow region of a material and is usually a precursor to ductile fracture and catastrophic failure. This reference source is the first detailed study of the mechanics and modes of adiabatic shear localization in solids, and provides a systematic description of a number of aspects of adiabatic shear banding. The inclusion of the appendices which provide a quick reference section and a comprehensive collection of thermomechanical data allows rapid access and understanding of the subject and its phenomena. The concepts and techniques described in this work can usefully be applied to solve a multitude of problems encountered by those investigating fracture and damage in materials, impact dynamics, metal working and other areas. This reference book has come about in response to the pressing demand of mechanical and metallurgical engineers for a high quality summary of the knowledge gained over the last twenty years. 采用Mach-Zehnder干涉测量系统与图象处理系统相结合实时观测溶菌酶蛋白质晶体生长过程中的流体动力学现象,对汽相扩散法溶菌酶蛋白质晶体生长过程进行了研究,观测到溶菌酶晶体生长时晶体周围存在的干涉条纹.分析了晶体生长时的重力沉降效应和溶质扩散过程.实验结果表明,该生长过程中的流体物理特征直接影响了生长晶体的晶面.根据实验结果,给出对蛋白质晶体生长过程流体物理现象的讨论。

Nanoripples with periods of 150 and 80 nm are formed on the surface of 6H-SiC crystals irradiated by the p-polarized 800 nm and the s-polarized 400 nm femtosecond lasers, respectively. When both of the two collinear laser beams focus simultaneously on the sample surface, nanoparticles are formed on the whole ablation area, and they array in parallel lines. We propose and confirm that the second harmonics in the sample surface excited by the incident lasers plays an important role in the formation of nanostructures.

通过脉宽为周期量级的超快强场激光脉冲与惰性气体原子的极端非线性相互作用,能够产生单个的阿秒量级的极端远紫外光脉冲。然而,现有的周期量级的激光脉冲的最短脉宽仍在两个光周期左右,尚不足以支持产生脉宽短于100as的单个极端远紫外脉冲。文章作者首次提出通过在一个周期量级(如6fs)激光脉冲上再叠加一个强度较弱但相对位相精确控制的二倍频激光,能够直接实现单个的65as光脉冲。如进一步经过位相补偿,将有望产生一个脉宽仅为23as的单脉冲,从而将阿秒光脉冲的时间宽度推进到短于一个原子时间单位。

A pseudo-spin model is intended to describe the physical dynamics of unbound electrons in the wall of cytoskeletal microtubule (MT). Due to the inherent symmetry of the structure and the electric properties in the MT, one may treat it as a one-dimensional ferroelectric system, and describe the nonlinear dynamics of dimer electric dipoles in one protofilament of the MT by virtue of the double-well potential. Consequently, the physical problem has been mapped onto the pseudo-spin system, and the mean-field approximation has been taken to get some physical results.

报道了在铌酸锂晶体中实现紫外激光诱导畴反转的实验。在一定外加均匀电场下,铌酸锂晶体中通过波长365nm的紫外激光,由于紫外光的照射降低了矫顽电场只在通光区实现畴反转。研究表明,该方案可用于周期性极化铌酸锂的制备,并有望成为制作精细周期性畴结构的有效技术方案。

控制由机械装夹方式所引入的波前畸变以提高惯性约束聚变(ICF)输出光束的质量,是在大口径钕玻璃片主放大器结构设计中必须考虑的。提出了一种新的有限元变形结果与光学元件面形畸变之间的数据处理方式,并与传统方式进行了对比。基于新的数据处理接口,利用光机集成分析方法对大口径八边形钕玻璃片的支撑系统结构设计参数进行优化。优化的结果保证了由支撑系统引起的透过波前畸变小于十分之一波长,同时波前畸变与设计参数变动的相关性最小。

The optical properties of zirconia films doped with rhodamine 6G and oxazine 725 by the sol-gel process were investigated using spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE). Accurate refractive index n and the extinction coefficient k were determined using a three-oscillator classical Lorentz model in the wavelength range of 300-800 nm. The derived refractive index of dye-doped films exhibited anomalous dispersion in the absorption region. Wavelength tunable output lasing action yellow and near-infrared wavelength region was achieved by DFB configuration using zirconia films doped with R6G and oxazine 725. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. Tellurite glass is proposed as a host for broadband erbium-doped fiber amplifiers because of their excellent optical and chemical properties. A single-mode Er3+-doped tellurite glass fiber with D-shape cladding was fabricated in this work. The characterization of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from this newly fabricated Er3+-doped tellurite fibers are exhibited. When pumped at 980 nm, a very broad erbium ASE nearly 150 nm around 1.53 mum is observed. The changes in ASE with regard to fiber lengths and pumping power were measured and discussed. The output of 2 mW from Er3+-doped tellurite fiber ASE source was obtained under the pump power of 660 mW. The broad 1.53 mum emission of Er3+ in tellurite glass fiber can be used as host material for potential broadband optical amplifier and tunable fiber lasers. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. 文中介绍的误差自修正方法是通过光栅位移测量系统中单片机对光栅传感器的多个零位信号进行计数,并根据测量值和系统设定值得到的误差函数自动进行误差修正。实验结果表明,该方法对光栅位移测量系统的误差既可自动进行有效的修正,又可提高系统的测量精度。

倾斜沉积技术制备的雕塑薄膜是一种新型的、具有各向异性结构的薄膜材料。根据基片旋转方式的不同,可得到螺旋状、S形状、C形状、弯曲柱状等不同结构的薄膜,并且出现了晶体中的双折射现象。雕塑薄膜可以实现各向同性薄膜无法实现的光学性质,为光学薄膜的设计与制备开辟了新的途径。本文综述了雕塑薄膜的制备方法,分析了雕塑薄膜的微结构与双折射特性,并阐述了其在光学领域内的应用潜力。

植物志的编研是植物学研究领域的基础性工作。植物志既是记载植物“身份"的"户口簿",又是记录和研究植物特征的重要"信息库"。《中国植物志》编研以大规模野外考察与标本采集为基础,以丰富的信息记载为核心,系统研究这些信息并编撰成科学志书,是一项百科全书式的系统工程。《中国植物志》历经四代植物分类学家41年(1918-1959)的准备、45年(1959-2004)的编研,由312位作者和164位绘图人员通力协作完成(其中科学院院士10位),并于2004年全部出版(中文名和拉丁学名的索引于2006年出版)。在编研过程中,采集和查阅植物标本1700余万份,发表新属及新属名称243个,发表新种及新种名称14312个,提出了新的裸子植物和被子植物分类系统,对属、种划分和系统排列进行了深入研究。《中国植物志》是世界上已出版的规模最大和内容最丰富的植物志书,全书5000多万字,总计80卷126册,记载中国维管束植物301科、3408属、31142种,包括9080幅图版,详细总结、记录、澄清了中国所有已知植物的科学名称、研究历史、形态特征、地理分布、系统位置、物种生境、物候期和经济用途等。《中国植物志》是中国半个世纪以来植物学研究的标志性成果。它查明了中国植物资源的基本状况,对科学家深入认识植物世界具有重要学术价值,对陆地生态系统研究将起到重要促进作用,为合理开发利用植物资源提供了重要的科学依据,中国植物学科研和教学队伍也因此得到了壮大,出现了一批享誉国际的优秀植物分类学家。《中国植物志》是植物学研究领域一项开拓性、创新性、系统性、基础性工程,它的完成促进了中国植物学的健康发展,也带动了生物学相关学科的进步,必将对中国和全球生物多样性的可持续发展做出重大贡献并产生深远影响。
