A series of (AO) (ABO(3))(n)(A = La, B = Ni, n = 1 similar to 4) type mixed oxides were synthesized and characterized by means of XRD, XPS, IR, TPD, TPR. Their structure characteristics and redox properties were studied. The nonstoichiometry (lambda) of oxygen and the valence of transition metal Ni were determined by using chemical analysis method. The catalytic activities of this series of mixed oxides for complete oxidation of CO and CH4 were examined and the relationships among activity, composition and structure were discussed.

A series of mixed oxides La2-xSrxCoO4+/-lambda (x=0-2) with varying x values was synthesized. The crystal structure of this series of mixed oxides was studied by using XRD. The result showed that when x=0.25-1.5 the mixed oxides possessing K2NiF4 structure are formed. The valences of the transition metal Co and the relation between +/-lambda content and x value by using chemical analysis method have been measured, too. The redox property of this series of mixed oxides and different kinds of oxygen species were studied by IR, TPD, TPR, XPS and SEM methods. The catalytic activity in the complete oxidation of CO and CH4 was investigated and the relationships between the activity, composition and structure of the mixed oxides have been elucidated.

Two series of La1-xSrxNiO3-lambda and La1-1.333xThxNiO3-lambda catalysts have been prepared, and the relationships between the solid defect structure and catalytic activity for NH3 oxidation were measured. The results showed that in the range of x < 0.3, the samples possessed single perovskite-type structure, and as the content of Sr2+ decreased and that of Th4+ increased the catalytic activity increased which was paralleled with the Ni3+ concentration within the catalysts. The active oxygen species (O- or O2(2-)) were present not only on the surface but also in the bulk of the samples. The synergistic effect of transition metal ions with higher oxidation states and randomly distributed oxygen vacancies was the key factor determining catalytic activity of perovskite-type oxides. A redox mechanism for NH3 oxidation over ABO3 is proposed.

[Zn(C12H8N2)2(H2O)2]SO4.6H2O, M(r) = 665.98, triclinic, P1BAR, a = 10.070 (4), b = 12.280 (3), c = 13.358 (2) angstrom, alpha = 109.12 (2), beta = 92.58 (2), gamma = 110.85 (2)-degrees, V = 1433.9 (7) angstrom 3, Z = 2, D(x) = 1.54 g cm-3, lambda(Mo K-alpha) = 0.71069 angstrom, mu = 10.1 cm-1, F(000) = 692, T = 293 K, R = 0.044 for 3985 observed reflections. The Zn atom is coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands and two water molecules. The intermolecular ring-stacking interactions between the phen ligands occur in two forms: infinite chains and discrete dimers. Hydrogen bonds further stabilize the structure.

The preparation and the behaviour of a Prussian Blue (PB) film on a platinum microdisk electrode has been described. Electrocatalytic oxidation of ascorbic acid has occurred at the PB film modified microelectrode. This shows a typical example of a modified microelectrode in electrocatalysis following our previous theoretical studies (J. Electroanal. Chem., 309 (1991) 103) and the related catalytic reaction rate constant was determined.

Acetonitrile is a weakly donating ligand. The cationic compounds of CH_3CN-coordinated transition metal are versatile homogeneous catalysts for the polymerization and isomerization of olefins and cycloolefins. The cationic compound of lanthanide[Eu(CH_3·CN)_3(BF_4)_3]_n was prepared from the oxidation of Eu with NOBF_4 in CH_3CN by Thomas in 1986. It was found that [Eu(CH_3CN)_3(BF_4)_3]_n can catalyze the polymerization of styrene cyclohexadiene and other olefins. However, there is no information about...

The concentrations of five major and 28 trace elements in 35 marine algae collected along the coast of China were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis. The concentrations of halogens, rare earth elements and many transition metal elements in marine algae are remarkably higher than those in terrestrial plants. The concentration factors for 31 elements in all collected algae were calculated, those for tri- and tetra-valent elements were higher than those of the mono- and di-valent elements in marine algae. The biogeochemical characteristics of inorganic elements in marine algae were investigated. In addition, the seasonal variation of inorganic elements in Sargassum kjellmanianum was also studied. To evaluate the interactions between the atoms of An, Ag and Cu and clean Si(111) surface, two types of silicon clusters Si4H7 and Si16H20 together with their metal complexes were studied by using hybrid (U)B3LYP density functional theory method. Optimized geometries and energies on different adsorption sites indicate that: (1) the binding energies at different adsorption sites are large (ranging from similar to 1.2 to 2.6 eV depend on the metal atoms and adsorption sites), suggesting a strong interaction between metal atom and silicon surface; (2) the most favorable adsorption site is the on top (T) site. Mulliken population analysis indicated that in the system of on top (T) site, a covalent bond is formed between metal atom and dangling bond of surface Si atom. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. The polymer-supported bimetallic catalyst PVP-PdCl2-MnCl2 (PVP=poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)) exhibits high activity and selectivity for the oxidative carbonylation of amines with carbon monoxide and oxygen to carbamate esters under atmospheric pressure in the presence of a base (NaOAc). This catalyst is prepared by the addition of MnCl2 to the alcoholic solution of PVP-PdCl2 in situ. A remarkable bimetallic synergic effect and the role of PVP in PVP-PdCl2-MXn (MXn=the second transition metal component such as NiCl2, CoCl2, MnCl2 and FeCl3) gives rise to an obvious increase in the conversion and selectivity for the reaction. Among the second metal components tested, Mn-Pd exerts the strongest synergic effect. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Framework titanium in Ti-silicalite-1 (TS-1) zeolite was selectively identified by its resonance Raman bands using ultraviolet (W) Raman spectroscopy. Raman spectra of the TS-1 and silicalite-1 zeolites were obtained and compared using continuous wave laser lines at 244, 325, and 488 nm as the excitation sources. It was only with the excitation at 244 nm that resonance enhanced Raman bands at 490, 530, and 1125 cm(-1) appeared exclusively for the TS-1 zeolite. Furthermore, these bands increased in intensity with the crystallization time of the TS-1 zeolite. The Raman bands at 490, 530, and 1125 cm(-1) are identified as the framework titanium species because they only appeared when the laser excites the charge-transfer transition of the framework titanium species in the TS-1. No resonance Raman enhancement was detected for the bands of silicalite-1 zeolite and for the band at 960 cm(-1) of TS-1 with any of the excitation sources ranging from the visible tb UV regions. This approach can be applicable for the identification of other transition metal ions substituted in the framework of a zeolite or any other molecular sieve.
