Guest host polymer thin films of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) incorporated with (4'-nitrobenzene)-3-azo-9-ethylcarbazole (NAEC) were fabricated by spin coating and then poled by the method of corona-onset poling at elevated temperature. The absorption mechanism of the polymeric film, which is very important for the optical transmission losses and directly relates to the orientation of chromophore NAEC in polymer PMMA, was investigated in detail. From the UV-visible absorption spectra for NAEC/PMMA film before and after being poled, we determined the change of absorption coefficient kappa with the wavelength and approximately calculated the maximum absorption A(parallel tomax) as 3.46 for incident light propagating parallel through the film, i.e. the ordinary polarized light, which cannot be directly measured in the spectro photometer. Novel guest nonlinear optical (NLO) chromophore molecules (4-nitrobenzene)-3-azo-9-ethylcarbazole (NAEC) were doped in poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) host with a concentration of approximately 15% by weight. For a useful macroscopic electro-optic (EO) effect, these NLO molecules NAEC were arranged in a noncentrosymmetric structure in the host polymer by corona-onset poling at elevated temperature (COPET). For applying NAEC-PMMA polymer in optical devices such as EO switch, its optical properties have been investigated. The UV/Visible absorption spectra for the unpoled and poled polymer film were determined. The refractive index of the film was also determined from measurements of the coupling angles with the reflective intensity at 632.8 nm wavelength. Using the simple reflection technique, the EO coefficient 33 value was measured as 60 pm/V at 632.8 nm wavelength. The second-order nonlinear coefficient d(33) was characterized by the second-harmonic-generation (SHG) experimental setup and the calculated d(33) value reached 18.4 pm/V at 1064 nm wavelength. The relation between the second-order nonlinear coefficients d(33) and d(13) for the poled polymer film was also discussed in detail and the ratio d(33)/d(13) value was obtained as 3.3. Monomers of methacrylate with various pi -conjugated pendants were designed and prepared in our laboratory, The monomer with suitable end-group was successfully assembled with nano-scale inorganic particles to form an orderly-aligned structure that showed special optical properties, both absorption and emission band were much red-shifted compared with the monomer, A new type of organic/inorganic hybrid materials was obtained by in situ polymerization of the assembly, The hybrid materials could also show special optical properties as the assembly, This might open a new route to tune the emission color.

We have prepared the polymer thin films of a 3-(1,1-dicyanothenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole (DChTP)/poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) guest-host system by spin coating. In order to investigate their temporal and temperature stability, we have measured their dielectric relaxation spectra including the frequency dependence of the real and imaginary parts of dielectric constants. The investigated frequency ranged from 50 Hz to 10 MHz. The measured temperature range above the glass transition temperature T-g (95 degrees C) of the DCNP/PMMA system was from 95 degrees C to 1250C. By using the Adam-Gibbs model, the temperature dependence of the characteristic time tau above T-g was fitted, and the values of the characteristic times tau below T-g were estimated. The lifetimes of the polymer were evaluated by the Kohlrausch-Williams Watts (KWW) empirical decay model. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

In this work, the characteristics of the decomposition of methane hydrate Structure I (SI) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide solution is investigated using the molecular dynamics simulation. The mechanism of the transformation process from the solid hydrate to the liquid is analyzed with the effect of hydrogen peroxide (HP) solution. In addition, the effect of ethylene glycol (EG) with the same molar concentration with HP on the methane hydrate dissociation is also studied. The results illustrate that both HP and EG promote well the hydrate dissociation. The work provides the important reference value for the experimental investigation into the promotion effect of HP on the hydrate dissociation.

The dissociation of methane hydrate in the presence of ethylene glycol (11.45 mol.L-1) at 277.0 K was studied using canonical ensemble (NVT) molecular dynamics simulations. Results show that hydrate dissociation starts from the surface layer of the solid hydrate and then gradually expands to the internal layer. Thus, the solid structure gradually shrinks until it disappears. A distortion of the hydrate lattice structure occurs first and then the hydrate evolves from a fractured frame to a fractional fragment. Finally, water molecules in the hydrate construction exist in the liquid state. The inner dissociating layer is, additionally, coated by a liquid film formed from outer dissociated water molecules outside. This film inhibits the mass transfer performance of the inner molecules during the hydrate dissociation process.

A new unsymmetrical photochromic diarylethene 1a is synthesized, and the photochromic properties of it are also investigated. The compound exhibits good photochromism with UV/ visible light irradiation. Compound 1a in polymethyl methacrylate ( PMMA ) film changes color upon 313- nm light irradiation from colorless to blue, in which the absorption maximum is observed at 587 nm. Photon- mode polarization multiplexing holographic optical recording is performed successfully using this compound as a recording medium. In the diarylethene 1b/ PMMA film, polarization multiplexing hologram recording and retrieval, and a combination with the angular multiplexing scheme, are demonstrated systematically. The results indicate that recording capacity can be significantly improved with the combined method of polarization and angular multiplexing holographic recording. A novel inorganic-organic hybrid hydrophobic anti-reflection silica film used for laser crystal was obtained by sol-gel process. The film consisted of silica sols mixed with a small amount of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or polystyrene (PS). The optical transparency, hydrophobic property and surface morphology of the film were characterized by UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer; contact angle instrument and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), respectively. The results showed that the anti-reflection coating had good hydrophobility and optical transparency from 400 nm to 1200 nm. The contact angle reached to 130-140 degrees. SEM images indicated the hydrophobic films modified with PMMA or PS had compact structure compared to the pure silica sol film. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

本工作用小角激光光散射(SALS)研究了Poly (Styrene -co-acrylontrile)/Poly (methyl methacrylate)共混体系的相分离动力学。通过溶液共混得到的均相混合物淬火到较高温度的热力学不稳区,随着时间增长,体系相区及相区间及相区间的反应逐渐增大,对应SALS的V_v散射环逐渐变小,散射强度逐渐增大;在Cahn-Hilliard线性理论基础上测得体系相分离初期的增长速率及扩散系数,在相分离后期散射峰强Im和峰位qm与时间t满足幂指数关系:Im αt~θ、qm αt~(-θ)且θ ≈ 3φ;光散射积分不变量及相差显微镜观察表明在相分离后其发生了Ostwald Ripening,若减小体系PMMA分子量,相分离速率增大很快。

由极性聚合物-碱金属盐构成的聚合物固体电解质(SPE)是一类很有前途的离子导电材料。但此类SPE,比通常非水介质电解质溶液约低3个数量级,故极需发展电导率更高的新型SPE材料。目前,由极性(或交联)聚合物、碱金属盐和高介电常数溶剂三组份构成的新一代SPE正在崛起,其室温电导率的达10~(-3)S·cm~(-1)。本工作以甲基丙烯酸多缩乙二醇二酯为大分子单体,研究了三组份凝胶电解质的制备、各组分的变化和温度等对膜强度和电导率的影响;并研究了该凝胶体系中离子传导机理。

The objectives were to investigate the effect of cryoprotectants on the hatching rate of red seabream embryos. Heart-beat embryos were immersed in: five permeable cryoprotectants, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), glycerol (Gly), methanol (MeOH), 1,2-propylene glycol (PG), and ethylene glycol (EG). in concentrations of 5-30% for 10, 30, or 60 min; and two non-permeable cryoprotectants: polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), and sucrose (in concentrations of 5-20% for 10 or 30 min). The embryos were then washed and incubated in filtered seawater until hatching occurred. The hatching rate of the embryos treated with permeable cryoprotectants decreased (P < 0.05) with increased concentration and duration of exposure. In addition, PG was the least toxic permeable cryoprotectant, followed by DMSO and EG, whereas Gly and MeOH were the most toxic. At a concentration of 15% and 30 min exposure, the hatching rate of the embryos immersed in PG was 93.3 +/- 7.0% (mean +/- S.D.), however. in DMSO. EG, Gly. and MeOH, it was 82.7 +/- 10.4, 22.0 +/- 5.7, 0.0 +/- 0.0, and 0.0 +/- 0.0%, respectively. Hatching rate of embryos treated with PVP decreased (P < 0.05) with the increase of concentration and exposure time, whereas for embryos treated with sucrose, there was no significant decrease in comparison with the control at the concentrations used. 胚胎干细胞(embryonic stem cells, ES 细胞)起源于着床前胚胎内的细胞群,对 鼠ES 细胞研究已经有20 多年,但直到1998 年才首次报道从人的胚胎中获得ES 细胞,2006 年本实验室从兔体外受精胚胎的内细胞团分离建立了兔胚胎干细胞 系RF。ES 细胞是能在体外长期培养,高度未分化的全能细胞系,可在适合的条 件下分化为胎儿或成体的各种类型的组织细胞。根据这一特性,它们可用于再生 细胞或组织移植。胚胎干细胞的成功冻存是其应用于临床的前提。成功的冻存是 在冷冻、解冻和复苏培养过程中,细胞具有较高的存活率,且仍能保持胚胎干细 胞的自我更新和全能性的特性。目前除了小鼠ES 细胞用常规慢速冷冻方法可以 达到95%以上的未分化集落复苏率外(Yao & Yuan, 2005),其它物种尤其是灵长 类的许多ES 细胞系用常规慢速冷冻方法的复苏率极低,极大地限制了这些细胞 的临床应用。为提高兔胚胎干细胞RF 在慢速冷冻中的保存效果, 本研究比较了 二甲基亚砜(DMSO)和乙二醇(ethylene glycol,EG)对兔胚胎干细胞冷冻保护效 果。对冷冻复苏后的细胞进行台盼蓝染色,并研究其胚胎干细胞的分子特性,结 果表明, DMSO 比EG 具有更好的冷冻保护效果。再在以10% DMSO 为基础的 防冻液中添加膜稳定剂海藻糖或谷氨酰胺,细胞冷冻复苏后结果显示, 谷氨酰胺 对兔胚胎干细胞有明显的冷冻保护作用,使细胞存活率从71%提高到83.7%。当 谷氨酰胺浓度为0、5、10、20、40mmol/L 分别加入防冻液中后,20mmol/L 的 谷氨酰胺具有最佳的冷冻保护效果。以上结果得出兔胚胎干细胞慢速冷冻的防冻 液改进配方为:胚胎干细胞培养液中添加10% DMSO+20 mmol/L 谷氨酰胺.
