Efficient InGaAsP/InP multiple quantum well optical phase modulator for the 1.5-1.55μm fiber band

We report an InGaAsP/InP MQW phase modulator operating over the entire 1.55μm fiber band with high phase modulation efficiency and low loss modulation. The spectral dependence of the electro-refraction in a MQW structure is measured for the first time.

Microwave signal transmission over a directly-modulated radio-over-fiber link using cascaded semiconductor optical amplifiers

We demonstrate a record 150km transmission of microwave signals by a directly-modulated radio-over-fiber link with a bit-error-rate of less than 10-12. Cascaded semiconductor optical amplifiers are employed in this link to extend the transmission link length. © 2005 Optical Society of America.

Experimental analysis of SCM-based transmission over 500 m of FDDI-grade multimode fiber with enhancement from electronic equalization

Experimental analysis is applied for the first time to identify optimal launch conditions and carrier frequencies for SCM transmission over worst-case MMF. Potential for performance enhancement using electronic equalization is demonstrated for the first time. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
