This paper analyzes the path of the international expansion of Grupo Arcor, an Argentine multinational company specializing in confectionery. The objective is to entify corporate strategies and business learning that led this Latin American firm to establish itself as one of the leading manufacturers in confectionery industry ,particularly in the 21st Century. The analysis is primarily qualitative in order to identify the economic dimension as a determinant in the internationalization process; a processbased approach from the Uppsala Model is used for this. However, the study is also complemented with a regression analysis to test if the firm was driven to expand internationally by the expectations on the degree of globalization of the industry and the accumulation of experience in foreign markets, and if the company was influenced by psychic distance in choosing the location of its investment; given the influence of these variables in Grupo Arcor business strategies. Our findings suggest that Grupo Arcor, was able to become global due to strategies such as vertical integration, diversification of products and geographical markets (based on psychic distance) and indeed some strategies were consequence of the globalization of the sector and the accumulation of experience in foreign markets.

[eus] Egungo gizartean, konpetentzia emozional maila baxuak “analfabetismo emozionala” jarri du agerian (Goleman, 1996). Arrazoi honengatik, adimen emozionala jorratu beharra dago, bai familia eta baita hezkuntza arloan ere. Hau guztiagatik, ikerketa honen xede nagusia, 7-11 urte tarteko umeen trebetasun sozialak kooperazioaren bitartez sustatzea da; izan ere, garai horretan, gizabanakoaren bizitza soziala goreneko intentsitatera heltzen da. Honetarako, Bilboko Pagasarribide ikastetxean (Lehen Hezkuntzako 5.maila) jorratzeko unitate didaktikoa aurkezten da. Beraz, bertako bi jardueratan lortutako emaitzak kontuan hartuz, baieztatu ahal da, honi esker, ikasleen trebetasun sozialak garatu direla eta emozionalki adimentsuagoak izatea lortuko dutela unitate didaktiko hau bere osotasunean jorratu ondoren.

In recent decades, numerous studies have shown a significant increase in violence during childhood and adolescence. These data suggest the importance of implementing programs to prevent and reduce violent behavior. The study aimed to design a program of emotional intelligence (El) for adolescents and to assess its effects on variables related to violence prevention. The possible differential effect of the program on both genders was also examined. The sample comprised 148 adolescents aged from 13 to 16 years. The study used an experimental design with repeated pretest-posttest measures and control groups. To measure the variables, four assessment instruments were administered before and after the program, as well as in the follow-up phase (1 year after the conclusion of the intervention). The program consisted of 20 one-hour sessions. The pretest-posttest ANCOVAs showed that the program significantly increased: (1) El (attention, clarity, emotional repair); (2) assertive cognitive social interaction strategies; (3) internal control of anger; and (4) the cognitive ability to analyze negative feelings. In the follow-up phase, the positive effects of the intervention were generally maintained and, moreover, the use of aggressive strategies as an interpersonal conflict-resolution technique was significantly reduced. Regarding the effect of the program on both genders, the change was very similar, but the boys increased assertive social interaction strategies, attention, and emotional clarity significantly more than the girls. The importance of implementing programs to promote socio-emotional development and prevent violence is discussed.
