Magnetic vortex that consists of an in-plane curling magnetization configuration and a needle-like core region with out-of-plane magnetization is known to be the ground state of geometrically confined submicron soft magnetic elements. Here magnetodynamics of relatively thick (50-100 nm) circular Ni80Fe20 dots were probed by broadband ferromagnetic resonance in the absence of external magnetic field. Spin excitation modes related to the thickness dependent vortex core gyrotropic dynamics were detected experimentally in the gigahertz frequency range. Both analytical theory and micromagnetic simulations revealed that these exchange dominated modes are flexure oscillations of the vortex core string with n = 0,1,2 nodes along the dot thickness. The intensity of the mode with n = 1 depends significantly on both dot thickness and diameter and in some cases is higher than the one of the uniform mode with n = 0. This opens promising perspectives in the area of spin transfer torque oscillators.

Hartle's model provides the most widely used analytic framework to describe isolated compact bodies rotating slowly in equilibrium up to second order in perturbations in the context of General Relativity. Apart from some explicit assumptions, there are some implicit, like the "continuity" of the functions in the perturbed metric across the surface of the body. In this work we sketch the basics for the analysis of the second order problem using the modern theory of perturbed matchings. In particular, the result we present is that when the energy density of the fluid in the static configuration does not vanish at the boundary, one of the functions of the second order perturbation in the setting of the original work by Hartle is not continuous. This discrepancy affects the calculation of the change in mass of the rotating star with respect to the static configuration needed to keep the central energy density unchanged.

[eus] Gradu amaierako lan honetan ausazko matrizeen teoriari, RMT-ri, buruzko sarrera orokor bat egiten da ondoren aplikazio fisiko bat emateko. Teoriaren aplikazioa egiteko Kaos kuantikoa deritzon fisikaren arloa erabiliko da. Lehenik eta behin, RMT-ren kontzeptu batzuk azalduko dira helburutzat lehen auzokideen distantziaren distribuzioaren espresio lortzea izanik. Izan ere, distribuzio honek erakutsiko baititu Kaosak kuantikoki uzten dituen aztarnak. Bigarren kapituluan, aplikazio fisikoa azalduko da. Lehenengo Kaosean RMT nola aplikatzen den ikusiko da, ondoren adibide batzuen bidez argituz, eremu magnetiko batean dagoen hidrogeno atomoa eta billar kuantikoak izenarekin ezagutzen diren sistemak, batik bat.
