Introduction In the preantibiotic era Streptococcus pyogenes was a common cause of severe pneumonia but currently, except for postinfluenza complications, it is not considered a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia in adults. Aim and Material and Methods This study aimed to identify current clinical episodes of S. pyogenes pneumonia, its relationship with influenza virus circulation and the genotypes of the involved isolates during a decade in a Southern European region (Gipuzkoa, northern Spain). Molecular analysis of isolates included emm, multilocus-sequence typing, and superantigen profile determination. Results Forty episodes were detected (annual incidence 1.1 x 100,000 inhabitants, range 0.29-2.29). Thirty-seven episodes were community-acquired, 21 involved an invasive infection and 10 developed STSS. The associated mortality rate was 20%, with half of the patients dying within 24 hours after admission. Influenza coinfection was confirmed in four patients and suspected in another. The 52.5% of episodes occurred outside the influenza seasonal epidemic. The 67.5% of affected persons were elderly individuals and adults with severe comorbidities, although 13 patients had no comorbidities, 2 of them had a fatal outcome. Eleven clones were identified, the most prevalent being emm1/ST28 (43.6%) causing the most severe cases. Conclusions S. pyogenes pneumonia had a continuous presence frequently unrelated to influenza infection, being rapidly fatal even in previously healthy individuals.

We present a prototype that implements a set of logical rules to prove the satis ability for a class of speci cations on XML documents. Speci cations are given by means of constraints built on Boolean XPath patterns. The main goal of this tool is to test if a given speci cation is satis able or not, showing the history of the execution. It can also be used to test if a given document is a model of a given speci cation and, as a subproduct, it allows to look for all the relations (monomorphisms) between two patterns or the result of doing some operations by combining patterns in di erent ways. The results of these operations are visually shown and therefore the tool makes these operations more understandable. The implementation of the algorithm has been written in Prolog but the prototype has a Java interface for an easy and friendly use.

Este informe recoge la documentación generada para llevar a cabo una práctica interuniversitaria en el área de base de datos durante los cursos 09/10 y 10/11. Se ha desarrollado una experiencia entre la UPV/EHU y la Universidad de la Rioja incorporando de forma sistemática la telecolaboración, formando equipos de trabajo con estudiantes de las dos universidades que no se conocen entre sí y han trabajado a distancia. El proyecto se ha realizado en el ámbito de dos asignaturas de bases de datos concretas, una de cada universidad, donde las similitudes y diferencias entre ambas producen equipos heterogéneos. Los alumnos han colaborado en las diferentes fases de la creación de una base de datos, desde la invención de unos requisitos hasta la realización de consultas. Para el desarrollo de esta práctica se han elaborado enunciados detallados para cada fase con ejemplos del trabajo a realizar. Además se ha acordado una rúbrica de evaluación y una encuesta para valorar la experiencia. En el presente documento se recopila dicho material de soporte.
