At present, there is practically no research on fisheries economics in Germany. Due to special interest of a research assistant in the field of land economics at the Institute of Botany of the University of Greifswald two projects on fisheries economics are being carried out, and a Ph. D. thesis on this topic has been finished. Basically two levels must be distinguished: business level and economics. Business economics relate mainly to operational and market analysis, but also to consequences of political measures for a single company. Economical considerations relate to long-term measures. It is important to find a compromise between short-term economical success and stable long-term conditions for the fishery.

This annotated bibliography of selected literature on Olney's three7square (Scirpus olneyi Gray )compiled basically for two reasons: 1) to assist a task force in its pursuit of an explanation for the substantial reduction in marsh acreage at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester County, Maryland, and 2) to serve as the author's foundation for the initiation of ecological research on this species as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Botany Department of the University of Maryland. Both purposes are directly related in that the Author's research will be of use to the task force, along I with its other technical information and research results, in under-standing and possibly correcting the marshland loss problem at the Refuge. A survey of aquatic invertebrates of the Somerset Levels, August 13-14, 1981

Since 1975 the wildlife interest of the Somerset Levels and Moors have been assessed. Detailed information has been obtained on the conservation interest of meadows, breeding and wintering bird populations and the botany of aquatic habitats (rhynes). Little work to date has been carried out on the terrestrial and aquatic invertebrate fauna. The prime aim of this survey was to sample a wide variety of rhynes in order to obtain information on the nature and distribution of aquatic invertebrates.
