Mersey & Weaver Fisheries Advisory Committee 7th April, 1977.

This is the report from the Mersey and Weaver Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 7th April, 1977. South Lancashire Fisheries Advisory Committee 7th May, 1975

This is the report from the South Lancashire Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 7th May, 1975. It covers information on fishery byelaws, eel trapping, and a report by the Unit Fisheries Officer on fisheries activities. This section includes work on stocking, fisheries management, fish mortalities including date, location, number, species and cause. Migratory fish runs for the Rivers Ribble and Hodder during 1974 are also added. Catch returns and spawning information for 1974 are also covered aswell as biological work undertaken. Licence duties and information on the importation of live freshwater fish are included. Derwent & West Cumbria Fisheries Advisory Committee 7th January, 1980.

This is the report from the Derwent and West Cumbria Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 7th January 1980. The report contains sections on net and fixed engine licence duties, pollution incidents on the River Cocker and Wilton Beck, and information on the water resource development for West Cumbria. It also includes the report by the area fisheries officer which looks at river conditions and fishing, migratory fish movement, and an update on Holmwrangle Hatchery. Also covered is the stocking carried out by the Water Authority, fish disease and biological work on Ennerdale Water supply and char marking. The Fisheries Advisory Committee was part of the Regional Water Authorities, in this case the North West Water Authority. This preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

Central Area Fisheries Advisory Committee 7th September, 1981

This is the report from the Central Area Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 7th September, 1981. It covers information including the consultation paper on the review of Inland and Coastal fisheries in England and Wales, a paper on 'A National Salmon Policy' and information on the response to an application for a professional eel trapper to fish for eels with fyke nets on Lake Windermere. The Fisheries Advisory Committee was part of the Regional Water Authorities, in this case the North West Water Authority. This preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

Southern Area Fisheries Advisory Committee 7th April, 1982

This is the report from the Southern Area Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 7th April, 1982. It includes information on the report by the area fisheries officer on fisheries activites from September 1981 to January 1982. The report covers information on river conditions and fishing, and an update on the work at Hollingworth and the Pilot hatchery. It also includes stocking numbers of fish and fish ova by the Angling Associations, fish disease, fish mortalities and management work. The Fisheries Advisory Committee was part of the Regional Water Authorities, in this case the North West Water Authority. This preceded the Environment Agency which came into existence in 1996.

River Exe Scale Reading Investigation. 7th Annual Report for the 1972 season

This is the 7th Annual Report of the Rive Exe Scale Reading Investigation for the 1972 Season by the Devon River Authority. The object of this investigation is to examine, by means of scale reading, the biology of age classes of the salmon population of the River Exe. It reviews the methods used for the collection of scales and examination of the materials. It shows the results of the survey and the number of scales studied from each of the various sea-age classes, time of running with distribution of the sea-age groups throughout the season, fish sizes and smolt ages at migration. All is summarized in tables, and figures are included showing weight distributions for each age classes and frequency distributions.

Aquatic ecology monitoring: water quality, fish, fish catch, sanitation and disease vectors: monitoring No.7, 4-7th September 2010

The results reported on were from a monitoring survey No.7 undertaken between 4 th and 7th September 2010 during construction period of the Bujagali Hydropower Project (BHPP). Two pre-construction, baseline surveys in April 2000 and April 2006 were conducted and so far, during construction phase of the project, six monitoring surveys have been undertaken i.e. in September 2007, April 2008, April 2009, October 2009, April 2010 and the present one, in September 2010. Since 2009 biannual monitoring surveys have been conducted at an upstream and a downstream transect of the BHPP with emphasis on the following aspects: I. water quality determinants 2. biology and ecology of fishes and food webs 3. fish stock and fish catch including economic aspects of catch and 4. sanitation/vector studies (bilharzias and river blindness)

The survey covered by this report was undertaken between 3rd and 7th April 2009 as a follow-up on the during construction surveys. Two pre-construction baseline surveys were undertaken in April 2000 and April 2006. During the construction phase which started in 2007, three surveys including the current one have been undertaken i.e. in September 2007, April 2008 and the present one, in April 2009. Unlike in all previous surveys in which monitoring was conducted at one transect upstream and three downstream transects, in the current survey, two transects, one upstream and the other,downstream of the BHPP were sampled with emphasis on the following aspects: 1. water quality determinants 2. biology and ecology of fishes and food webs 3. fish stock and fish catch including economic aspects of catch and 4. sanitation/vector studies (bilharzias and river blindness)
