Lune, Wyre & Furness Fisheries Advisory Committee 10th April, 1980.

This is the report from the Lune, Wyre and Furness Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 10th April 1980. Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee 14th September, 1987

This is the report from the Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 14th September, 1987. The report contains information on Haweswater hatchery, River Eden draft netting, Fishery Byelaws, Haaf Net Limitation Order for the Solway Firth, Sea Fisheries Byelaws, River Caldew Weirs, serious fish mortalities, and the abolition of the coarse fish close season in enclosed waters. The section on River Caldew Weirs looks at the construction of fish passes at three weirs on the River Caldew to let migratory fish species reach the upper parts of the river. The section on serious fish mortalities covers information on the River Weaver, three pools system in Southport, Macclesfield Canal in Congleton, and River Eden, Appleby. Kent estuary survey 8th July 1980

This is the Kent estuary survey 8th July 1980 produced by the North West Water Authority in 1980. This survey was carried out on the Kent Estuary on the 8th July, 1980 during the period 3h hours before to 1.5 hours after low water. The chemical water quality in the vicinity of Arnside was found, in general, to be good. The E. coli counts were found to be at or below the E E C mandatory value for bathing waters. Downstream of the Arnside outfall the E coli counts were generally above the E E C mandatory value, the counts getting higher at and after low water. B O D values also increased at low water though ammonia and phosphate (except for 1 sample) concentrations were low. The total coliform counts both at Arnside and below the outfall were always above the E E C mandatory level (except for 2 samples).

A review of water year 1987 in northern California [abstract and figures]

It turned out to be the ninth driest this century in Northern California's Sacramento River basin. I'd like to summarize for you some interesting facts about water year 1987 and how it affected rainfall, snowpack, runoff, and water storage in California.

Trends in counts of manatees Trichechus manatus latirostris from 1987 to 2006 in waters of Sarasota County, Florida, USA

To demonstrate the utility of distributional surveys for assessing relative abundance and trends in counts for a discrete area of coastline, aerial survey data from Sarasota County, Florida, USA, were analyzed for the years 1987 to 2006. The study area was divided into 3 regions: the Sarasota Bay Region (SBR; N = 353 surveys), Lemon Bay (N = 368), and the Myakka River (N = 209). Manatee counts varied significantly across seasons (p < 0.0001) for all 3 regions. Manatees within Sarasota County utilized open bays primarily in the warmer months. Such usage may have been influenced by resource availability. Conversely, usage of the Myakka River peaked in winter months when manatees seek warm-water refugia such as Warm Mineral Spring. Marginal means for yearly counts within Lemon Bay and the SBR increased significantly, beginning midway through the survey period (1996) until the early 2000s. In contrast, mean yearly counts within the Myakka River decreased over this time period. After record lows in 2003 for Lemon Bay and the Myakka River, and a considerable decline in 2004 for the SBR, mean yearly counts for all 3 regions showed an increasing trend over the remaining 2 yr of the study. Greater protection of manatee habitat and availability of forage coincided with the increase in numbers of manatees using Sarasota County waters during the 1990s, and the subsequent decline in numbers may be indicative of the increase in mortality in recent years due to watercraft collisions and severe red tide events.
