Sobre los peces del territorio de Río Negro.

Breve excursión en 1936 por tercera vez a la zona del río Negro correspondiente a Viedma para efectuar nuevos estudios sobre lampreas y larvas, coleccionar peces propios del río, de la desembocadura y marinos, y aumentar los datos de ecología de la región.

El pejerrey de la laguna del Monte (Guaminí) en 1927-1928.

Entre las lagunas bonaerenses con pesca abundante del pejerrey, la de del Monte, en Guaminí, logró fama por su rendimiento extraordinario en determinados años, para luego decaer casi desapareciendo como fuente pesquera. En 1927 el gobierno provincial denunció el hecho de que "el pejerrey casi no crecía". Por esta causa, en ese año realicé estudios con tendencia a un planeamiento ecológico del problema pesquero y que repetí en 1928 cuando, según los pescadores, las condiciones de pesca eran más favorables. El hecho principal resultante es que, si bien el pejerrey de esa laguna no crecía más de 23 o 24 cm de longitud total, sus escamas exhibían 3 y 4 anillos, lo que indica otros tantos años de edad. Para esa edad, en otras lagunas el pejerrey es mucho más grande.

Sobre el “pez trompeta” (Notopogon shoteli).

En las colecciones del Museo de La Plata existía desde 1918 un ejemplar adulto del curioso "pez trompeta". Al encargarme de la renovación de dichas colecciones el año pasado conseguí un regular número de nuevos ejemplares, todos obtenidos frente a las costas bonaerenses por los barcos que pescan en relativa profundidad. Se trata de Notopogon shoteli.

Its deal with the study of a sample of "river ray" of the Potamotrygonidae family procured in the Colastiné river (Midle Paraná)showing an external morphology relating it closely to two species of said family: Potamotrygon falkneri Castex y Maciel, 1963 and P. menchacai Martínez Achembach, 1965.

Peces continentales de la Argentina: Iconografía. Brycon orbignyanus.

The goal of this work is to present a collection of drawings and figures depicting the species present in our country. To achieve this, our main sources of information have been the works of Ringuelet et al. (1967), Reis et al. (2003), and López et al. (2003; 2006), as well as the online databases of W. N. Eschmeyer and Fish Base. Each species has an individual factsheet with selected images, including some from anatomical research works. All the works referenced are mentioned in each factsheet. This is an open-ended publication. As such, it will require permanent updating, which will depend on the good will and collaboration of the ichthyological community. As compilers, we understand that this contribution not only provides valuable information, but also highlights the work of men and women who are part of the rich history of our national and regional ichthyology.

Peces continentales de la Argentina: Bibliografía. Brycon orbignyanus.

The goal of this work is to compile the existing information about the species present in our country. This has been done by means of datasheets that list both local references and reviews by foreign authors that include Argentine taxa. The main information sources consulted were Ringuelet et al. (1967), CLOFFSCA (2003), López et al. (2003; 2006), Liotta (2006) and the online databases of W. N. Eschmeyer and Fish Base. This is an open-ended publication. As such, it will require permanent updating, which will depend on the good will and collaboration of the ichthyological community. With this contribution, we hope to help to build a database of the freshwater fish of Argentina. The completion of this project will provide support to diverse plans emanating from different sectors, as well as promote the diffusion of this field of research and reaffirm Argentina’s sovereign rights over our natural resources. Ictiólogos de la Argentina: Argentino Aurelio Bonetto.

This series will include all those people who, by means of their contributions, great and small, played a part in the consolidation of ichthyology in Argentina. The general plan of this work consists of individual factsheets containing a list of works by each author, along with reference bibliography and, whenever possible, personal pictures and additional material. The datasheets will be published primarily in chronological order, although this is subject to change by the availability of materials for successive editions. This work represents another approach for the recovery and revalorization of those who set the foundations of Argentine ichthyology while in diverse historical circumstances. I expect this to be the beginning of a major work that achieves the description of such a significant part of the history of natural sciences in Argentina.
