Summary of fishery statistics, 1983

This fisheries report summarises developments of the year 1983 in the region of the North West Water Authority. It provides catch statistics, rod and line and commercial catches for salmon and sea trout, fish culture and hatchery operations, restocking with trout and freshwater fish, upstream fish movement recorded at Authority fish counters, counts of salmon and sea trout spawning redds, fish mortalities, licences issued, and prosecutions.

1983 fisheries statistics, Lake Kariba - Zimbabwe side

Statistics are presented of the open water and inshore fisheries of Lake Kariba, the Zimbabwe side, for 1983.

Preliminary use of oxygen stable isotopes and the 1983 El Niño to assess the accuracy of aging black rockfish (Sebastes melanops)

Black rockfish (Sebastes melanops) range from California to Alaska and are found in both nearshore and shallow continental shelf waters (Love et al., 2002). Juveniles and subadults inhabit shallow water, moving deeper as they grow. Generally, adults are found at depths shallower than 55 meters and reportedly live up to 50 years. The species is currently managed by using information from an age-structured stock assessment model (Ralston and Dick, 2003).

Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee 31st January, 1983

This is the report from the Regional Fisheries Advisory Committee meeting, which was held on the 31st January, 1983. The report contains sections on Draft net licences (Rivers Derwent and Ellen estuaries), net limitation order, proposed pike ranching scheme on Esthwaite Water, Diseases of fish bill, outbreak of Whirling disease, and the control of federal mink. West Cumbria Special Fisheries Advisory Group 9th March, 1983
