Rearing cyprinid fry in cages [conclusions only] [Translation from: Gospodarka rybna, Warszawa 27(8/9) 3-5, 1975]

This short translation presents the conclusions only of a study of the proposed method of rearing cyprinid fry in cages and how this method can increase the amount of material produced of the stocked fry.

Experimental culture of algal balls (Cladophora sauteri). Retention of original shape [Translation from: Bull.Jap.Soc.Phycol. Vol. 10, (1), p. 23-27, 1962]

It was on July 1960 when 10 algal balls were acquired for exhibition at Suma Aquarium, Kobe. Permission to remove the specimens from the Lake Akan Reserve was given by the National Nature Reserve Committee. Algal balls, as a rule, lose their natural beauty when they are kept in an ordinary tank for a certain length of time. In an effort to retain the natural beauty it was decided to exhibit them in culture. This paper summarises the findings of this experiments with Cladophora sauteri. The author concludes that serious consideration has to be given as to the intensity of light, the sunlight, the water temperature and the nutrition for algal balls in culture in order to retain the natural beauty and shape.

Joint research project on the aquatic ecotoxicity of organo-aluminium: Chemical reactions. First interim report

The overall goal of the joint research project is to relate the chemical reactions involved in the formation of organo-aluminium complexes under acid conditions to their toxic effects on the physiology of aquatic organisms. Finally, this research is intended to predict toxic effects arising from acidity and aluminium under varying environmental conditions. This interim report examines the chemical modelling of ion-binding by humic substances where a computer model has been developed and is being tested using field data, and conditions required for the precipitation of aluminium in surface waters.

Campagnes Nizery: Togo 1 (26 et 27/01/83) et Togo 2 (07 au 10/06/83). Resultats des chalutages

This publication gives the results of the bottom trawlings made during the cruises Togo 1 and Togo 2 by the oceanographic research vessel "Andre Nizery" on the continental shelf of Togo during the estimation program of halieutic resources. The report includes: 1 - The report of the cruises Togo 1 and Togo 2; 2 - Some information on the presentation of the results; 3 - The trawl recording cards for the 2 cruises; 4 - The length frequency distributions of the measured samples.
