As the number of data sources publishing their data on the Web of Data is growing, we are experiencing an immense growth of the Linked Open Data cloud. The lack of control on the published sources, which could be untrustworthy or unreliable, along with their dynamic nature that often invalidates links and causes conflicts or other discrepancies, could lead to poor quality data. In order to judge data quality, a number of quality indicators have been proposed, coupled with quality metrics that quantify the “quality level” of a dataset. In addition to the above, some approaches address how to improve the quality of the datasets through a repair process that focuses on how to correct invalidities caused by constraint violations by either removing or adding triples. In this paper we argue that provenance is a critical factor that should be taken into account during repairs to ensure that the most reliable data is kept. Based on this idea, we propose quality metrics that take into account provenance and evaluate their applicability as repair guidelines in a particular data fusion setting.

A method to achieve improvement in template size for an iris-recognition system is reported. To achieve this result, the biological characteristics of the human iris have been studied. Processing has been performed by image processing techniques, isolating the iris and enhancing the area of study, after which multi resolution analysis is made. Reduction of the pattern obtained has been obtained via statistical study.

We introduce adequate concepts of expansion of a digraph to obtain a sequential construction of minimal strong digraphs. We obtain a characterization of the class of minimal strong digraphs whose expansion preserves the property of minimality. We prove that every minimal strong digraph of order nmayor que=2 is the expansion of a minimal strong digraph of order n-1 and we give sequentially generative procedures for the constructive characterization of the classes of minimal strong digraphs. Finally we describe algorithms to compute unlabeled minimal strong digraphs and their isospectral classes.

The Chinchón Saint Claire Convent is a Count Foundation of 1653. Some repair works were made around 1965, but some important cracks were remained. This paper describes the soil study made to know, its properties, the reason of these movements and its consequences to the convent and the repair works done. A high swelling phenomenon has been detected. The convent is on a high plasticity clayey soil with soil sandy insertions. The soil water has a high content of sulphates. In addition, some sewer system piping was broken around the convent and frequently flooded the convent crypt. A micropiles underpinning was made and the water leaked has lead to the sewer system to avoid the crypt flooding, also a drainage system has been made and the ground around the church has been paved.

One of the main problems relief teams face after a natural or man-made disaster is how to plan rural road repair work tasks to take maximum advantage of the limited available financial and human resources. Previous research focused on speeding up repair work or on selecting the location of health centers to minimize transport times for injured citizens. In spite of the good results, this research does not take into account another key factor: survivor accessibility to resources. In this paper we account for the accessibility issue, that is, we maximize the number of survivors that reach the nearest regional center (cities where economic and social activity is concentrated) in a minimum time by planning which rural roads should be repaired given the available financial and human resources. This is a combinatorial problem since the number of connections between cities and regional centers grows exponentially with the problem size, and exact methods are no good for achieving an optimum solution. In order to solve the problem we propose using an Ant Colony System adaptation, which is based on ants? foraging behavior. Ants stochastically build minimal paths to regional centers and decide if damaged roads are repaired on the basis of pheromone levels, accessibility heuristic information and the available budget. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by means of an example regarding the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and its performance is compared with another metaheuristic, GRASP.
