The solubility parameters of two SBS commercial rubbers with different structures (lineal and radial), and with slightly different styrene content have been determined by inverse gas chromatography technique. The Flory–Huggins interaction parameters of several polymer–solvent mixtures have also been calculated. The influence of the polymer composition, the solvent molecular weight and the temperature over these parameters have been discussed; besides, these parameters have been compared with previous ones, obtained by intrinsic viscosity measurements. From the Flory–Huggins interaction parameters, the infinite dilution activity coefficients of the solvents have been calculated and fitted to the well-known NRTL model. These NRTL binary interaction parameters have a great importance in modelling the separation steps in the process of obtaining the rubber.

Se investiga la compleja mineralogía del Yacimiento de Pallancata (6º productor de plata del mundo) y se establecen las condiciones de formación (P.T) basadas en la petrología de las menas comparada con los datos de mineralogía experimental y en la petrografía y microtermometría de inclusiones fluídas en la ganga silicatada, resultando un depósito típicamente caracterizado como epitermal de sulfuración intermedia.ABSTRACT:Pallancata is a world-class intermediate-sulfidation epithermal deposit, hosted by upper Miocene volcanics of the south-central Peruvian Andes in a sinuous N70ºW, ∼75º SW strike-slip structure, with wide (up to 35 m) pull-apart dilation zones related to bends of the vein strike. The structural evolution of the vein from earlier brecciation to later open space infill resembles the Shila Paula district (Chauvet et al. 2006). Fluid inclusion petrography and microthermometry show that ore deposition is related to protracted boiling of very diluted, mainly meteoric fluids, starting at 250–260 ºC, under ∼300 m hydrostatic head. The mineralogical-petrological study reveals a complex sequence of mineralization (eight stages) and mineral reactions consistent with Ag2S enrichment or Sb2S3 depletion, or both, during cooling over the temperature range 250–200 ºC: pyrite, sphalerite, galena, miargyrite, pyrargyrite-proustite, chalcopyrite, polybasite-pearceite, argentite (now acanthite), and Au–Ag alloy (“electrum”). This Ag2S enrichment and Sb2S3depletion during cooling may be explained by decay of a Ag-rich galena precursor at deeper levels (Pb2S2–AgSbS2 solid solution), which rapidly becomes unstable with decreasing temperature, producing residual (stoichiometric) PbS and more mobile Ag and Sb sulfide phases, which migrated upward and laterally away from the thermal core of the system. The core is still undisclosed by mining works, but the available geochemical evidence (logAg/log Pb ratios decreasing at depth) is consistent with this interpretation, implying a deeper potential resource. Data from sulfide geothermometry, based on mineral equilibria, document the thermal evolution of the system below 200 ºC (stephanite, uytenbogaardtite, jalpaite, stromeyerite, mckinstryite, among others). The end of the most productive stages (3, 4, and 5) is marked by the precipitation of stephanite at temperatures below 197 ± 5 ºC, but precipitation of residual silver continues through the waning stages of the hydrothermal system down to <93.3 ºC (stromeyerite) or in a supergene redistribution (stage 8, acanthite II).

This paper presents a theoretical framework intended to accommodate circuit devices described by characteristics involving more than two fundamental variables. This framework is motivated by the recent appearance of a variety of so-called mem-devices in circuit theory, and makes it possible to model the coexistence of memory effects of different nature in a single device. With a compact formalism, this setting accounts for classical devices and also for circuit elements which do not admit a two-variable description. Fully nonlinear characteristics are allowed for all devices, driving the analysis beyond the framework of Chua and Di Ventra We classify these fully nonlinear circuit elements in terms of the variables involved in their constitutive relations and the notions of the differential- and the state-order of a device. We extend the notion of a topologically degenerate configuration to this broader context, and characterize the differential-algebraic index of nodal models of such circuits. Additionally, we explore certain dynamical features of mem-circuits involving manifolds of non-isolated equilibria. Related bifurcation phenomena are explored for a family of nonlinear oscillators based on mem-devices.

Transition metals such as Fe, Cu, Mn, Ni, or Co are essential nutrients, as they are constitutive elements of a significant fraction of cell proteins. Such metals are present in the active site of many enzymes, and also participate as structural elements in different proteins. From a chemical point of view, metals have a defined order of affinity for binding, designated as the Irving-Williams series (Irving and Williams, 1948) Mg2+ menor que Mn2+ menor que Fe2+ menor que Co2+ menor que Ni2+ menor que Cu2+mayor queZn2+ Since cells contain a high number of different proteins harbouring different metal ions, a simplistic model in which proteins are synthesized and metals imported into a ?cytoplasmic soup? cannot explain the final product that we find in the cell. Instead we need to envisage a complex model in which specific ligands are present in definite amounts to leave the right amounts of available metals and protein binding sites, so specific pairs can bind appropriately. A critical control on the amount of ligands and metal present is exerted through specific metal-responsive regulators able to induce the synthesis of the right amount of ligands (essentially metal binding proteins), import and efflux proteins. These systems are adapted to establish the metal-protein equilibria compatible with the formation of the right metalloprotein complexes. Understanding this complex network of interactions is central to the understanding of metal metabolism for the synthesis of metalloenzymes, a key topic in the Rhizobium-legume symbiosis. In the case of the Rhizobium leguminosarum bv viciae (Rlv) UPM791 -Pisum sativum symbiotic system, the concentration of nickel in the plant nutrient solution is a limiting factor for hydrogenase expression, and provision of high amounts of this element to the plant nutrient solution is required to ensure optimal levels of enzyme synthesis (Brito et al., 1994).

Nowadays, cement based materials (pastes, mortars, concrete and other mixtures) are widely used. These kinds of material are one of the pillars of Civil Engineering due to their structural properties, easy manufacturing and low cost. Their properties allow the use in industrial and natural environments. They are very versatile materials for use in this type of environment. But it is necessary to to keep in mind that they have a durability limited when they are exposed to aggressives environments where leaching process occur and various aggressive ions can damage the materials. This research work was developed motivated by the need to go in dept in the knoledge of the behavior of cement based materials. These kinds of materials frecuently are exposed to some types of damage that occur on farms located in natural environments. An experimental procedure that would allow us to evaluate the effect of organic acids on the cement matrix and the action presented by sulfates and natural waters in the same was designed. Always bearing in mind the characteristics of the solutions to which the material is exposed. Ultimately it comes to understanding the mechanisms of the processes leading to define the material behavior in this type of environment. Test procedures and characterization techniques are fundamental tools which to deepen the knowledge of the material, so it is important to know in its potential uses. In this work we have developed a deep study of the use of thermal analysis in the characterization of cement pastes. Furthermore, we have optimized characterization procedures of samples with other techniques. The characterization of the samples has allowed us to check the behavior of the material on exposure to accelerated laboratory tests. The results have established that the pH of the corrosive media is a fundamental variable when it comes to assessing the aggressiveness of it. The presences of certain ions develop synergies with respect to pH and would determine the values of the constants governing thermodynamic equilibria. The possible formation of salts of organic acids and the different solubility of the same would lead to changes in mechanical behavior. The proportion of aluminum compounds or the presence of pozzolans capable of binding calcium is also evidenced as determining factors in the material behavior. Besides we could assert that the dissolution of the portlandite is a determining effect on the degradation process.
