The separation of the lower stage of the ARIANE 5 Vehicle Equipment Bay (VEB) Structure is to be done using a pyrotechnic device. The wave propagation effects produced by the explosion can affect the electronic equipment, so it was decided to analyze, using both physical and numerical modeling, a small piece of the structure to determine the distribution of the accelerations and the relative importance of damping, stiffness, connections, etc. on the response of the equipment.

The performance of a CATR relies on the planarity of the synthesized test wave, which is generated within a bounded volume for which specifications are drawn. Millimetre-wave facilities deal with the classical limitations of this frequency band, among which two become critical in our analysis: time-extensive acquisition campaigns and impact of environmental variables. Both features become more evident when increasing the frequency of operation. The variation in atmospheric variables, such as humidity, temperature and pressure has an influence over the performance of all the elements of the facility. The instrumentation behavior is influenced both by the warming up process, and the ambience conditions that surround the equipment. On the changes of the atmosphere itself, they affect the electromagnetic wave propagation, given the physical link between the conditions of the atmosphere and its electric properties as an electromagnetic waves propagation medium

Double layer and edge-location via techniques are combined for electromagnetic band gap (EBG) size reduction. The study of the required number of elements and their dimensions is carried out in order to suppress the surface wave propagation modes and consequently to reduce the mutual coupling between radiating elements in low-permittivity substrates. By applying these techniques, the size of the EBG mushroom is reduced by 30%; however, the bandwidth operation maintains its value, and these structures can be integrated between radiating elements in broad bandwidth antennas.

This paper presents some of the modelling criteria that have been used for the study of pyrotechnic shock propagation in the A5 VEB Structure, as well as the main conclusions from a mathematical model of the axymmetric effects in it. The separation of the lower stage of the ARIANE 5 Vehicle Equipment Bay (VEB)Structure is to be done using a pyrotechnic device. The wave propagation effects produced by the explosion have been analyzed with a computer program using as shape functions the analytical solution to the frequency response of a Timoshenko-Rayleigh beams and shells in that way the discretization can have elements as large as possible, depending on the material properties and boundary conditions. Moreover an enormous amount of possibilities in the treatment of concentrated masses, springs and dashpots, either with respect to a fixed reference or between nodes, is open for translational as well as rotational degrees of freedom.

Esta tesis que tiene por título "Contribución a los arrays de antenas activos en banda X", ha sido desarrollada por el estudiante de doctorado Gonzalo Expósito Domínguez, ingeniero de telecomunicación en el Grupo de Radiación del Departamento de Señales, Sistemas y Radiocomunicaciones de la ETSI de Telecomunicación de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid bajo la dirección de los doctores Manuel Sierra Castañer y José Manuel Fernández González. Esta tesis contiene un profundo estudio del arte en materia de antenas activas en el campo de apuntamiento electrónico. Este estudio comprende desde los fundamentos de este tipo de antenas, problemas de operación y limitaciones hasta los sistemas actuales más avanzados. En ella se identifican las partes críticas en el diseño y posteriormente se llevan a la práctica con el diseño, simulación y construcción de un subarray de una antena integrada en el fuselaje de un avión para comunicaciones multimedia por satélite que funciona en banda X. El prototipo consta de una red de distribución multihaz de banda ancha y una antena planar. El objetivo de esta tesis es el de aplicar nuevas técnicas al diseño de antenas de apuntamiento electrónico. Es por eso que las contribuciones originales son la aplicación de barreras electromagnéticas entre elementos radiantes para reducir los acoplamientos mutuos en arrays de exploración electrónica y el diseño de redes desfasadoras sencillas en las que no son necesarios complejos desfasadores para antenas multihaz. Hasta la fecha, las barreras electromagnéticas, Electronic Band Gap (EBG), se construyen en sustratos de permitividad alta con el fin de aumentar el espacio disponible entre elementos radiantes y reducir el tamaño de estas estructuras. Sin embargo, la utilización de sustratos de alta permitividad aumenta la propagación por ondas de superficie y con ellas el acoplo mutuo. Utilizando sustratos multicapa y colocando la vía de las estructuras en su borde, en vez de en su centro, se consigue reducir el tamaño sin necesidad de usar sustratos de alta permitividad, reducir la eficiencia de radiación de la antena o aumentar la propagación por ondas de superficie. La última parte de la tesis se dedica a las redes conmutadoras y desfasadoras para antenas multihaz. El diseño de las redes de distribución para antenas son una parte crítica ya que se comportan como un atenuador a la entrada de la cadena receptora, modificando en gran medida la figura de ruido del sistema. Las pérdidas de un desfasador digital varían con el desfase introducido, por ese motivo es necesario caracterizar y calibrar los dispositivos correctamente. Los trabajos presentados en este manuscrito constan de un desfasador reflectivo con un conmutador doble serie paralelo para igualar las pérdidas de inserción en los dos estados y también un conmutador de una entrada y dos salidas cuyos puertos están adaptados en todo momento independientemente del camino del conmutador para evitar las reflexiones y fugas entre redes o elementos radiantes. El tomo finaliza con un resumen de las publicaciones en revistas científicas y ponencias en congresos, nacionales e internacionales, el marco de trabajo en el que se ha desarrollado, las colaboraciones que se han realizado y las líneas de investigación futuras. ABSTRACT This thesis was carried out in the Radiation Group of the Signals, Systems and Radiocomunications department of ETSI de Telecomunicación from Technical University of Madrid. Its title is "Contribution to active array antennas at X band" and it is developed by Gonzalo Expósito Domínguez, Electrical Engineer MsC. under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manuel Sierra Castañer and Dr. José Manuel Fernández González. This thesis is focused on active antennas, specifically multibeam and electronic steering antenas. In the first part of the thesis a thorough description of the state of the art is presented. This study compiles the fundamentals of this antennas, operation problems and limits, up to the breakthrough applications. The critical design problems are described to use them eventually in the design, simulation and prototyping of an airborne steering array antenna for satellite communication at X band. The main objective of this thesis is to apply new techniques to the design of electronically steering antennas. Therefore the new original contributions are the application of Electromagnetic Band Gap materials (EBG) between radiating elements to reduce the mutual coupling when phase shift between elements exist and phase shifting networks where special characteristics are required. So far, the EBG structures have been constructed with high permitivity substrates in order to increase the available space between radiating elements and reduce the size of the structures. However, the surface wave propagation modes are enhanced and therefore the mutual coupling increases when high permitivity substrates are used. By using multilayered substrates and edge location via, the size is reduced meanwhile low permitivity substrates are used without reducing the radiation efficiency or enhancing the surface propagation modes. The last part of the thesis is focused on the phase shifting distribution networks for multibeam antennas. This is a critical part in the antenna design because the insertion loss in the distribution network behaves as an attenuator located in the first place in a receiver chain. The insertion loss will affect directly to the receiver noise figure and the insertion loss in a phase shifter vary with the phase shift. Therefore the devices must be well characterized and calibrated in order to obtain a properly operation. The work developed in this thesis are a reflective phase shifter with a series-shunt switch in order to make symmetrical the insertion loss for the two states and a complex Single Pole Double Through (SPDT) with matched ports in order to reduce the reflections and leakage between feeding networks and radiating elements. The end of this Ph D. dissertation concludes with a summary of the publications in national and international conferences and scientific journals, the collaborations carried out along the thesis and the future research lines.

On the basis of the BBGKY hierarchy of equations an expression is derived for the response of a fully ionized plasma to a strong, high-frequency electric field in the limit of infinite ion mass. It is found that even in this limit the ionion correlation function is substantially affected by the field. The corrections to earlier nonlinear results for the current density appear to be quite ssential. The validity of the model introduced by Dawson and Oberman to study the response to a vanishingly small field is confirmed for larger values of the field when the eorrect expression for the ion-ion correlations i s introduced; the model by itself does not yield such an expression. The results have interest for the heating of the plasma and for the propagation of a strong electromagnetic wave through the plasma. The theory seems to be valid for any field intensity for which the plasma is stable.

La generalización del uso de dispositivos móviles, con su consiguiente aumento del tráfico de datos, está generando una demanda cada vez mayor de bandas de frecuencia para el despliegue de sistemas de comunicación inalámbrica, así como una creciente congestión en las bandas bajas del espectro (hasta 3 GHz). Entre las posibles soluciones a este problema, se ha propuesto que la próxima generación de sistemas celulares, 5G, hagan uso de la banda milimétrica, entre 30 GHz y 300 GHz, donde hay anchos de banda contiguos disponibles con tamaños muy difíciles de encontrar en las frecuencias en uso en la generación actual. Este Proyecto de Fin de Grado tiene como finalidad estudiar la viabilidad del despliegue de sistemas celulares en dicha banda, basándose en los estudios tanto empíricos como teóricos ya publicados, así como en las recomendaciones de la UIT donde se estudian las características de propagación en estas bandas. En un siguiente apartado, se han analizado los documentos disponibles de los distintos proyectos y grupos, como pueden ser METIS-2020, impulsado por la Comisión Europea o IMT-2020 promovido por la UIT, dedicados a definir los futuros estándares de comunicación y sus características, así como la evolución de los actuales. Aparte del trabajo de documentación, se han realizado una serie de simulaciones. En primer lugar, se ha utilizado MATLAB para estudiar el comportamiento y la atenuación de la onda electromagnética a las frecuencias de interés en diferentes ubicaciones y climas, tanto en ubicaciones habituales como extremas, estudiándose los efectos de los gases atmosféricos y los hidrometeoros. También se ha utilizado software de planificación radioeléctrica profesional para hacer estudios de cobertura en entornos tanto urbanos, entre ellos Madrid o Barcelona, suburbanos, como Tres Cantos (Madrid) y O Barco de Valdeorras (Orense), y rurales como Valdefuentes (Cáceres) y Quiruelas de Vidriales (Zamora). Por último se han recogido todos los resultados, tanto los provenientes de los estudios como los obtenidos de nuestras propias simulaciones, y se ha realizado un breve comentario, comparando estos y analizando su impacto para posibles despliegues futuros de redes 5G. ABSTRACT. The generalization of mobile device use, with its associated data traffic growth, is generating a growing demand of spectrum for its use in the deployment of wireless telecommunication systems, and a growing congestion in the lower end of the spectrum (until 3 GHz). Among the possible solutions for this problem, it has been proposed that the next generation of cellular systems, 5G, makes use of the millimeter band, between 30 GHz and 300 GHz, where there are contiguous bandwidths with sizes hardly available in the bands used in the present. This Project aims to study the feasibility of cellular system deployments in said band, based on published empirical and theoretical studies and papers, and the ITU recommendations, where the propagation characteristics in those bands are studied. In the next section, available documentation coming from the different study groups and projects like METIS 2020 promoted by the European Commission, or IMT-2020, promoted by the ITU has been studied. In the documentation, future telecommunication standards and its characteristics and the evolution of the current ones are defined. Besides the documentation work, a series of simulations have been carried out. First, MATLAB has been used to study the behavior and attenuation of the electromagnetic wave at the frequencies of interest in different locations and climates, studying the effects of atmospheric gasses and hydrometeors in conventional and extreme locations. Industry standard radioelectric planning software has been used to study the coverage in different environments, such as urban locations like Madrid and Barcelona, both in Spain, suburban locations like Tres Cantos (Madrid, Spain) and O Barco de Valdeorras (Orense, Spain) and rural locations such as Valdefuentes (Cáreces, Spain) and Quiruelas de Vidriales (Zamora, Spain). Finally, all the results, both from the documentation and our own simulations, have been collected, and a brief commentary has been made, comparing those results and their possible impact in the future deployment of 5G networks.

La fisuración iniciada en la superficie de los pavimentos asfálticos constituye uno de los más frecuentes e importantes modos de deterioro que tienen lugar en los firmes bituminosos, como han demostrado los estudios teóricos y experimentales llevados a cabo en la última década. Sin embargo, este mecanismo de fallo no ha sido considerado por los métodos tradicionales de diseño de estos firmes. El concepto de firmes de larga duración se fundamenta en un adecuado seguimiento del proceso de avance en profundidad de estos deterioros y la intervención en el momento más apropiado para conseguir mantenerlos confinados como fisuras de profundidad parcial en la capa superficial más fácilmente accesible y reparable, de manera que pueda prolongarse la durabilidad y funcionalidad del firme y reducir los costes generalizados de su ciclo de vida. Por lo tanto, para la selección de la estrategia óptima de conservación de los firmes resulta esencial disponer de metodologías que posibiliten la identificación precisa in situ de la fisuración descendente, su seguimiento y control, y que además permitan una determinación fiable y con alto rendimiento de su profundidad y extensión. En esta Tesis Doctoral se presentan los resultados obtenidos mediante la investigación sistemática de laboratorio e in situ llevada a cabo para la obtención de datos sobre fisuración descendente en firmes asfálticos y para el estudio de procedimientos de evaluación de la profundidad de este tipo de fisuras empleando técnicas de ultrasonidos. Dichos resultados han permitido comprobar que la metodología no destructiva propuesta, de rápida ejecución, bajo coste y sencilla implementación (principalmente empleada hasta el momento en estructuras metálicas y de hormigón, debido a las dificultades que introduce la naturaleza viscoelástica de los materiales bituminosos) puede ser aplicada con suficiente fiabilidad y repetibilidad sobre firmes asfálticos. Las medidas resultan asimismo independientes del espesor total del firme. Además, permite resolver algunos de los inconvenientes frecuentes que presentan otros métodos de diagnóstico de las fisuras de pavimentos, tales como la extracción de testigos (sistema destructivo, de alto coste y prolongados tiempos de interrupción del tráfico) o algunas otras técnicas no destructivas como las basadas en medidas de deflexiones o el georradar, las cuales no resultan suficientemente precisas para la investigación de fisuras superficiales. Para ello se han realizado varias campañas de ensayos sobre probetas de laboratorio en las que se han estudiado diferentes condiciones empíricas como, por ejemplo, distintos tipos de mezclas bituminosas en caliente (AC, SMA y PA), espesores de firme y adherencias entre capas, temperaturas, texturas superficiales, materiales de relleno y agua en el interior de las grietas, posición de los sensores y un amplio rango de posibles profundidades de fisura. Los métodos empleados se basan en la realización de varias medidas de velocidad o de tiempo de transmisión del pulso ultrasónico sobre una única cara o superficie accesible del material, de manera que resulte posible obtener un coeficiente de transmisión de la señal (mediciones relativas o autocompensadas). Las mediciones se han realizado a bajas frecuencias de excitación mediante dos equipos de ultrasonidos diferentes dotados, en un caso, de transductores de contacto puntual seco (DPC) y siendo en el otro instrumento de contacto plano a través de un material especialmente seleccionado para el acoplamiento (CPC). Ello ha permitido superar algunos de los tradicionales inconvenientes que presenta el uso de los transductores convencionales y no precisar preparación previa de las superficies. La técnica de autocalibración empleada elimina los errores sistemáticos y la necesidad de una calibración local previa, demostrando el potencial de esta tecnología. Los resultados experimentales han sido comparados con modelos teóricos simplificados que simulan la propagación de las ondas ultrasónicas en estos materiales bituminosos fisurados, los cuales han sido deducidos previamente mediante un planteamiento analítico y han permitido la correcta interpretación de dichos datos empíricos. Posteriormente, estos modelos se han calibrado mediante los resultados de laboratorio, proporcionándose sus expresiones matemáticas generalizadas y gráficas para su uso rutinario en las aplicaciones prácticas. Mediante los ensayos con ultrasonidos efectuados en campañas llevadas a cabo in situ, acompañados de la extracción de testigos del firme, se han podido evaluar los modelos propuestos. El máximo error relativo promedio en la estimación de la profundidad de las fisuras al aplicar dichos modelos no ha superado el 13%, con un nivel de confianza del 95%, en el conjunto de todos los ensayos realizados. La comprobación in situ de los modelos ha permitido establecer los criterios y las necesarias recomendaciones para su utilización sobre firmes en servicio. La experiencia obtenida posibilita la integración de esta metodología entre las técnicas de auscultación para la gestión de su conservación. Abstract Surface-initiated cracking of asphalt pavements constitutes one of the most frequent and important types of distress that occur in flexible bituminous pavements, as clearly has been demonstrated in the technical and experimental studies done over the past decade. However, this failure mechanism has not been taken into consideration for traditional methods of flexible pavement design. The concept of long-lasting pavements is based on adequate monitoring of the depth and extent of these deteriorations and on intervention at the most appropriate moment so as to contain them in the surface layer in the form of easily-accessible and repairable partial-depth topdown cracks, thereby prolonging the durability and serviceability of the pavement and reducing the overall cost of its life cycle. Therefore, to select the optimal maintenance strategy for perpetual pavements, it becomes essential to have access to methodologies that enable precise on-site identification, monitoring and control of top-down propagated cracks and that also permit a reliable, high-performance determination of the extent and depth of cracking. This PhD Thesis presents the results of systematic laboratory and in situ research carried out to obtain information about top-down cracking in asphalt pavements and to study methods of depth evaluation of this type of cracking using ultrasonic techniques. These results have demonstrated that the proposed non-destructive methodology –cost-effective, fast and easy-to-implement– (mainly used to date for concrete and metal structures, due to the difficulties caused by the viscoelastic nature of bituminous materials) can be applied with sufficient reliability and repeatability to asphalt pavements. Measurements are also independent of the asphalt thickness. Furthermore, it resolves some of the common inconveniences presented by other methods used to evaluate pavement cracking, such as core extraction (a destructive and expensive procedure that requires prolonged traffic interruptions) and other non-destructive techniques, such as those based on deflection measurements or ground-penetrating radar, which are not sufficiently precise to measure surface cracks. To obtain these results, extensive tests were performed on laboratory specimens. Different empirical conditions were studied, such as various types of hot bituminous mixtures (AC, SMA and PA), differing thicknesses of asphalt and adhesions between layers, varied temperatures, surface textures, filling materials and water within the crack, different sensor positions, as well as an ample range of possible crack depths. The methods employed in the study are based on a series of measurements of ultrasonic pulse velocities or transmission times over a single accessible side or surface of the material that make it possible to obtain a signal transmission coefficient (relative or auto-calibrated readings). Measurements were taken at low frequencies by two short-pulse ultrasonic devices: one equipped with dry point contact transducers (DPC) and the other with flat contact transducers that require a specially-selected coupling material (CPC). In this way, some of the traditional inconveniences presented by the use of conventional transducers were overcome and a prior preparation of the surfaces was not required. The auto-compensating technique eliminated systematic errors and the need for previous local calibration, demonstrating the potential for this technology. The experimental results have been compared with simplified theoretical models that simulate ultrasonic wave propagation in cracked bituminous materials, which had been previously deduced using an analytical approach and have permitted the correct interpretation of the aforementioned empirical results. These models were subsequently calibrated using the laboratory results, providing generalized mathematical expressions and graphics for routine use in practical applications. Through a series of on-site ultrasound test campaigns, accompanied by asphalt core extraction, it was possible to evaluate the proposed models, with differences between predicted crack depths and those measured in situ lower than 13% (with a confidence level of 95%). Thereby, the criteria and the necessary recommendations for their implementation on in-service asphalt pavements have been established. The experience obtained through this study makes it possible to integrate this methodology into the evaluation techniques for pavement management systems.

In this paper, the dynamic response of a hydro power plant for providing secondary regulation reserve is studied in detail. Special emphasis is given to the elastic water column effects both in the penstock and the tailrace tunnel. For this purpose, a nonlinear model based on the analogy between mass and momentum conservation equations of a water conduit and those of wave propagation in transmission lines is used. The influence of the plant configuration and design parameters on the fulfilment of the Spanish Electrical System Operator requirements is analysed

The delay caused by the reflected ray in broadband communication has a great influence on the communications in subway tunnel. This paper presents measurements taken in subway tunnels at 2.4 GHz, with 5 MHz bandwidth. According to propagation characteristics of tunnel, the measurements were carried out with a frequency domain channel sounding technique, in three typical scenarios: line of sight (LOS), Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and far line of sight (FLOS), which lead to different delay distributions. Firstly IFFT was chosen to get channel impulse response (CIR) h(t) from measured three-dimensional transfer functions. Power delay profile (PDP) was investigated to give an overview of broadband channel model. Thereafter, a long delay caused by the obturation of tunnel is observed and investigated in all the scenarios. The measurements show that the reflection can be greatly remained by the tunnel, which leads to long delay cluster where the reflection, but direct ray, makes the main contribution for radio wave propagation. Four important parameters: distribution of whole PDP power, first peak arriving time, reflection cluster duration and PDP power distribution of reflection cluster were studied to give a detailed description of long delay characteristic in tunnel. This can be used to ensure high capacity communication in tunnels

Tests used to simulate the separation of the lower stage of the Ariane Vehicle Equipment Bay (VEB) were carried out on a flat full scale model. Theoretical studies carried out prior to testing are described. Three different mathematical methods, finite element, component element, and wave propagation, were used. Comparison of the predicted theoretical results with the actual test results is planned.

The paper discusses the dispersion relation for longitudinal electron waves propagating in a collisionless, homogeneous isotropic plasma, which contains both Maxwellian and suprathermal electrons. I t is found that the dispersion curve, known to have two separate branches for zero suprathermal energy spread,depends sensitively on this quantity. As the energy half-width of the suprathermal population increases, the branches approach each other until they touch at a connexion point, for a small critical value of that half-width. The topology of the dispersion curves is different for half-widths above and below critical; and this can affect the use of wave-propagation measurements as a diagnostic technique for the determination of the electron distribution function. Both the distance between the branches and spatial damping near the connexion frequency depend on the half-width, if below critical, and can be used to determine it. The theory is applied to experimental data.

En primer lugar se realiza una breve introducción a la historia del refuerzo sonoro, en el cual veremos cómo a ido evolucionando hasta lo que se conoce hoy en día como Line Array, luego nos centraremos en los factores acústicos a tener en cuenta, en ellos repasaremos los conceptos de fase y la importancia de este factor en cuanto a la interacción de más de altavoz, en esta parte también repasaremos como afectan las condiciones climáticas como la atenuación del aire y la temperatura, a la propagación de sonido. A continuación nos centraremos en el diseño de arreglos de altavoces, veremos las diferentes configuraciones para diferentes rangos de trabajo, veremos sus ventajas y desventajas de cada arreglo y también se verá la forma de controlar la directividad de los arreglos para optimizar la propagación del sonido en el área a cubrir, para terminar esta parte profundizaremos en el diseño de los sistemas Line Array, analizando su estructura interna para entender su comportamiento directivo y eficaz en cuanto a la propagación de ondas. Por último se hará el análisis de un montaje real, en el cual tuve participación directa en el montaje ya que la empresa para la que trabajaba se encargó de hacer la gira del grupo español Amaral. Esta gira se realiza en el año 2008-2009, gracias a esta experiencia he podido llevar a cabo este proyecto donde también he podido comprobar algunos conceptos empleados en el diseño de arreglos. De esta Gira, se analizará la efectividad y el rendimiento del diseño de arreglo empleado, para esto se generará mediante software de predicción acústica, el mapa de presión sonora generado por el diseño empleado, una vez visto los resultados, se planteará una reorganización del arreglo de altavoces, para poder conseguir un mejor rendimiento en el área a cubrir. ABSTRACT. First is a brief introduction to the history of sound reinforcement, in which we will see how to have evolved into what is known today as Line Array, then we will focus on acoustic factors to consider in they will review phase concepts and the importance of this factor as to the interaction of the speaker more in this part also review such as climatic conditions affecting air attenuation and temperature, to the propagation of sound. Here we focus on the speaker array design, we see the different configurations for different ranges of work, we will see the advantages and disadvantages of each arrangement and also see how to control the directivity of the arrays to optimize sound propagation in the area to be covered, to finish this part will delve into the design of line array systems, analyzing its internal structure to understand its behavior management and effective in terms of wave propagation. Finally, we will analyze a real assembly, which had direct involvement in the assembly as the company for which he worked was commissioned to do the tour of the Spanish group Amaral. This tour takes place in the year 2008-2009, thanks to this experience I have been able to conduct this project where I have seen also some concepts used in the array design. In this tour, we analyze the effectiveness and performance of the array design used for this is generated by acoustical prediction software, the map of sound pressure generated by the design employed, once seen the results, he will consider reorganization under speaker, in order to achieve better performance in the area to be covered.

The theoretical improvements performed since the last spacecraft and mechanical testing conference on the study of the pyrotechnic shock phenomena produced during the separation of the lower stage of the Ariane 5 Vehicle Equipment Bay (VEB) structure are described. The first theoretical approach used was based on the wave propagation method, including axial and shear waves. The method was changed, in order to capture the bending effects, as well as the influence of the frequency dependent damping values. In addition to the development of the theoretical method, efforts were made to improve the criteria used to model the structure. Comparison of the theoretical predictions with the test results of a flat test sample 1 m width, as well as a preliminary test performed on a small sample, are presented.
