Multicarrier transmission such as OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) is an established technique for radio transmission systems and it can be considered as a promising approach for next generation wireless systems. However, in order to comply with the demand on increasing available data rates in particular in wireless technologies, systems with multiple transmit and receive antennas, also called MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) systems, have become indispensable for future generations of wireless systems. Due to the strongly increasing demand in high-data rate transmission systems, frequency non-selective MIMO links have reached a state of maturity and frequency selective MIMO links are in the focus of interest. In this field, the combination of MIMO transmission and OFDM can be considered as an essential part of fulfilling the requirements of future generations of wireless systems. However, single-user scenarios have reached a state of maturity. By contrast multiple users' scenarios require substantial further research, where in comparison to ZF (zero-forcing) multiuser transmission techniques, the individual user's channel characteristics are taken into consideration in this contribution. The performed joint optimization of the number of activated MIMO layers and the number of transmitted bits per subcarrier shows that not necessarily all user-specific MIMO layers per subcarrier have to be activated in order to minimize the overall BER under the constraint of a given fixed data throughput.

Many of the emerging telecom services make use of Outer Edge Networks, in particular Home Area Networks. The configuration and maintenance of such services may not be under full control of the telecom operator which still needs to guarantee the service quality experienced by the consumer. Diagnosing service faults in these scenarios becomes especially difficult since there may be not full visibility between different domains. This paper describes the fault diagnosis solution developed in the MAGNETO project, based on the application of Bayesian Inference to deal with the uncertainty. It also takes advantage of a distributed framework to deploy diagnosis components in the different domains and network elements involved, spanning both the telecom operator and the Outer Edge networks. In addition, MAGNETO features self-learning capabilities to automatically improve diagnosis knowledge over time and a partition mechanism that allows breaking down the overall diagnosis knowledge into smaller subsets. The MAGNETO solution has been prototyped and adapted to a particular outer edge scenario, and has been further validated on a real testbed. Evaluation of the results shows the potential of our approach to deal with fault management of outer edge networks.

Advanced wheat lines carrying the Hessian fly resistance gene H27 were obtained by backcrossing the wheat/Aegilops ventricosa introgression line, H-93-33, to commercial wheat cultivars as recurrent parents. The Acph-N v 1 marker linked to the gene H27 on the 4Nv chromosome of this line was used for marker assisted selection. Advanced lines were evaluated for Hessian fly resistance in field and growth chamber tests, and for other agronomic traits during several crop seasons at different localities of Spain. The hessian fly resistance levels of lines carrying the 4Nv chromosome introgression (4D/4Nv substitution and recombination lines that previously were classified by in situ hybridisation) were high, but always lower than that of their Ae. ventricosa progenitor. Introgression lines had higher grain yields in infested field trials than those without the 4Nv chromosome and their susceptible parents, but lower grain yields under high yield potential conditions. The 4Nv introgression was also associated with later heading, and lower tiller and grain numbers/m2 . In addition, it was associated with longer and more lax spikes, and higher values of grain weight and grain protein content. However, the glutenin and gliadin expression, as well as the bread-making performance, were similar to those of their recurrent parents

This paper presents a high-power high efficiency PA design method using load pull technique. Harmonic impedance control at the virtual drain is accomplished through the use of tunable pre-matching circuits and modeling of package parasitics. A 0.5 µm GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) is characterized using the method, and loadpull measurements are simulated illustrating the impact of varying 2nd and 3rd harmonic termination. These harmonic terminations are added to satisfy conditions for class-F load pull. The method is verified by design and simulation of a 40-W class-F PA prototype at 1.64 GHz with 76% drain efficiency and 10 dB gain (70% PAE).

This work is focused on building and configuring a measurement test bench for non linear High Power Amplifiers, more precisely those ones based on the Envelope Elimination and Restoration. At first sight the test bench is composed of several arbitrary waveform generators, an oscilloscope, a vector signal generator and a spectrum analyzer all of them controlled remotely. The test bench works automatically, that is why several software control programs have been developed in order to control all this equipment. The control programs have been developed in Matlab/Octave Scripting language and at last chance in a more low level language as C. The signal processing algorithms, taking into account that the time alignment one is the most important, have been developed in Matlab/Octave Scripting too. An improvement of 10dB in the ACPR(Adjacent Channel Power Ratio) has been obtained just by applying the time alignment algorithm developed in this work

The purpose of this study is to set up the basis needed to develop real applications designed for the control and management of heterogeneous fleets. This paper tries to present some programming patterns which will lead to the design and development of good quality applications. The premise for this purpose should be the design of scalable, platform independent, modular and user friendly programs which require very small maintenance and if possible to give the ability to nonprogrammer users the ability to extend the application beyond their original design. To achieve it, a web design with the use of content management system following a model-view-controller architectural pattern has been purposed.

An envelope amplifier for an EER (Envelope Elimination and Restoration) and ET (Envelope Tracking) techniques is shown in this paper. The amplifier is based on a high speed two phases buck converter and employs RF LDMOS technology for the switching stage. A DPWM (Digital Pulse With Modulation) signal is used to control the amplifier by means of a functions generator. Simulations and measurements on a circuit prototype are presented showing a good agreement. Up to 125W output peak power can be delivered over a 5Ω load resistor. About 80% efficiency has been obtained. And at the two tone test, the third order intermodulation products (IP3) remain below 45dBc over a 2MHz bandwidth.

Multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) downlink (DL) transmission schemes experience both multiuser interference as well as inter-antenna interference. The singular value decomposition provides an appropriate mean to process channel information and allows us to take the individual user’s channel characteristics into account rather than treating all users channels jointly as in zero-forcing (ZF) multiuser transmission techniques. However, uncorrelated MIMO channels has attracted a lot of attention and reached a state of maturity. By contrast, the performance analysis in the presence of antenna fading correlation, which decreases the channel capacity, requires substantial further research. The joint optimization of the number of activated MIMO layers and the number of bits per symbol along with the appropriate allocation of the transmit power shows that not necessarily all user-specific MIMO layers has to be activated in order to minimize the overall BER under the constraint of a given fixed data throughput.
