Judge Thomas McIntyre Cooley house. Building was renovated in 1906-1907; opened for student use in 1907; in 1912 an addition was built. In 1916 the original house was razed to make room for a new Michigan Union. The addition was moved to the north and used as a ballroom for a time. Image clipped from publication.

Michigan University. University Hospital

Chamberlin & Austin, architects. Built in 1891 at corner of Catherine and Glen. Used as Homeopathic Hospital 1891-1900, Medical Ward 1900-1925, Convalescent Ward 1925-1927. Burned in 1927. Two images mounted on album page.

The Lawyer's Club and Dormitory

Given to the university by William W. Cook, the four buildings comprising the Law Quadrangle with their construction dates are: the Lawyers Club, 1924; the John P. Cook Dormitory, 1930; the Legal Research Building, 1931, and Hutchins Hall, 1933. Architects: York & Sawyer. The Legal Research Building includes the original library.

McMath-Hulbert Observatory

Observatory is near Lake Angelus, Mich. (five miles north of Pontiac). 24" reflecting telescope began operations in July 1930; also included a 10 1/2" reflector. Established and deeded to the university by Robert R. McMath, Francis McMath, and Judge Henry S. Hulbert. An additional 50' tower telescope was added in 1935/ 1946 and 70' tower telescope and office building added in 1940.

York and Sawyer, architect. The Martha Cook Building was erected as a residence for women in 1915, a gift of William Wilson Cook ('80) in honor of his mother, Martha Walford Cook. Garden replanted in 1921 by Samuel Parsons of New York City. Stamp on verso: G.R. Swain; 712 East University Ave.; Ann Arbor, Mich.
