PROPOSTA DE UNIDADE TEMÁTICA PARA O ENSINO DE INGLÊS EM AMBIENTE DIGITAL

Based on a sociocultural perspective (LANTOLF, 2000; 2010), the present article aims at presenting a thematic unit especially designed for an advanced leveled English group. This thematic unit has been elaborated in the virtual learning environment  http://pbworks.com , proposing twenty hours of collaborative tasks for the students, and it counted with varied textual genres and diverse digital tools. The objective of this thematic unit is to stimulate the collaboration between the students, focusing on the culture of English speaking countries in relation with crafts, setting up relations with the History of crafts in Brazil and working with the oral and written comprehension and production.  By creating a thematic unit that proposes the study of cultural aspects of other countries, an opportunity for the students to experience the culture of others is created, and for them to notice that culture is not apart from language. Such aspects are noticeable in foreign language classes due to the fact that by dealing with language, individuals also deal with cultural, identitary, and social aspects. Taking into consideration that oral and written comprehension and production are inseparable abilities, the proposed tasks in the thematic unit have been designed considering the students’ context, their necessities, the groups’ interests, and also the three types of knowledge according to Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (1998): systemic, world and genre knowledge, besides the Oxford strategies (1990).

A partir de uma perspectiva sociocultural (LANTOLF, 2000; 2010), o presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma unidade temática especialmente planejada para uma turma de Língua Inglesa de nível avançado. Esta unidade temática foi elaborada no ambiente virtual de aprendizagem http://pbworks.com , propondo vinte horas de tarefas colaborativas para os alunos, e contou com gêneros textuais variados e ferramentas digitais diversificadas. O objetivo da unidade temática é estimular a colaboração entre os alunos, focalizando a cultura de países de Língua Inglesa no que diz respeito ao Artesanato, estabelecendo relações com a história do Artesanato no Brasil e trabalhando a compreensão e produção oral e escrita. Ao criar uma unidade temática que propõe o estudo de aspectos culturais de outros países, cria-se uma oportunidade para os alunos de vivenciarem a cultura do outro, e de perceberem que a cultura não está dissociada da língua. Tais aspectos se fazem presentes em aulas de língua estrangeira devido ao fato de que por lidar-se com língua, os indivíduos também lidam com aspectos culturais, identitários e sociais. Considerando que compreensão oral e escrita e produção oral e escrita são habilidades indissociáveis, as tarefas propostas na unidade temática foram elaboradas levando em conta o contexto dos alunos, suas necessidades, os interesses da turma e também os três tipos de conhecimento propostos pelos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (1998): sistêmico, de mundo e de gênero, além das estratégias de Oxford (1990).
