O repertório musical português no ensino da tuba

Relatório de Estágio para a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Ensino da Música

No âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino de Música, Ramo Instrumento, foi elaborado o presente relatório de estágio, no intuito de refletir o trabalho desenvolvido ao longo do percurso formativo. Desenvolvida a prática pedagógica no Conservatório de Música do Porto, na disciplina de Tuba, o relatório expressa uma filosofia de ensino baseada no diálogo e na atitude reflexiva, considerada basilar no crescimento profissional. Orientada, supervisionada e observada por figuras de referência no panorama artístico e pedagógico nacional, resultou num constante diálogo, na partilha de conhecimentos e saberes, na lecionação consciente e convergente na promoção de aprendizagens significativas junto dos alunos. Consciente da mudança de paradigma já efetuada há décadas no ensino do instrumento, com a desmitificação da relação mestre/aluno, construíram-se aulas com planos estruturados, mas sem esquecer a flexibilidade, e tendo em conta o alcance de objetivos previamente definidos. Traçaram-se metodologias centradas na motivação constante dos alunos e no desenvolvimento das suas capacidades críticas, criativas e autoavaliativas. Sob o título “O repertório musical português no ensino da Tuba”, e no contexto da unidade curricular de Seminário de Investigação Ensino de Música, o projeto de investigação responde a parte do desafio colocado pelo professor supervisor e, simultaneamente, a uma questão do quotidiano do ensino de Tuba nos níveis básico e secundário, a necessidade de repertório português adequado a estes níveis de ensino. Com um eco histórico relevante, é possível uma abordagem à disciplina em que, não esquecendo os “clássicos”, se promova uma mudança de posição em relação à subalternidade que tem sido característica em Portugal nos últimos séculos, contribuindo para a formação de identidade do estudante de música.

This internship report was written within the scope of a Master in Music Teaching (Instrumental path) so as to establish the main conclusions of this formative process. The intership itself consisted of a tenure as a Tuba teacher at the Oporto Music Conservatory, and this report delineates the pedagogic philosophy which was adopted during that period; one that is based on dialogue and a conscientious attitude, considered to be fundamental in a student’s professional growth. The internship, being guided, supervised and observed by key personalities in both the artistic and pegagogic panorama in Portugal, resulted in a permanent dialogue and knowledge sharing, and in a self-conscious teaching which converged to the promotion of a significant learning process by the students. In the framework of a decades-old paradigm change that brought about the demystification of the master-student relationship, the classes were indeed based on thoroughly though-out plans, but never disregarding both the necessary flexibility in teaching and the previously agreed-upon goals for each student. Accordingly, the teaching methodology had the students’ permanent motivation and the development of their critical, creative and self-evaluative abilities as building blocks. Under the title “The Portuguese Music Repertoire in Tuba Teaching”, and within the scope of the subject “Research Seminar – Music Teaching”, the research project provides an answer to part of the challenge posed by the supervisor Professor and, simultaneously, addresses the need of a portuguese repertoire which is appropriate for primary and secondary levels of education, a rather pressing issue in these circles. We conclude that, albeit never forgetting the so-called “classics”, it is in fact possible to invert the subordinate state of the national repertoire (a state of affairs which has been the status quo in Portugal for the last centuries), therefore highly contributing to the formation of the identity of the music student.
