Crenças e atitudes face à sexualidade das pessoas portadoras de deficiência mental

Perante o século XXI, ainda existem crenças e atitudes negativas face à sexualidade em geral mas quando se trata da sexualidade das pessoas portadoras de deficiência mental estas tornam-se ainda mais negativas. Com o intuito de se verificar se existiam diferentes significativas nas atitudes das pessoas, face à sexualidade das pessoas portadoras de deficiência mental, consoante o género, a faixa etária e o grau de ensino procedeu-se a um estudo, comparativo transversal. Para tal, foi utilizada uma amostra de 110 sujeitos (63,6% do género feminino e 36,4% do género masculino), com idades compreendidas entre os 15 e os 30 anos, na qual foi aplicada uma escala de atitudes, Inventário de atitudes sobre a sexualidade e a deficiência mental (SMRAI), adaptada e validada por Félix, sendo esta composta por 40 itens que se dividem em duas sub-escalas com 20 itens cada, uma relacionada com a expressão da sexualidade em geral e outra com a expressão da sexualidade na deficiência mental. Utilizando-se um nível de significância de 0,05, concluiu-se que não existiam diferenças significativas nas atitudes das pessoas no que concerne às variáveis faixa etária e grau de ensino mas relativamente ao género há uma tendência para o oposto.

Before century XXI, there are negative beliefs and attitudes towards the sexuality in general but when it comes to the sexuality of people with mental retardation they become even worse. In order to check whether there were difference in the attitudes of people, towards sexuality of people with mental retardation, depending on gender, age and level of education held to one study, comparative cross. To this end, we used a sample of 110 subjects (63.6% of female and 36.4% males), with ages understood between 15 and 30 in which was applied a attitudes scale, Sexuality and Mentally Retarded Attitudes Inventory (SMRAI), adapted and validated for Felix, composed by 40 items which are divided into two subscales with 20 items each, one related to the expression of sexuality in general and the other with the expression of sexuality in mental retardation. Using a significance level of 0.05, concluded that there were no significant differences in the attitudes of people regarding the variables age and level of education but relatively on gender there is a tendency for the opposite.
