"The first seven reports were numbered consecutively; none after were numbered until the one made to the 25th General assembly, which was called the 3d, being the third report of T. A. Parker, superintendent. This numbering was continued to the 9th and the next was called the 26th, from which the numbering has been continuous to the present time. In this numbering the report made for 1865 was overlooked, and the present numbering is not correct."--Bowker, State publications, pt. III, p. 322.
