Resumo

Includes index.

Signatures: A-2A⁸.

Jérôme de Marnef's device on t.p. With the exception of the ill. on leaves 46 and 47, the woodcuts are the same as those of the 1570 ed., which probably repeated those of the Métamorphose figurée of l566 (no surviving copies). These in turn were copied from the ill. after Bernard Saloman's designs for Jean de Tournes' Lyons ed. of 1557; see Renouard 230, 265, 419. Initials, head and tail pieces.

Follows the ed. of 1570. Text first published Frankfurt, 1563; see Renouard, 265. Spreng's dedication to Rudolf and Ernest, Archdukes of Austria and sons of Emperor Maximilian II, retains the date of 22 Feb. 1563. Each metamorphosis occupies one leaf, with woodcut ill. and prose argument on recto and verse "enarratio" and "allegoria" (moral) on the verso.
